It is peaceful here, but also an active farming community. As an organic farm, we put alot of effort into soil building and as such, there are soft places that will be damaged by the weight of a vehicle. Staying on the driveway is best. We will guide you to where you need to go. Our road is paved, but bumpy. We live on 19 acres on Road to the Sea, which has a remote green sand beach at the end of the road (4 miles down from us). We call our slice of paradise, Honua Laa (a sacred place). Straight down to the coast is a beautiful black and green sand beach and a huge tide pool. Rent a four-wheel-drive to get there, but you don’t need 4WD to get to our place, but you do need to rent an SUV or truck with high clearance. No sedans. Go slow the road is rough and bumpy in places.. Off the grid. Rustic, but fun. If you are a Eco tourist or seeking adventure, you will love our spot! The silence is golden and the stars are amazing. Don't expect a hotel...this is upcountry glamorous camping. It's one-of-a-kind! Most of the parcels are 20 acre parcels around… But a few smaller parcels across the road. We have nice neighbors who keep an eye on things. The nearest grocery store is about 3 miles away. The Hele-On Bus is just 1.2 miles up the road. If you want to drive to the green sand beach at the end of our road, rent a 4 wheel drive. If you are athletic, you can walk, but it is 4 miles down and 4 miles back. I recommend going early in the morning and take water. Hot water shower is propane. Bring ice for your ice chest. Bring drinking water. There is a gas grill and propane single burner. Bathroom has manual flush toilet,. This is off the grid solar and there can be days without sun, or other glitches. You can charge your phone and have a lamp in your cabin. No wifi. I use ATandT and I understand that Verizon and T-Mobile work here also. The panoramic ocean view is spectacular! Very peaceful and relaxing! Our glamping cabins are in the front 3 acres. The back 17 acres is an old Ohia forest with 500 year old trees and lots of birds. You might even see a wild goat or a wild pig. There are small caves and gorgeous rock formations. It backs up to Manuka Forest Reserve.

This was our second early-December stay here. The property is in an excellent location above Naalehu, is easy to find, and has spectacular views of the surrounding hillside and ocean. Brian, the onsite manager, was responsive and friendly, and made us feel welcome. The cabins are cute and clean, and the crickets and coqui frogs serenaded us to sleep. The outdoor shower is private and clean, and has plenty of hot water. This is a simple little gem of a place, and we would definitely stay here again.

Weekend Trip to Affordable Hawai'i

Loved the campsite, cozy tent and even a bit of ocean view. Host was welcoming and kind, left us local fruit and warm tea. Bonus for flush toilets and a warm (indoor) shower! Great location, remote and quiet but a close drive to some nice local spots. Great middle ground if you're traveling from Kona to Hilo and sightseeing along the way. Last bit of the route is a bit rough though, make sure you're ready for dirt roads.

We loved staying at Wendy’s! She was an incredibly generous host and communicated really well. As soon as we landed in Kona, she let us know that a volcano was fountaining, told us to head straight there, and had no issues with our late check-in as a result! Literally a once in a lifetime opportunity we would have missed if not for Wendy. The space itself was beautiful. Wendy’s property is gorgeous and she gave us a lovely tour of all the fruit trees she’s planted. The little cabin we stayed in was cozy and we loved having breakfast out in the deck. If we’re ever in the area again, we’d stay at Wendy’s in a heartbeat.

We had such an amazing experience here! The sunset views alone made this stay unforgettable — truly some of the most beautiful we’ve ever seen. Our host went above and beyond, from sharing wonderful local recommendations to graciously allowing us to extend our stay when we weren’t ready to leave. The property was peaceful, well cared for, and perfect for unwinding. We loved having a place to dry our towels and swimsuits after long days outside, and the fresh tangelo from the garden was such a special touch. You can really tell how much care and intention goes into making guests feel welcome here. We’re already talking about coming back. Highly, highly recommend this stay!

Nice private camp area behind locked gate. Careful there is a lot of broken glass as you drive past the gate towards the campsite, I cleaned up a lot but the more I cleaned up the more I found. The code to the gate was wrong on the directions - luckily there was a worker at the fruit stand that gave me the right one. Tried to get a hold of the host regarding wifi but took over a day - called twice, WhatsApp, text - she finally responded to a text. Nice place to unwind and not have anyone bother you.

The yurt is set on a beautiful farm and has all the amenities you'd need. I'd recommend bringing ear plugs if you are a light sleeper-as the sounds of the lush and dense tropical forest night life (maybe frogs) continue all night! My family and I were comfortable here for our 2 night stay and were able to dine in for all meals with the provided kitchen and fridge

Bumpy road up for us in a sprinter van but slow and steady made it happen no problem. Colin was available and super helpful navigating us up and even telling us the best way to park our large van. Susan stopped by to quickly tell us about the critters and plants nearby which was fun to learn about. The toilets were not available as they hadn't been serviced so ask ahead if that’s a need for your stay. Overall a peaceful stay. Thanks Colin and Susan!
