Ocean View is often referred to as the goldilocks of Hawaii. Our climate is quite lovely with temperatures ranging from 70's in winter to low 80's in the summer. At night it cools off some for a great resting temperature. We usually have nice tradewinds blowing through. Our property is rural and quiet. Perfect for a good nights sleep. The evenings make for great stargazing and the days are not too hot with sun in the morning and sometimes clouds roll in during the afternoon. Ocean View lives up to its name with Ocean Views from most places. The town itself features friendly folks and a variety of establishments including a pizzaria, grill, grocery stores, farmers markets, gas station, post office, and gift shop. The grill features a weekly paint night and Karaoke night. LOUD fan, DIRTY kitchen

The Flower Bed

We arrived and immediately noticed the fan in the bedroom was VERY LOUD. My partner had called to ask about the coqui frogs noise and the loud fan was never mentioned. We tried just turning the fan off but it quickly got too hot. We looked at the kitchen and when we opened the bins with the silverware and dishes there was a strong rancid smell, the bin with the "complementary oil etc." was DISGUSTING and the lid of one of the bins disintegrated. The grill was very dirty and rusted and the propane tank had been left on against direction from the guest book. Obviously nothing was looked at for a long time. The place itself is located very close to the host’s house so that your view is bright green siding. The area itself is fairly sparse and desolate volcanic rock with scrappy trees, not very pretty. Also we were told from a relative that there are dangerous stray dogs in the area, in 2023 a 71 year old man was killed in Ocean View after dog attack: https://bigislandnow.com/2023/08/01/elderly-man-dies-after-being-attacked-by-four-large-dogs-in-kaʻu/ The bed looked clean and comfortable but as we said we didn't sleep there even one night because of the other issues. If you can handle the noisy fan you might survive one night here.

This was such a lovely camp, Laura adds the nicest touches and is so kind, helpful and accommodating. The flower bed is beautiful, so clean, and the bed is so comfy. I wish we stayed longer!

This is a cozy and welcoming space! Everything you need and nothing that you don’t. A good launch pad for exploring the southwest side of the island, or even a day trip to Kona.

We adored this sweet little setup! We had a campervan for the week but splurged on this place for a night, and no regrets - nice comfy bed, wonderful hot outdoor shower, privacy, and loving attention to detail everywhere you look. We appreciated having a place to prep, grill, and eat dinner under the full moon. This place has the magic.

Refreshing green house cabin!

The Flower Bed

Laura's well kept greenhouse cabin was a haven of rest, relaxation and cleanliness. It is very naturistic with a modern touch. From the moment we arrived for our honeymoon stay we were impressed with her well kept garden features. The walkway carefully lined with lava rock and Beauty bark leads you into a very cozy living space. It's complete with a cozy queen bed and soft fresh sheets, a mini fridge for drinks or leftovers, coffeemaker and complimentary coffee. Beautiful hanging plants and succulants line the ceiling and the Hawaiian sun greets you happily every morning. Thank you Laura for your hard work and hospitality.
