Kailua, HI · 7 sites · Tents, RVs, Lodging
This is a breathtaking space that our family has poured many decades and multiple generations into. We are surrounded by jungle, with a freshwater stream running through the entire property and unobstructed mountain views. If you’re especially sensitive to mosquitos, bugs, geckos, free roaming chickens or other elements to be expected in nature, this might not be the place for you. Waimanalo is a small agricultural town filled with nurseries, horse stables, and a high concentration of Hawaiian homes. It remains mostly undeveloped and authentic, and we aim to keep it that way. Outsiders do not often get the opportunity to stay back here, but we welcome respectful travelers looking for an authentic experience who can appreciate this privilege. While nestled against the mountains, we're just a five minute drive from the beach. We are fifteen minutes from Kailua town, where you'll find several grocery stores, shops, and restaurants. This is a working farm. While we are very hospitable, we are not in the business of hospitality. I am happy to accommodate travelers, but I am not here at your beck and call. If that is the experience you are seeking, I think you would be happier elsewhere. We appreciate all of your bookings, and profits go directly back into farm infrastructure and new fruit trees. Mokuleia, HI · 1 site
Totonami Farm is a small, hands-on farm rooted in respect for the land and the rhythms of Hawaiʻi, shaped by soil, waves and time. We keep bees, grow food for our own self-production, and work every day toward greater food sovereignty and resilience. What we grow and raise is meant not only to sustain us, but also to support and inspire others. Our approach is simple and intentional: organic practices, pesticide-free cultivation, and a commitment to working as close to off-grid as possible. We believe in caring for the soil, honoring the ecosystem, and giving back to the land that gives us so much every day. We love sharing this place and the opportunity to experience what it means to work with the land in Hawaiʻi—whether that’s learning, observing, helping out, or simply slowing down and reconnecting with nature. Totonami Farm is about community, stewardship, and growing together

Hawaiian Ocean View, HI · 1 site
Enjoy the country life in Kau on the Big Island and the lovely red Lehua flowers blooming. We live on 19 acres on Road to the Sea, which has a remote green sand beach at the end of the road (4 miles down from us). We call our slice of paradise, Honua Laa (a sacred place). Straight down to the coast is a beautiful black and green sand beach and a huge tide pool. Rent a four-wheel-drive to get there, but you don’t need 4WD to get to our place, but you do need to rent an SUV or truck with high clearance. No sedans. Go slow the road is rough and bumpy in places.. Off the grid. Rustic, but fun. If you are a Eco tourist or seeking adventure, you will love our spot! The silence is golden and the stars are amazing. Don't expect a hotel...this is upcountry glamorous camping. It's one-of-a-kind! Most of the parcels are 20 acre parcels around… But a few smaller parcels across the road. We have nice neighbors who keep an eye on things. The nearest grocery store is about 3 miles away. The Hele-On Bus is just 1.2 miles up the road. If you want to drive to the green sand beach at the end of our road, rent a 4 wheel drive. If you are athletic, you can walk, but it is 4 miles down and 4 miles back. I recommend going early in the morning and take water. Hot water shower is propane. Bring ice for your ice chest. Bring drinking water. There is a gas grill and propane single burner. Bathroom has manual flush toilet,. This is off the grid solar and there can be days without sun, or other glitches. You can charge your phone and have a lamp in your cabin. No wifi. I use ATandT and I understand that Verizon and T-Mobile work here also. The panoramic ocean view is spectacular! Very peaceful and relaxing! Our glamping cabins are in the front 3 acres. The back 17 acres is an old Ohia forest with 500 year old trees and lots of birds. You might even see a wild goat or a wild pig. There are small caves and gorgeous rock formations. It backs up to Manuka Forest Reserve.

Papaya Patch at Sunrise Horizon

Naalehu, HI · 1 site
The family who own and operate Southern Comfort fell in love with the property while visiting friends and family over 25 years ago. They knew they would eventually want to retire here from the mainland one day. Fast forward to 2001 and they started their developments. After building their dream home, they knew they wanted to share the beauty to extended family and friends so they created their first site "Papaya Patch", converting their storage container into a private comfy stay and then built their 2nd site “Valley View Bungalow”. Both sites offer a queen bed and their own bathroom and outdoor shower access . Ocean views from the Papaya Patch and Valley Views from the bungalow. Southern Comfort is within 1 hour from Kīlauea Volcanoes National Park, approximately 10 minutes to volcano Park Kahuku Unit, 9 miles to South Point, 10 minutes into Naalehu town, and the perfect mid-point between Kona and Hilo. Plenty of beaches and hiking close by! I’m almost always available to offer some friendly tips and advice for your next adventure!
