Our 501(c)(3) Non-Profit campsite has soft opening under way! This means we don't have many frills, but we are by far the closest RV site to central Atlanta, and the only one on MARTA public transit (right outside the gate). We are a rare gem in this city. One of the last areas that have been allowed to return to nature after being farmed until the 1960s. We are surrounded by 100s of acres of parkland, and yet are only 5 minutes drive from almost everything you will need. You will see the hand cut terraces put in by the farm workers and then the forest has spent the last 50 years taking it back. Still lots of old growth trees around though. The county just purchased/swapped 50 more acres to go with the hundreds more under it's watch. There is a 14 mile concrete trail that runs behind the property and all the way out along the south river. Quite the hike or bike if you fancy a good walk. There is a 18 hole golf course, sports fields, public pool and YMCA type community center all along the trail and walking distance from the campsite. We are a 501c3 non-profit church that is still in the early days of it's mission. Your donation to our site helps fund our mission and keeps the lights on. We are massively focussed on permaculture as the only sustainable way of life and rapidly moving towards being totally carbon neutral. You will be up close on our early days and see our Solar Roof Cabin (a total of 300 panels and 70kW output when completed). We make a lot of our infrastructure from windfallen and site development trees that are cut and shaped on our own electric sawmill. Much of the rest of the renovations are done using upcycled and donated materials. We are working towards: Total energy and water independence Total structural material independence Food independence via aquaponic farming Providing solar powered refrigerated space to local food distros Providing local kids (and adults) access to training on permaculture and living with minimal impact on the planet. Ghost hunters~ many boarders have seen a floating lady in a long white dress.. we call her the "white witch". Often when traversing the trails at night we have found areas with severe temperature drops. We are far enough away from town to have spectacular viewing of stars Experience the life on an Arabian show horse facility for a few days! We have 20 amp electrical hook up, hot/cold water in the horses wash racks. a public restroom with toilet. We have a charcoal grill, and a fire pit. Feel free to gather wood from anywhere on the property for the fire pit. Bring charcoal lighter to get the fire going unless you are a primitive survivalist. WE ALSO HAVE A PLAYGROUND FOR SMALL CHILDREN! We do NOT have a public shower but the Love's and the QT station are both 3 miles away and they have several super nice showers available at their truck stop! The barn lounge has a fridge and microwave, ceiling fan for relaxing and watching the lessons and horse training! Sign up for a few lessons for a fee while you are here! (when an instructor has an opening, must book in advance) Bring your own horses and ride the trails! **Warning** there are a few weeks mid Summer when the deer flies are swarming and the trails are not good for riding horses! WE DO NOT HAVE 30amp electrical hook ups but many large RV's turn off hot water heaters and use propane on their fridges and the 20 amp circuit was plenty to power the rest of their RV or use generators!

A hidden gem only minutes away from FDR! As much as I love GA State Parks in general and FDR in particular - I won't camp in FDR as long as this wonderful place is available. Exactly as described: you have the entire campsite for yourself. Peaceful and quiet! At the same time, you don't feel lost in the wild: there are other houses (nearest is maybe 2-3 hundred yards away, you can't see it, but you know it is there) and you can still drive to Warm Springs for your morning coffee. FHU worked perfectly, the site is flat and easy to back in. You may want to bring a flashlight because it is dark at night. Also bring outdoor table and chairs is you wanna sit by the campfire.

Nothing says beauty like a herd of Arabian horses galloping across a meadow!

6 nights at Sun Valley Horse & Hiking Camp!

This was such a fun place to stay! The weather wasn't the best the week I was there, rainy and cold. But nevertheless the experience of staying at a working stable was fun. Every morning the horses get fed, then let out of their stables into the fields. And every evening they get brought back in. I stayed around the back of the main stable next to the juvenile pen. They have 2 youngsters who I ended up making friends with. If you can't tell I'm not a horse person. But being able to stay at Sun Valley, I'm learning to love them! Definitely worth the stay. Note: you're staying amongst the stables, so expect flies and smells. Enjoy the atmosphere! It's all part of the experience!

The location, convenience, and safety of this Hipcamp is great. Easy access to bike trails, bike lanes, and the bus system into downtown Atlanta was the closest in the area. Adding and changing dates and times was easy. Having access to the gate codes made coming and going easy, also. The chickens and roosters added a hone spun touch.

Scott was incredibly nice guy. Love what he is building at the Golden Goose. Living the dream! Showers and toilets are built ans is the party shed and they may not yet show on his page. This was just a “passing through” trip for us and he is a little off the beaten path but worth the few minutes to get there. Maybe 20 minutes from the Buc-ees at Warner Robbins so you’ve got everything….and a beautiful drive to get there!!

Loved the location, we could ride our bikes all the way to the Atlanta Beltline bike trail. Everyone was very nice and helpful. The door to the street was very convenient, also. I loved the chickens and rooster visiting us, especially running to our RV when cooking and the smoke detector went off. Too funny.

This place is great! The property is very nice and well maintained and the hosts are friendly. Notably Lisa, we chatted with her several times and each interaction was super pleasant. Interacting with the farm animals was fun, especially the sweet farm dogs. From driving through the trails in one of the rentable golf carts to swinging on a tree swing, our trip was awesome from start to finish. Would definitely recommend and we hope to return!
