We have a nice little RV pad on the back of our coastal home. Situated on a little bayou that opens out into Choctawhatchee Bay. Crab Island is only a 10 minute boat ride away. You would have access to our small dock and there is a neighborhood boat ramp less than one hundred feet away. This is a great place for kayaks, wave runners, and small boats. If you don't have a boat, we can set up any kind of trip you want. We are all licensed captains and own multiple Crab Island businesses. So we can set up charters for you on the following boats: Sailing trip on a restored 1963 Pearson Ensign. Can accommodate up to 6 people. This is a classic sailboat that is easy to sail and easy to learn to sail. A restored 1966 Boston Whaler that is perfect for couples looking for a sunset cruise, etc. Can accommodate up to 6 people but it perfect for 2 -4. We can go to Crab Island, look for dolphins or find our own private island beach. Waverunner tours. We can take you on a guided wave runner tour looking for dolphins and private beaches. You will drive one wave runner while our licensed captain guided you on another one. Insurance does not allow us to rent these out solo but there are many good vendors in the area to do that. Inshore flats skiff targeting redfish and trout on light spinning gear and fly rods. This boat is best fished with no more than 3 people. Rates: $150 per hour for less than 3 hours $500 for half day (4 hours) $600 for 6 hours The neighborhood is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Fort Walton with large oaks and magnolias providing plenty of shade for bike riding and walking. Downtown Fort Walton with its shops and quaint restaurants is only a mile away. Didn't bring a bike, we have 2 you can use. During the summer, there are fireworks every Wednesday night that are viewable from this spot. The site comes with water/sewer and 30 Amp hookup. We had a great time at this location. But to be honest we were just sleeping here. There are some things that might not make it so for others. It is very close to a busy highway, which is very noisy. While there is a NICE bathhouse, there was no hot water. And there were no window coverings on the double French doors that served as the entrance. It faced a driveway so there was traffic going up and down. So basically you were exposed. The owner has a wonderful big dog. Sweet as sugar but when the dog came running at me full tilt it was a little unnerving. She was not under her owners control. Plus I had my two smaller dogs on leashes and I was actually afraid of what they might do to the bigger dog. I asked if he might put his dog up which he wasn’t willing to do. All that being said it served its purpose

Weekend Trip to Larry & Sheila's Blackwater Getaway

I booked Sheila's RV spot #1 near the pavilion about two hours before my 9pm arrival. I was on a long road trip and getting tired, so I was grateful for the ability to instant book the site and even more grateful when she responded right away letting me know she'd turned the lights on for me. The place is beautiful. The RV spot and pavilion are right next to the river which is surrounded by lush vegetation and a sandy shoreline. It was really picturesque and peaceful. The pavilion has electricity with a sink, a fully enclosed toilet room, and an outdoor shower. If I'd had more time, I would have loved to spend more time there.... especially if I was traveling with friends and family. As a solo traveler, I got a little spooked by the series of long, dark, and windy roads between the main highway and the property... especially because cell service was spotty. So while it's perfect because it's remote, I'd encourage solo travelers to arrive before sundown.

Eric’s spot was everything promised. Very nice man, he even started us off with a bundle of wood incase we wanted an evening fire. The cozy seating area was protected from the wind and a very nice spot for morning coffee!

This is your own private spot. Bath house and laundry included. Plenty of space for whatever you have. Easy to get to and everything was exactly how described. Lots of ticks so check animals and yourself after you’ve been outside!

Weekend Trip to Local's Life

Do you like to fish? Maybe just play with your water toys? This is your spot! The nearby (quiet) boat ramp with easy access to the bay or sound is a major bonus. Beaches, downtown, shopping all just mins away. Clean and tidy spot with a cozy bench and nice little fire pit. Would definitely book here again.

Excellent directions. Peaceful location. Ease of backing into the spot. We woke up, opened the door and listened to the doves and other birds singing while watching the sunrise and drinking our coffee. Would definitely recommend!!

Thanks to the Reviews here AND the quick Reply to my HipCamp message ~ booked an unexpected getaway. WHAT a great place to start the new year and experience the 1st full moon. The hosts were super accepting and accommodating of my late arrival. It's only an hour away to put your toes in the sand! And that sparkling clean, hot shower is a huge bonus after a day at the beach. Even got a guided tour of the property. Peaceful & private ~ perfection! The hosts' care for the campers promotes an obvious feel of community. CanNOT wait to go back in the spring!

Lots of room for our 36 foot fifth wheel and truck. Easy in and out access. The utilities are as stated. It is basically in a back yard setting. It was nice to have our camper covered. I found it a little more crowded than what the pictures showed. But I would definitely stay there again.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The Wandering Path is true off-grid goodness. We spent a few days camped along Blackwater Creek, and from the moment we arrived, it felt like the kind of place you come to unplug on purpose. Tall pines, open sky, sandy creek bends, and that deep, steady quiet that only exists when you’re far from roads and routines. We were there during a cold front with nights in the 20s, and it honestly made the experience even better — longer fires, slower mornings, dogs curled closer, kids wandering freely, and time stretching out the way it should. This is primitive camping done right: simple, intentional, and respectful of the land. The sites are thoughtfully spaced so you feel tucked into nature, not stacked on top of each other. It’s a perfect fit for off-grid campers, overlanders, tent campers, families, and dog lovers who appreciate space, silence, and stars. If you’re looking for a place with good energy, room to roam, and a reminder of how grounding it feels to live simply for a few days — this is it. We left feeling lighter and more connected, and we’d return in a heartbeat.
