(Please, no outside firewood to be brought on the property) Caroline County Maryland is a wonderful place to visit with plenty of opportunities for boating, fishing, hiking in nearby Martinak and Tuckahoe State Parks,Adkins Arboretum, access to public boat ramps, touring the Harriett Tubman Byway,produce stands, wineries, orchards,and close proximity to the Maryland and Delaware beaches as well as Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge in neighboring Dorchester County. We're also less than two hours from Washington D.C., and Baltimore, and less than an hour from our state capitol, Annapolis. We loved the island and La Mar was an amazing host. 5 of us spent a weekend on the island. If you have no experience canoeing, be prepared. Being from NYC, we are inexperienced and it took us an hour to row the mile to the island against the tide. if you can get your own power boat to take you there, it will make life a whole lot easier. definitely a challenge, but it was amazing once we made it. The island is relaxing for a weekend. You also get to do some fishing, though we didn't have much luck in October. also - low tide is really low tide. don't plan on going out until the tide comes in a bit. I would recommend taking lots of firewood and a portable toilet. I can't say enough about how communicative and accommodating La Mar is. We're already talking about our next trip.

As a quick getaway we booked La Mar’s island. It’s pretty well kept and has a large campfire area overlooking the water. Easy fishing from the island as long as it’s not low tide. Lots of space to camp with multiple tents if desired. You’re able to watch bald eagles and other wildlife, we even saw an otter. The only downfall is you can hear the highway all night long. I would definitely book again for a quick getaway!

We had a lovely stay this past weekend! We had the whole place to ourselves which was nice. Dale delivered our firewood and farm fresh eggs right to our campsite upon arrival. Site 5 is the furthest away from the farm market which is where the bathroom and shower are located, maybe a 10 minute walk. The shower is outdoors, but equipped with hot water, enclosed in a stall and very clean. There was some noise from an event being held at the venue behind the market one night, but it was far enough away that it didn’t bother us. The only downsides to the site were lack of shade and privacy from the road that runs behind the property. I would definitely recommend bringing a canopy for shade. If I stayed again, I’d probably choose site 4 as there are tall patches of wildflower meadows in between each site, which provides a little more privacy. Overall, a great place to stay and very convenient for all of the places we wanted to visit nearby!

Not a cramped golf cart sites here. Peaceful pastures with scenic views and a culture deep in history and the arts. Our host was spectacular and very accommodating. He even threw in a free guitar lesson which we needed badly lol.. lots to experiences in the surrounding area. Antiquiting, thrift stores and farm markets are frequently found . Fishing and crabbing was great. This is a hidden go to getaway. Love it.

It was a wonderful experience. We went there to spend the weekend and we absolutely loved it. The island was very well maintained and had enough privacy. Even though we could hear the highway noise it didnt bother us much. And being a bird watcher myself, i was overjoyed by seeing the wildlife around this area including ospreys and bald eagles.We spent entire day fishing in kayak and photographing birds. And LaMar was awesome host and was very responsive. He went above and beyond to help us with the trip. Would love to come back !

Phil’s land is amazing!! And so is he!! His communication was timely and helpful, he answered our questions before booking, met us when we arrived, and was all around lovely. The land is excellent with campsites that have a view of the alpacas. We got to watch the babies and the mamas from our site. Phil introduced us to the alpacas and shared all sorts of interesting tidbits. They are so cute and silly, we had a great time interacting with them. Sites had plenty of space with excellent picnic table and fire pit. The porta pot was clean and well cared for. The store selling the alpaca yarn was super cute. The night sky was brilliant!

Quiet...you're deep in the back of the property with plenty of space and natural blockage that you don't even know you're in someone's yard. Host was friendly, and left us be. We travel that area frequently, and usually stay at a state park... Yeah, this was much better!!! It's is a no-hook up site... We had our generator going pretty much the whole time, no issues.

Very cozy spot, open space and private. Lots of fresh natural wood to burn, and a really nice opening in the trees to look at the stars. Very accommodating host, especially as we had some delays and got there after sunset. Highly recommend, would stay again!
