The octagon is a private 122 ft.² that is electrified and heated. It has a full size bed, cabinet and table with chairs. It sits next to a brook on 56 acres of forest with a pond, small waterfall, marsh and 2 1/2 miles of hiking trails. There is a fire pit and outdoor dining area next to the octagon. We also have a propane outdoor grill and propane two burner camp stove. Out house with composting toilet close to octagon is heated. A great place to rejuvenate in the forest! Dogs welcome.

The property's backdrop is the lush James Goodwin forest where you can walk directly from to hiking trails. Fall asleep under the magnificent brilliance of the millions of stars, hear nothing but the sound of crickets, croaking frogs, hooting owls; see fireflies light up the night and fall asleep to the sound of the streams running right alongside the property. Watch the ariel acrobatics of the swallows swoop into the barn to feed their chicks! The two streams feed into the huge Natchaug River right across the street which is great for fishing, or spending the day at Diana's pool basking on the rocks with a picnic lunch. The area and property is perfect for hiking, horseback riding, small retreats, family gatherings all the while enjoying nature at its purest.
We offer a Weber grill and large fire pit and outdoor picnic table with umbrella.
You can either sleep in the barn, down in the clean stalls, or up in the barn loft. Bring supplies as if you are camping ie bedding, hammock, tent, sleeping pad or inflatable mattress. There is a long wooden table up in the barn loft that seats 14. There are games up there too, (dominos, cards, trivial pursuit etc). You may also camp outside under the starry skies.
No loud music. Noise off by 10.30pm please
We provide a VERY clean porta potty and the barn has electricity and running (cold) water. Bring a solar portable shower should you need.

Weekend Trip to Glamping with the Wild Horses
We had an amazing time! When we got there we were greeted by Jody & she was AMAZING! She helped us get settled in and made sure we knew that if there was anything we needed we could call her. The beds were incredibly comfortable, it downpoured so hard for most of the night and the dome was great! It didn’t let a single drop of rain in. There’s a wood stove in the dome and it was enough to keep us toasty warm even though it was in the low 30’s, they also provide tons of warm comfy blankets. There was plenty of wood chopped right outside the domes so if you run out it’s very close. We were able to go and help feed the herd and had the opportunity to give plenty of scratches! In the morning we booked the hike with the horses with Tatianna & Chris which was amazing! We were actually in the areas with the gorgeous herd and were able to get hands on again! I honestly could go on all night talking about how amazing it was but in my opinion the very best part of everything was the fact that every single cent that I spent while we were there went right back into caring for and maintaining the herd. When I was looking for a place to go that’s what sealed the deal and made the decision to pick this place very easy!! I highly HIGHLY recommend checking it out for yourself, you won’t be disappointed!

We overnighted here for my sons birthday fishing trip. 3x 13 year olds and dad. Jocelyn was an amazing host. Super friendly and approachable. The barn is a great place for cold nights and rain. It’s a great way to plan a camping trip without worrying about rain or weather. If you are into trout/small mouth fishing the Natchaug is right across the street and there are many many walks all around. Great location will definitely be back again!

This was so much fun! To wake up and see the horses (and donkeys!) wandering right outside our dome was perfect, and getting to do the walk about with MacKenzie and learn about the horses and their background was so interesting.
The dome was clean and cozy, with a little wood stove. We weathered a hurricane in October with no problems.

Weekend Trip to Inlaw Apt @River near Casino, Kayak
Loved staying here! The view is amazing, and the outdoor patio area has a sofa and outdoor fire pit, which was so cozy on a cool fall night. We used the canoe on the river - loved that Gina has kayaks and a canoe for guests to use (and life vests). Inside the apartment was so clean and the bed and sofa bed were very comfortable. Gina left us a basket of snacks and fruit, coffee and a vase of beautiful fresh flowers welcomed us when we arrived. Gina was great to communicate with and answered all my questions. She lives upstairs, but we felt like we had the place the ourselves. I would highly recommend staying here. Also check out Arrowhead Acres bakery, winery and farm - just 12 minutes from the property. Delicious food and wine. Had dinner at a Peruvian restaurant in Norwich called Canggio Restaurant. Such great food!!

Weekend Trip to Glamping with the Wild Horses
MacKenzie’s wild horse sanctuary is a very special place! We had a great experience. All of the staff were very knowledgeable and kind. We learned a lot about their mission and had a lot of interaction with the horses.
The glamping domes were very comfortable and nicely decorated. There was a grill by the communal campfire for cooking, but you will need to bring your own pots and pans, utensils, plates, etc. You should also bring your own drinking water. The terrain near the domes is rocky and uneven, so you should bring good shoes, even if you don’t plan on hiking. You have to walk for a little bit to get to the outhouse, but it is the nicest-looking and nicest-smelling outhouse you will ever see!
If you love horses, put this place on the top of your list!

Our visit was so much more than we imagined — not only did we gain fascinating insights into positive reinforcement training, but we also had the joy of experiencing it firsthand. We easily fit 5 of us in the top floor with air mattresses (If you are planning on sleeping on the first floor, definitely bring a tarp or blanket to put down). The outdoors area was well maintained with a great firepit where we sat around the flames and listened to the frogs and crickets and such. Would recommend. Was fun to watch the swallows as well. Porta Potty was very clean and had a convenient solar light next to it to help you find it in the dark.

This property and host were fantastic! We set up our tents in the back and truly appreciated having the barn as a shelter when it rained. The electricity was a great bonus, making it a step up from traditional camping. Plus, Diana's Pool was just down the road and provided a fun afternoon activity.

Five stars aren’t enough to describe our stay at the picturesque Octagon. This is a perfect getaway for a solo traveler or couple. Nancy thought of all the details, and we felt so welcomed. We cooked dinner over the bonfire, and in addition to the tiny house, enjoyed the outdoor shower and a hike through this beautiful property. I hope to return one day!

Weekend Trip to Glamping with the Wild Horses
My partner and I decided on a whim to spend a long weekend here. We are so glad we did! We loved everything about this. The domes are very homely, the grounds have everything you might need (except potable water, but there are plenty of places to get that for yourselves nearby) and you’re never very far from any horses. The hosts are kind and very accommodating. They are also clearly very passionate about their work caring for and training wild mustangs and donkeys. The fact that proceeds go to support their nonprofit is excellent. They are doing great work with their consent-based training program. The guided horse tours and demonstrations are very fun and informative, so make sure to book those with your stay. The surrounding area (within 30min in all directions) also offers lots to do and great places to eat. Can’t believe a place like this exists <90min from Boston! We will definitely be back for another visit.

With kids
Our family of five (kids ages 5, 9, 12) had a great time. This is a family-run operation. Mac Kenzie and her husband and in-laws were superb hosts who went above and beyond to meet all of our needs--extra fans, hats with bug nets, frozen water bottles, you name it.
We were there on a very hot summer day. The dome was hot and stuffy during the day but cooled down to reasonable sleeping temperature at night. The outhouse was clean and not one bit smelly. The campsite had some extras we were not expecting--bug spray, spatula and tongs for the BBQ, towels. The two double beds in the Comfy Contrasts dome are lofted one over the other. The three domes are very close together, so had there been other guests, we would effectively have all been camping together.
The hike with horses was extremely worthwhile and gave us a much better understanding of the work Wild Ride does. They took us on a comfortable, easy walk to accommodate our kids, so don't be intimidated by the description of the hike as steep and strenuous.
We did a little other hiking on the property, but there wasn't a whole lot to do. or see. I would definitely recommend this spot if you have activities planned nearby (and Mac Kenzie and co were full of recommendations) but would not suggest relying on the property itself to provide all your entertainment.

With kids
We had the most amazing weekend with our 7 year old. The hosts were so warm and kind and we loved learning about how to train wild mustangs. We went on a hike with the mustangs and they all have such unique personalities. What a gift this place is for them. We also found it to be a gift! The domes were beautiful- comfortable beds and a small private space to change. The three of us were very comfortable in Serene dream but we will bring our other two children for the bunk beds next time! The bathroom (outhouse) was so nicely decorated you forget about the smell ;) The campfire was fantastic and there was wood ready for us. My husband and son played corn hole and we grilled for dinner. The grounds are fun to explore and all while seeing the beautiful mustangs roam! We will definitely be back.

This place is magical. Beautiful, impeccably clean and decorated - even the bathroom was incredibly quaint. McKenzie was welcoming and kind. I wish I could stay for a week. We'll definitely be back.
