Cedar Hills Oliva Ranch is a 105-acre ranch with nine 11.6-acre campsites, each of them on beautiful and varying heights and terrain, with a secluded feel as each is located out of view from the other campsites. They are excellent for "primitive" camping year-round, and comprise wildlife (deer, elk, bear, hawks, antelope, etc.), grassy meadows, cedar-covered hills both gradual and steep, sandstone rock formations, seasonal white sand arroyos, and the occasional cattle wandering through. Because of its southern Colorado geography, snow typically does not accumulate deeper than 3"-4", even in the deepest winter months, so it makes camping just as easy and pleasant from November through March. Each campsite has its own character and unique views of nature, so nine camping trips on each of our sites will feel different from the previous adventure, each presenting a distinctly intimate feel. Additionally, a great benefit of Cedar Hills Oliva Ranch is while campers may enjoy deafening silence and see every star in the Milky Way Galaxy on a clear night, just 10 minutes from the ranch south on CR 69 lies a 24-hour gas station and three fast food restaurants. From there, another 5 minutes south, is the historic town of Walsenburg, where you may find expanded restaurant choices, a Safeway, and hardware store for other provisions - and more! In case of a "medical mishap," Spanish Peaks Regional Health Center is approximately 18 minutes from any of our campsites, and open 24 hours. Lastly, while not visible from the ranch, a new cell tower was erected approximately 2 miles northeast and is very reliable from anywhere on the ranch when having a clear view of the eastern horizon. Weekend Trip to JB Recreational Ranch

Joshua’s land was just what we were looking for. Extremely peaceful and a night sky that will blow your mind. We spent two nights here in our van and fell in love with the Spanish Peaks area. Do yourself a favor and pop over to Great Sand Dunes NP, about a 1.5 hour drive and worth every minute. Lots of cool old farming artifacts on the property too. Really enjoyed our stay, thanks Joshua!

While we didn’t get to the crescent with our 20-foot trailer, Nicholas guided us to a very nice, secluded spot that we thoroughly enjoyed. If you like camping in peaceful, private spots, this is it. Lots of birds during the day, a tarantula in the afternoon, and several singing coyotes every evening.

Weekend Trip to JB Recreational Ranch

Lizards, beetles, rocks, bones, wild turkeys, the sounds of a flowing creek, and a night sky to make you feel so small. For the kids, this campsite had everything they needed for a weekend of grand memory-making. For the parents, you can sit back comfortably at the top of the hill, watch the kids as they wander the entire property, and take in the views of the Spanish Peaks. We love this area, but this site might be the best we've experienced.

What an incredible place to camp. The views of the mountains and listening to the birds with bugs was astounding. Nicholas’s land is so beautiful. We hiked around and explored so much and saw no less than five different cacti all blooming, along with a slew of other amazing plant life. Watching the storms come in from the west and build up over the mountains was so beautiful

We stayed three nights at High Garden RV Park and recommend it HIGHLY! Tamara is friendly, a great host, and takes an amazing amount of pride in her park. The park has all pull through sites and the hookups are well laid out and in pristine condition. The park has great views, is very level, and feels very secure. Each site has thick artificial turf that is soft and clean, our dogs loved it. It is a great place to stop and enjoy the Florence and Canon City area. The rates are very reasonable for such a nice place. It would also be a great place to stay long term. There are some strict rules that we were expected to follow, but they were not overly restrictive, and were a big factor in keeping the place nice and relaxed. We did have some visitors one afternoon, we let Tamara know, and she was just as gracious to them as she was to us. Great Campground!
