4 nights at PR Ranch - Fly Fishing

This is a little secret I hate to let people know about. We were the only ones camping this week. We had the entire place to ourselves. We ran into the owner and 2 ranch hands a couple of times, but besides that we were all alone. The owner and ranch hands were extremely nice. The fly fishing was top notch. I fished for 3 days and caught 15-18 inch trout every day. The river was maintained very well. We were here the first week of October and the colors of the trees was unbelievable. My wife wanted seclusion, river, and colors. I wanted fly fishing. We got everything we both wanted. I want to visit this ranch again.

Beautiful spot on the river! County rd next to it but is rarely used. I did have some families of Amish drive by in horse and buggy. Good fishing. River was low but I managed a handful over a day and a half, one 18”. Height of leaves changing and so colors were amazing. Great hosts. Provide all firewood too!

I was struggling with my equipment and the hosts helped me get everything set up for a comfortable stay. It brought good stay to a great stay and I was so grateful! Lance is an exceptionally courteous and responsive host. His land is truly spectacular. It's a private paradise for people that want to get off the beaten path with a camper. The river is beautiful and this spot it is totally worth the price. It may not be everyone's cup of tea without the amenities of a campground/RV park, but if you don't want all that and are looking for quiet breathtaking views, with space for your fur babies to frolic through fields and swim in the river, this place is for you. I'm so grateful I was able to spend time here and will likely return next year!

4 nights at Riverfront Campsite on a Ranch!

We LOVED our time at PR ranch. It was exactly what we were looking for- secluded, beautiful, and accessible. We hiked a bit, played in the river (young sons), fished, and just enjoyed being outside together. We drove through some of the Rio Grande National forest and that was awesome, we even got to see Bighorn sheep. Glenn is a lovely man and took us around the property in his mule (4- wheeler). We highly recommend this property.

Weekend Trip to PR Ranch - Fly Fishing

We stayed at site#1. It was truly one of the most amazing sites we’ve stayed at, and we’ve stayed at several. Glenn’s ranch is about 20 min from Monte Vista. The Alamosa River cuts through much of it. Site #1 sits right off of the road, which is no big deal because there is very little traffic that comes through that county road. The site is big and flat with plenty of shade. Sits directly on the river with a nice shallow wading area. My husband enjoyed lots of fly fishing & caught several fish. There are 2 nice fire pits & a grate. Glenn was very accommodating & communication was easy. We enjoyed meeting him & learning about the area & ranch. Hope to be back again sometime. I suspect my husband will look him up to come back to stay on the ranch & flyfish someday:)

My wife and I spent 2 nights and absolutely loved it. William was a great host and made us feel welcome, and the camping area had everything we needed to cook and clean. Great spot just outside of Durango. Comms from the host were excellent. Easy to find. Power hook up was a real plus, and clear sky views for Starlink. There is a house on the other side of the fence but felt private and quiet. Saw wildlife running in the bush. The road coming in is quite convex so if you have low clearance be careful.

3 nights at Bristol Mountain RV Park & Cabins

Our stay at Bristol Mountain/Broken Arrow Ranch was wonderful! We stayed in our 27ft fifth wheel and it was perfect. Plenty of room in our spot. The views were probably my favorite part of staying here. The property was clean, nice and very quiet. The location is great close to a few great hikes and scenery. It was close to Creede you could be to town in about 15 minutes which was perfect. I loved the phone booth lol. We had 2 dogs with us and it was fine for them! I would definitely recommend staying here. I have no doubt we will be back.

5 nights at Ribbit Retreat

Great site close enough to activities of Durango but far enough that you get the mellowness of being in nature. We had deer visit and saw a coyote in the distance which was super cool. Our dogs loved being able to be off leash but make sure you have them under good voice control because there is wildlife. The host was super responsive and communicated well. We didn't need any of the hook ups so stayed in a nice treed area to keep cool when it got warm. Would definitely stay again.

Site 2. Rigs longer than 55-60' (when connected) might have trouble unhooking due to the slope

A very peaceful property within 12 minutes of Walmart and 15 minutes of historic downtown Durango. We enjoyed watching the deer and elk wander by in the evenings. We stayed in site 2 in a 35' fifth-wheel with slides on both sides. Of the 2 sites, site 1 is the longer of the 2 sites and 24' feet wide. It looked pretty level side to side with a little bit of a downhill grade (front to back). There is about 6' between the power pole and the fence, so plenty of room to walk around the backside of your rig. Site 2 is also 20'+ wide, but shorter due to a steep drop at the front of the site and required a little bit of levelling side-to-side (1 block under the tires).
