It was passed down as a mining claim from my grandmother who founded it in the '60s. The vision for the land was simply perfect. A small 10 x 10 cabin with the whole mountain to explore and whoever they wished to bring with them. The town of Nederland is 10 minutes down the road where you can fish at Baker Reservoir. Lots of fun little stores in town to keep the family busy. Wildlife is everywhere up by the cabin/campsite, always remember don't leave food lying around with lots of great things to look for around the magical town of Nederland. The cabin sleeps up to 8 with the futon downstairs being very comfortable and 3" foam upstairs in the loft for more sleeping area. Bring your sleeping bags to stay cozy at night. There are lanterns inside to light up your night with a wood stove to keep you warm at night. The ground around it is sloped so you may have a hard time setting up any tents around the cabin. The grocery store is in Nederland where you can buy food, Coleman green propane bottles, gallon jugs of water and wood. There is a 3 burner Coleman, stove to cook on with limited pots & pans as well as silverware. Road disclaimer, the road to the cabin is one lane dirt road. The drive up to the cabin is pretty good but the turn onto the single dirt road to the cabin has a slight dip, if you have a low-clearance car it may bottom out when you are turning so be careful. No Trailers. They will not be able to turn around once there. Recommend vehicles with AWD. Go 3.4 miles up Caribou road. Turn right @ yellow stakes go .4 miles. Park on the left. Hike down to the cabin between yellow stakes. We are @ 10,000 feet and it is a slight hike to the cabin. Go 3.4 miles up Caribou road. Turn right @ yellow stakes go .4 miles When leaving please make sure both door locks are locked, put the key in the lock box and mix the code for the next camper.

Above the site sits bristlecone pines that have appeared in ansel adams prints and are absolutely amazing. The sites sit on 160 private acres which borders national forest. There is a small a-frame tent that's insulated with big windows, locking door, skylight, solar for charging electronics, and a full size bed. The cabin is roughly the size of the full size mattress but seems bigger because of the a-frame roof. Its warm and cozy and keeps the critters and animals out, so you feel safe and comfortable. There are lots of amenities on site.  There is a picnic table, 10'x12' waterproof awning and wood deck.  There is a bbq, bear box, huge stone fire pit and bucket toilet. The road into the site was graded last year but still has small potholes typical of a Colorado county road, most low-profile cars will do fine.  If you have a rv or camper, the turn around is limited, no tow behind campers or vehicles over 20'

Cots and a hammock are available for use in the Greenhouse, but you will have to bring your own sleeping mats, sleeping bags and pillows. Sleeping mats and sleeping bags on the floor are also an option if you choose. Picnic tables are close to the Greenhouse for enjoying time outdoors. The Glamping in the Aspens Tent has a wood burning stove in it that will be available starting later season 2024. Firewood for the wood stove will be provided for you. Just outside the tent is a picnic table with BBQ grill and propane fire pit. There is a porch area with outdoor kitchen and a queen sized bed inside the tent. A comfy dog bed is also included. A composting toilet is available for use. No showers currently available (Bath House coming soon). Well behaved dogs are allowed, however, they must be on a leash or under voice command. There are 2 dogs that live on the property as well as chickens, turkeys, and a cat. All will be contained so as not to disturb (except for the occasional rooster crow). You will find happiness, peace, the sound of the winds in 3000 year old trees, alpine streams tricking through ancient untouched forests, great horned owls and moose calling into the night, coyote echoing at sunset signaling night approaching, the warm smell of pine and summer grasses, touching the warm rocks next to the stream while you listen to the birds and crickets. I could go on and on, these are the things I see when I close my eyes and think of this place. This site sits at the base of (2) 14ers. in thee middle of a sunken meadow. This is the most beautiful and secluded camping experience you will experience in Colorado. There are miles of 4x4 and atv trails. There are countless hiking trails for day and short nature hikes. Above the site sits bristlecone pines that have appeared in ansel adams prints and are absolutely amazing. The sites sit on 160 private acres which borders national forest. There is a small a-frame tent that's insulated with big windows, locking door, skylight, solar for charging electronics, and a full size bed. The cabin is roughly the size of the full size mattress but seems bigger because of the a-frame roof. Its warm and cozy and keeps the critters and animals out, so you feel safe and comfortable. There are lots of amenities on site.  There is a picnic table, 10'x12' waterproof awning and wood deck.  There is a bbq, bear box, huge stone fire pit and bucket toilet. The road into the site was graded last year but still has small potholes typical of a Colorado county road, most low-profile cars will do fine.  If you have a rv or camper, the turn around is limited, no tow behind campers or vehicles over 20'

What a wonderful visit to the sweetest Cabin imaginable. Hartsell is a darling little town with lots to do within a short drive… Hot Springs, a drive-in, movie theater, great restaurants and outdoor activities. The house was exactly as pictured with wood for the fireplace, a well stocked kitchen, a cozy bed, plenty of extra blankets and pillows, and absolutely stunning views. We had an incredible time and would go back in a heartbeat!

4 nights at Laughing Valley Retreat

We had an awesome time at the Laughing Valley Ranch! Bill showed us around and we loved looking at the animals, he’s a very knowledgeable and kind man. The campsite was an a gorgeous outlook that made for fantastic views. We are birders, so loved all of the cool birds around. Joe also made our stay super easy and comfortable! He gave us rides to the site, made sure we had wood and water, and showed us some cool spots around the land. Big shoutout to Joe! Overall we really enjoyed our time here, great place to get away and take in the mountain view’s for a couple of days, while not being super far from Denver and the cute town of Idaho Springs. Recommend this spot for any hiking, camping, or overall nature lovers.

This home was the coziest and most relaxing place to stay ever!!! 🥰Such happy and warm vibes all around even staying on a 40 degree weekend!!! The wood burning stove was so amazing and kept the house so warm! There was even firewood available!!! 😇I brought my own but it was awesome there was some extra! Me and my girlfriend cooked some delicious meals in the adorable, spacious, and well stocked kitchen! It was the most amazing birthday getaway and my girlfriend was so pleased as well! Thank you Lauren for hosting such a wonderful and beautiful home to the Hipcamp/ Airbnb community ☺️ we will 100% be back!!! Our little chiweenie, Mabel absolutely loved the home too! We had a fantastic stay at Laughing Valley a few weeks ago. The tent, campsite and amenities were impressive, making our experience comfortable and enjoyable. What truly stood out was our engagement with Joe, who took us on a tour and showed us all the cool ranch animals — his enthusiasm and kindness made the visit memorable. When a storm was approaching, Joe went above and beyond to ensure our tent was securely latched and that we felt safe and comfortable. Overall, we felt genuinely taken care of and already look forward to returning for another trip. Highly recommend!

I had a nice stay with my dog at the end of September. The view is as nice as everyone says. The site is big with an outdoor fire pit, but i didn't use. You are at 11k feet and will feel it hiking and chopping wood for kindling. That was fun with a heavy axe. The portable toilet is interesting. still not sure how I feel about it. Temps were down to 35 night but was fine inside with the wood stove. The road up is pretty rough, but I made it fine in a Tesla 3. Just go slow.

Loved the set up of this well built cabin. Wood stove was a nice feature and kept it nice and toasty inside even with freezing temps. Seclusive and convenient to hiking Mount Bross and even Mounts Lincoln, Cameron and Democrat. Saw a moose and several deer in the open area in front of the cabin which was a highlight.

Complete with a sofa, a number of chairs, a tent and a firepit, this place has it all!

The views from the spot were fantastic, and I was really impressed with how attentive and proactive the host was - from texting and driving us up to being there again when we left. It’s rare to have a host physically present both on arrival and departure, and it made the stay feel extra cared for. The tent is in good repair and tall enough to stand in comfortably and we appreciated many of the extras like woodstove and drinking water. My daughter especially loved seeing the animals and getting to take a donkey ride, which was a highlight of the trip.
