Good distance to/from Salida, while also feeling “off the grid”. Great views of the surrounding peaks. Suggest bringing warm layers for the cooler evenings and a warm comforter. Our dog prefers sleeping in his crate and the tent is big enough to setup in the corner. Recommend checking it out. Thank you!

This property is a beautiful hidden gem with amazing night guys, absolute solitude and responsive host. The cabin was larger than I expected with 2 beds in the loft, 2 beds on the main floor and a couch in the living room next to the wood stove. The wood stove heats up fast and provides house of heat without needing to reload and the propane burners for Coleman stove are perfect for cooking. Just bring some battery powered string lights for lighting at night and a headlamp. There are good hiking options on the property and the adjacent BLM lands.

Weekend Trip to Frenchman's Creek Ranch

We had the absolute best time at the canvas tents! The animals were the highlight of our stay, the walk to the river was amazing as well. While we were there, a momma cow actually had her baby, which was such a special and unforgettable experience. The setting is peaceful, the tents are cozy, and you really feel connected to nature. Todd and Belinda are truly wonderful hosts. They made us feel so welcome and went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and memorable. I had such a wonderful time on Lydia’s land. The views are incredibly beautiful and serene. Although it rained most of the time I was there, I stayed warm and dry in the tent. The bed was super comfy, and the shower was HOT. The host family is lovely. I definitely recommend!

Nice set up close enough to town but not too close that you're in the mix. We stayed here as our homes base for Salida's bike fest weekend and worked out great.

One of my favorite stays I’ve done! Instructions on how to get there/park were very clear. Property was beautiful with the sounds of nature and wildlife near by. Having the tent that faced the mountain made waking up and watching the sunrise was breathtaking! Chairs were out side the teepee so we got to enjoy all the star gazing and shooting stars. Can’t wait to stay again for another get away.

My family and I had a great time at Frenchman’s Creek! Our tent was spacious for the three of us and kept us shielded from the nightly showers. We enjoyed seeing the animals and the clean bathrooms/showers. I will definitely be staying here again when I am need of camping in the Buena Vista area!

I appreciated how well the hosts communicated with me and the cleanliness of the facilities. The site provided great access to several hiking trails in the area, plus quick access to downtown Leadville and Buena Vista. I'd definitely stay with Belinda and Todd again.

The tent was a perfect size and it was nice having it be on a platform so it wasn’t right on the ground. There were chairs inside and outside with a small table inside and a picnic table outside just like in the pictures. The listing says no fires but there is a propane fire but it didn’t work for us. I noticed one of their tent sites did have a functioning propane fire going so I’m not sure if they’re not allowed or if it was just out. Otherwise the site was beautiful, well kept and cool to see the cows right next to us! Bathrooms were clean and a short 2 min. walk away. They were communicative and recommended some restaurants in town for us!

Weekend Trip to Here Below Ranch

This place worked well for what I was looking for. The tent is spacious and features a queen bed, a table, and a toilet (with a trash bag that you will need to take with you). The anarondak chairs are very comfortable and perfect for stargazing. There is not a lot of light pollution, so the stars are wonderful! You will need to bring all of your camping supplies with you, as it is more of a bare-bones spot, but plenty of space to set up a "kitchen" inside the tent, or outside on the picnic table. It's about 14 minutes from Salida, which is convenient. The owner has a good packing list and advice- I would follow it. Mainly, temperatures can drop significantly at night in this climate, so be sure to bring warm clothes and blankets. My pup and I had a relaxing evening.

The canvas tent was perfect for us! So much space, as well as chairs, a small table, light, and the fire made it really easy and comfortable for a quick overnight. Belinda and Todd were friendly and helpful, and the cows that greeted us from the field made it extra special! Also loved walking down to the river.
