Weekend Trip to May's Luxury Farmstays
Absolutely WONDERFUL STAY! The location is a four minute drive to castle rock state park, the house is stocked with everything you may need including a full bar, seltzers and sodas, FRESH EGGS, and snacks (just bring your favorite creamer and bread for the perfect breakfast each morning)!
Our favorite part of the trip was the tub outside overlooking the lake that can be swam in along with their friendly fur animals that you can feed!
Highly recommend and hope to be back!

What a wonderful and relaxing experience. Forget to bring something… no worries this place has you covered! Amenities galore for a perfect glamping trip😁 perfect getaway from the city. Cozy pond with beautiful array of colorful fish. The hosts were delightful and welcoming. Loved the fun and friendly roosters, geese, ducks, and chickens. We will definitely be back again soon.

Overall, the campsite was a great experience! The accommodations were clean and comfortable, and the snack options were perfect—definitely a nice touch. The view of the city was absolutely stunning, and the peaceful, scenic atmosphere made it a relaxing getaway. Everyone we encountered was friendly and welcoming, which made the stay even better.
If I had one suggestion for the future, it would be to add more variety in terms of lodging. It would be awesome to see more tent options or even some expanded log cabin-style homes with extra bedrooms for families coming with kids. That would definitely take the experience to the next level.

This was the most accommodating place I have ever stayed. The cupboards and drawers are chock full of food and just plain stuff. Ultra-friendly host. The geese were a great lot of fun. Bring lettuce to feed them. Comfortable space, great shower, big kitchen. A little out of the way but very private as a result. Space to wander. I recommend taking the road in from Saratoga. Much easier drive to the top of the hill.

May's homestead was an amazing escape from the hustle and bustle of day to day suburbia. They go above and beyond to ensure your stay is stress ands hassle free while maintaining a zen-like retreat. The one thing I miss while away from home is my bidet but May's homestead exceeded my expectation with the Brondell bidet. It was just one of the many intricate details this retreat surprises guests with to surpass anything you can even imagine after looking at the pictures when you are about to book. Definitely will be returning and I highly recommend for any family or couple just looking to escape. Thank you both for an unforgettable weekend!

Great space, very chill. Very close to intersection of CA-35 and CA-9. Easy access to grocery stores, pharmacies in Saratoga and very close to all the parks along Skyline Blvd (CA-35).
There were other guests staying on the property close to us, but it wasn't a problem, but beware, there may be random children around due to this. The fish pond was extremely nice, I really loved the chickens, and there was a great view.
The Log Cabin was definitely a studio that was great for 2 people. I wouldnt want to stay there with more people.

Place was well stocked for cooking and eating there! The pond of koi fish, ducks, and chickens were so wonderful to spend time. I wish we could have spent more time hanging out there, especially on the deck. It was near other places to stay on the land but felt private and so special. I would recommend if you want a cozy place to stay while exploring the bay area.

A Perfect Getaway: Beautiful Views, Cozy Cabin, and Wildlife Galore!
We had an incredible stay at this charming log cabin at May’s log cabin studio farm! The setting is absolutely stunning, with breathtaking views that you can enjoy from sunrise to sunset. The property is alive with friendly chickens, ducks, geese, roosters, and even ravens — it felt like our own little wildlife sanctuary.
One of our favorite features was the awesome fish pond filled with large koi and goldfish. The innkeeper thoughtfully provides packets of food so you can feed them, which was such a peaceful and fun experience. Definitely take the suggestion to bring along two heads of lettuce — feeding the chickens, ducks, roosters, and geese was an absolute delight and made the stay even more memorable!
The cabin itself was cozy and thoughtfully stocked. The kitchen was amazing — it had everything we needed to cook plentiful Vegan meals without missing anything. The fridge was generously stocked, which was such a nice touch. The bathroom was a dream, featuring a wonderfully large shower.
The awesome outdoor clawfoot tub made for a perfect end to long days of hiking - we used it every day during our stay!
Speaking of hiking, there were fantastic trails nearby that offered both peaceful nature walks and more challenging hikes, depending on what you’re in the mood for.
Overall, this stay exceeded our expectations — peaceful, scenic, and so well equipped. We can’t wait to come back! 🏕️🐓🛀🐠

This is a beautiful property!! It was so peaceful. We loved all the hens and roosters running around, they were so friendly. The koi pond is so cute with a nice deck and picnic table to eat or relax at. They even provided fish food, so that was cool. We also loved the mixture of rustic and modern in the cabin. There were tons of amenities like heated floors, fancy shower heads, pantry food, fresh eggs, full bar, fully stocked kitchen, and even stuff like swim toys, high chair, and pack n play for kids. I liked that both bedrooms had their own TV. And two full bathrooms was pretty sweet too! Comfy beds. Tons of extra pillows and blankets, even heated blankets. The deck had a fire pit and bbq, and even a sink. We didn’t get a chance to try the outdoor bathtub, but it looked relaxing! My only complaint is the living room furniture could use an update, the recliner part of the chair was broken, and the futon wasn’t the comfiest, but minor issue considering how awesome everything else about the place was. The owners were super accommodating, anything we needed they took care of right away. We felt very welcome there! And we already plan on coming back.

This was a beautiful quiet cabin right on ridge-line of the Santa Cruz mountains. The host was accommodating and provided delicious fresh eggs, snacks, coffee, and beer. I would visit again. My kids enjoyed it. It was just right for 2 adults and 2 kids. The bed was very comfortable but I could not have slept on the foldable couch.
Overall, I loved it.

My husband and I had such a lovely stay. I felt like a kid at summer camp, I almost cried because I didn’t want to go home! The house has everything you could need, it has quirks but expected for a Hipcamp! The pond has so many beautiful fish, and you can feed them. The chickens, roosters, ducks and goose are all friendly and have their own personality. Sometimes we got a chicken fashion show along the deck through the sliding glass door. Every room has a view out to the pond and mountain range/ocean. The view from the deck or the pond are incredible. We got rain one of the days we were there and it didn’t matter, we still had an amazing view and cozied up with a puzzle we’d brought. There are other cabins on either side of you, but you have reasonable privacy. We got lucky and there weren’t bookings on both sides at the same time during our stay, YMMV. We were so close to trails, on the day we got good weather we visited the redwoods. That night I enjoyed a bath in the outdoor tub, to soak my tired bones, it was magical! We’re already talking about going back, our new happy place.

We felt very welcomed. The cabin was everything we imagined and more. The hosts meticulously made sure we had everything we could need or want for our vacation. All you’ll need to do is pack your clothes. Literally. They have a beautiful property. The chickens and roosters are people friendly and so
adorable. We thought we would hear the roosters but we didn’t. They provide earplugs by the bedside if you need them. But you won’t. Being close to all the animals we thought we might smell the coop but there wasn’t a foul smell anywhere on the property. The pond is beautiful. The host indicated we could wade in the pond but the weather was bad. The trails were right off the property and beautiful.
I always like to report the good and ugly about our experiences at locations we visit. Reviews from past visitors give you the real lowdown of the place. I’m sorry but there wasn’t a negative I can think of. Honestly I want to move in!

Bethany Reservoir State Recreation Area
Twenty minutes from Tracy is Bethany Reservoir State Recreation Area. Boat, fish, or windsurf along the 160-acre reservoir. Shaded picnic areas are dog-friendly and available near the boat ramp. Then, explore hilly back roads on challenging bike climbs or ride along the California Aqueduct Bikeway and view windmills in the recreation area. To end the day, set up at a nearby RV or tent campsite that is pet-friendly and has electrical hookups.
Black Chasm Cavern
About an hour and a half northeast of Tracy looms Black Chasm Cavern. The cavern’s beauty includes a stunning blue lake and millions of twisting helictite crystals, which defy gravity and grow abundantly throughout the chambers. Campers can explore the cavern with knowledgeable guides to view formations that resemble animals and figures like candy canes, butterflies, and even a dragon—the cave’s mascot. Additionally, cave explorers may traverse Miners Trail, an ecologically fragile area with convoluted marble monoliths, in a self-guided walking tour. Nearby cabin lodges, RV sites, and tent sites are available for campers who may want to visit the caverns for more than one day.
San Luis Reservoir State Recreation Area
San Luis Reservoir State Recreation Area is an ideal destination for campers seeking water-based activities. Situated about an hour and a half west of Tracy, the park sits around the expansive San Luis Reservoir. Launch a boat from designated ramps, fish for striped bass and catfish, and hike trails with scenic views of the reservoir and surrounding hills. The park features numerous tent and RV campsites equipped with picnic tables, fire rings, and restrooms, as well.

Rainfall is also more prevalent during this season, creating a greener landscape.
