This house is also only about an hour drive to beautiful Lake Almanor and the amazing gem of Lassen National Park. It is very easy to go up for a day to go boating, fishing, a hike to the hot springs and hydrothermal areas, or have a picnic. The drive between here and there is on well maintained roads and the scenery is absolutely stunning.
While Chico may look a bit far away on the map, the highway gets you there in 20 short minutes. This university town is well known for its mixture of vibrance, the arts, and small town rural living. The area boasts truly amazing restaurants, bars, shopping and modern amenities. Our property is very close to access points for the famous Upper Bidwell park. Under the living quarters is a fully stocked game room with cable bar and full sized pool table. The covered patio deck is perfect for lounging and and letting the breeze blow through. There is a nice outdoor BBQ zone with fully stocked indoor kitchen at arms reach as well.
Nearby are the horseshoe pits and flat areas for tent camping. There is ample parking for your quads trailers and other toys.
The driveway is rough for the first half and smooths out nicely once on the property.
Be advised an SUV or similar is recommended although the owners would drive their Mercedes and other regular passenger cars up the 2.0 mile driveway to the retreat.

Cabins
The Resort features eight cabins nestled in oak trees looking over the lakefront. Seven of our cabins are roomy one or two-bed studio cabins, each with its own half bath, kitchen, and screened porch. We have our prized one-bedroom log cabin, bath with tub/shower, and sleeping loft. Additionally, there are two secluded cabins set back with views of Hull Mt., each with one king bed, a restroom, outdoor cooking facilities, and a porch. All cabins have access to coin-operated hot showers. We are a bring-your-own-bedding facility. All cabin guests need to bring their own linens and pillows, as there is no linen service in the area. Cabins are booked for weekly stays Saturday to Saturday from mid-June through mid-August. Nightly stays are available early season, late season, or if we have openings two weeks out from the arrival date during high season.

Camping at its best! We offer 38 campsites plus 1 RV full hook-up (30amp) site, each with its own fire pit, table, and water. The campsites are nestled in a beautiful natural setting of oaks and pines, and are spread out all around the grounds with many lakefront and lake view sites. Some sit back with more privacy, but all sites offer easy access to the lake. RVs and trailers are welcome, and many sites are roomy enough to back right in. We follow the same weekly booking for most of our camps during high season, and do nightly early and late season. All camps are by reservation, so please call for availability.

We thoroughly enjoyed our one-night stay at Hanalee. The views overlooking the valley floor were absolutely breathtaking—truly million-dollar scenery. The accommodations were comfortable and well-appointed, with beautiful decks and plenty of cozy spots to relax and unwind.
We loved the extra touches like the picnic table, horseshoe pit, and tranquil pond. The surrounding trails were perfect for hiking and exploring nature. In the evening, we had a fantastic bonfire under the stars, and the stargazing was unforgettable.
Waking up to the sunrise from the deck, coffee in hand, was the perfect way to start the day. A truly special place—we only wish we could’ve stayed longer.

I appreciated how many different sleeping/camping accommodations it offered, from basic campsites, to yurts and cabins. The location was also very convenient to Lassen National Park which was a big plus for us!

4 nights at Little House in the Big Woods
This place was easy to find and SO CUTE! I wanted a little getaway to just chill by sun trees, and this was a great spot for that. I really enjoyed working on a puzzle with a hot tea, and cozied up by the space heater. The only thing is I think you have to request that the fridge gets turned on before you stay, and I didn't think to. It was cool, though, because I already planned to eat out and I just kept my water in there. Lol! The shower also works great, and I really enjoyed the little salt lamp.
