Splitrock Farm and Retreat started in January 2021 after a global search of a place to set roots, live off the land, and create an amazing place for recreation, relaxation, and rejuvenation.
Splitrock was part of a 160-acre avocado farm that prospered from 1970 to 2017, generating over 1million pounds of avocados per year until the previous owners switched off the water in 2017. Ben purchased 101 acres in 2021 with plans to harvest the dead avocado trees for firewood and replant with organic, sustainable crops such as grapes, citrus trees, and flowers.
Splitrock's attraction comes from its unique groves, magnificent granite boulders, and sweeping vistas. Mixed within the avocado groves are several ancient groves and solitary trees that include 150+ foot tall pines, hundreds of old oaks, and soaring palms. Freckled throughout the hillsides are thousands of humongous granite boulders, offering a prehistoric feel to the landscape. Above all, Splitrock offers unrivaled views. Over 40 miles of coastline includes views to Point Loma, the Carlsbad power station, and the Pendleton Hospital. To the northeast are views of near 11K foot snowy peaks of San Jacinto and San Gorgonio, with rolling hills of De Luz and Fallbrook in the foreground.

Sagewinds Farm is the first certified organic white sage farm in the world. Located in the high desert of San Diego county, between 3500 feet and 3800 ft. this beautiful 40 acres features caves, massive boulders to climb, views, flat land and privacy. At night the stars are magnificent and the milky way is visible...there are meteor showers several times a year. Permanent residents in the barn are the 2 mini horses to visit and four wonderful dogs. The nights are always cool and usually below 60% so be prepared to sleep well, even if the days are hot. There is almost always a breeze and sometimes a wind, so bring your kites. There are visiting animals that past thru and could include, coyotes, bobcats, Coatis, foxes, rabbits, quail, hawks and mountain lions. There are also some snake and lizards. We do have rattlesnakes. To make up for the rattlers we offer two flush toilets!
Camp on the healthy, beautiful and first Certified Organic White Sage Farm in the World. I like to tell people that this is sacred land and it is. Come see the magnificent boulder formations. Come for the quiet. Come for the stars. Remember that the Jacumba Hotel Hot Springs and restaurant is 5 minutes away and the food is exceptional.

Camp on top of the mountain, or camp in a cave or anywhere in between. See the Milky way on most nights, all have incredible stars. 40 acres. Visit our the little town of Jacumba Hot springs down the road. Exciting things are happening there. The Jacumba Hot Springs Hotel, really good food, organic produce, and of course the Water! They offer day passes. Weekend music events at the Hotel or the The Old Bathhouse where you listen under the most incredible stars. Bazaar at the Bathouse the first Saturday of the month.
This is the prettiest property in east county! And the healthiest! It is a Certified Organic White Sage farm. This is the old west! Come in the spring for the wild flowers on the land.
Come for the dark skies.
Come for the very occasional snow.
Most definitely come for all the Meteor showers.. You can see the Milky way on most nights

The place was super cool! Awesome that it’s really not far out of town and you still get a good camping vibe. Trex creek was very cool but the useable space is very limited. So keep that in mind if you book it. Neat spot though! Also, the goats, dogs, and wildlife are very noisy. So if that bothers you be aware. All in all a great trip for us though. Easy to get into, nice little camp shop if you need it. Decent bathroom. Will definitely go back and try out a larger campsite too!

This is a wonderful property with good amenities, opportunities for privacy, and solid management. The communication was excellent… The only mistakes made were due to a failure of reading on my part. We stayed at the hilltop hideout site, which was tucked away from the rest of the campers and had an epic view. We only purchased wood from the camp store, but it looked like they had everything you need. Our kids played with the goats, who were all friendly and visited our campsite one afternoon. The bathrooms were clean and appeared to be regularly managed. All in all, I don’t really have anything negative to say… We will certainly return to this campsite when we’re looking for something easy with friends.

Amazing views, comfortable stay, romantic and private. Had everything we needed to cook & be comfortable - I'm buying that 3n1 coffee - yum! Loved the en-suite composting toilet and full shower - very convenient. Ken was communicative and accommodating. We would definitely stay again!

Horizons is about as private as a campsite gets. Provides amazing views with lots of space to hike and explore. It’s not very far from the restrooms and is a good distance away from the goats if you like your space. Only complaint is that the restrooms and showers were a little janky, but they’re kept pretty clean and they work (with warm water) so 9/10 overall!👍👍

Wonderful property with amazing views of rainbow valley and beyond. Easy to access and use all the amenities like showers, bathrooms, and running water at each camp site. Friendly staff and all other campers were lovely people.
Walking the property was a delight, we got to see wildlife, some of the goats on the property came up to say hi while we were on the trail, as did one of the dogs who was very friendly.
The Granite Tabernacle campsite was very spacious and accomdating, plenty of designated parking, two fire pits (one with plenty of space for 9-10 people and one inside the tabernacle itself with room for 6-7 people) were both very nice.
Four wheel drive vehicles possibly recommended for navigating vehicles to campsites, but not required. Just bring a car with somewhat higher clearance underneath.

Staying at Ellen’s was magical! Her land was so beautiful, she showed us around herself. There were multiple hikes to go on and areas to explore. Stargazing was amazing at night! The mini horses and her friendly dogs were adorable! Overall wonderful experience! Stay at Ellen’s!

We had the best time at Splitrock! Huge campsite, bathrooms, fire pit etc- everything we needed. The baby goats were the highlight for sure. Woke up to the goats roaming through our site. Would definitely stay here again, especially if we were looking for a place to camp with a large group.

This was an amazing place to camp! We had a short visit for a retreat with around 100 people, and Benjamin and his team were extremely attentive and helpful. It was a beautiful place, the bathrooms were clean and nice! We were visited by the goats and dogs, they were so awesome! Absolutely loved this campsite, would highly recommend!

Granite Mountain was an incredible escape! The views, sunrise, and sunset were breathtaking. So much so I proposed here. The cabin is easy to access from where you park and has everything you need. Ken was an excellent host, he was very responsive and made sure everything was taken care of. I would highly recommend!

My family of 4 had a great time enjoying Ellen's property. She told us all about the land and how she's cultivated it. She showed us around including the boundary and introduced us to her horses. We hiked/scrambled up the mountain and we're accompanied by one of her sweet dogs who impressed us the whole way up and down and hung around us most of the day. The freeway noise others have commented on was really minimal white noise occasionally, but we heard a pack of coyotes and a mountain lion/bobcat in the evening. The stargazing was great, and we couldn't get enough of the rock scrambling there was to do. There's a marked trail up the mountain that helped us find our way down. We would love to come back and visit again.
