Super clean and comfortable set up. Location was great- located next to some nice eateries and breweries/ cafe. Not far from the sequoia national park which is just incredible! Wonderful shower and bathroom facility with clean towels. Sonja was a super nice and friendly host- she went out of her way to make us feel comfortable. She makes pickled veggies and jams that you can buy. We had a great time!!

Great place to stay along the Kern River. Clean bathrooms and very comfortable beds. I especially appreciated the heavy duty wagons to cart gear to the tent from the parking area. Loved not having cars in the campsites since we were camping with our kids. There is also a well maintained path to access the river side.

We had a very enjoyable stay at Sonja’s tent on her land. She was very friendly and provided cookware including coffee and snacks. The bathroom was lovely and the shower was great after a day of hiking. There were restaurants and coffee shops a short drive away; plus it was very close to the sequoia entrance. Would highly recommend!

The tent accommodations provided by Sonja were wonderful. I felt so welcome and at home right away. This is a more rural area, so expect to hear the neighbors animals (dogs and rooster) during your stay. I woke up to a flock of wild turkeys surveying the land, as well as a deer! If you're new into camping or even an expert this place is your place, the amenities are perfect, we slept so good in the tent and Sonja is very kind and helpful with everything, she truly thinks about every detail, the views are beautiful and they also have a trampoline (my favorite part, super fun for lay down at night and watch the starts) PLUS, just 5 min away you can find a coffee shop and they have 2 cats and sometimes one of them come to say hi, so if you love animals this is your place

We enjoyed camping on Sonja’s land. She was very welcoming as soon as we pulled in. We expected nothing but grass to set our tent on but Sonja already had a tent, sleeping bags and pads set up. We still set our own tent up, which she was very okay with. We had access to a grill, plus a box of goodies. The bathroom was very clean. There were a couple of sweet ducks on the property and some friendly cats. There was a dog in the neighboring backyard that would bark occasionally through the night, so if you’re a light sleeper, make sure to bring earplugs. Although we only slept there for a night, we enjoyed our stay overall!

I'll admit I was a bit skeptical initially about staying at a brand-new host's property, but those concerns vanished the moment Chris greeted me. His warm, friendly demeanor and genuine enthusiasm immediately put me at ease. The location was ideal, easy to find and perfectly situated right across from the stunning Isabella Lake. I was looking for a peaceful place to recharge and take advantage of proper amenities, and this spot delivered exactly what I needed. Chris went above and beyond by giving me a thorough tour of everything and sharing thoughtful recommendations for local attractions. Even after I left, he continued to provide helpful suggestions for the area. Don't miss out on Chris's homemade honey, it's absolutely incredible and a perfect local treat to take home. We were pleasantly surprised by the space, location, and comfort of our stay! Plenty of space for four people to stay comfortably! We love the communal vibe with our two other tents and because we were there on a light weekend we had the five tent section all to ourselves! The host were great and easy to talk to and allow us our privacy! We are right above the stairs down to the river, which made it really nice for everyone in the group. Bathrooms are very clean and spacious and the showers were always hot! All of my guests couldn’t stop raving about how nice they were! Everything was stocked with quality supplies and there was easy access to water and dish, sinks and hot coffee and tea all day long! It’s nice to be right outside the city and perfect for stargazing! We can’t wait to go back!

Underworld Farms is a small goat ranch in the Kern River Valley. Surrounded by forestry land, on the Kern River, and on top of what used to be the old town of Whiskey Flat (Later re-named Kernville). There is no end to the beauty, history and adventure all around the property. Life took us to the Kern River Valley after moving out of Los Angeles. We enjoy living in the Southern Sierras immersed in all its natural beauty. The small but magnificent town of Kernville is approximately two and a half miles north of us. Our livestock includes horses, dairy goats, sheep, and rabbits: Most of which are raised and bred as our son's 4H or FFA projects. You may be wondering why our farm is called "Underworld Farms". In a nutshell, since our ranch is on the footprint of the historic town of Whiskey Flat, we just happen to be south of the old Whiskey Flat "Boot Hill" Cemetery. Our "driveway" is the road that led from the old town of Kernville to the cemetery. We hope that you consider parking your RV, van conversion, or trailer on one of our customized spots on the property. Or drive your vehicle and pitch a tent on one of our tent friendly sports. Or enjoy a stay in one of our small cabins. Regardless of what you stay in, you will definitely have a memorable time. The campground is VERY barebones and rural. Critters, bugs, and sometimes fellow Hipcampers can be sparce or prevalent pretty randomly. Because Underworld Farms is a working ranch, you will probably hear livestock noises like horses neighing, sheep and goats calling, and our protector dogs barking from time to time. We encourage you to walk over to the horses and goats and meet them. They especially like when you bring them carrots or apple pieces. The ranch has a double outhouse with a hand washing station sandwiched in between, it is rustic and bare bones. We check it to see if it has paper products, soap, water, and plenty of room in the trash bins. During the hotter months, the "daddy longleg" spiders enjoy infiltrating the outhouses and seem to spin new webs overnight. But they and their webs are harmless and easy to brush off. We ask for your assistance if there is something missing, or the trash needs taking out, or if the spiders have taken over again by getting ahold of us through the Hipcamp App and letting us know. With all that being said, there is an ambient beauty here that is unbelievable and memorable. This beauty and draw is so powerful that it causes the many people who come visit to make arrangements to live in our little valley. There is much to do in and around our valley that you couldn't do it all in a lifetime. We hope that you come and stay at the ranch while enjoying our valley. On site there is hiking, places to practice yoga or meditate, kayaking, paddle boarding. We also have a hammock veranda that is fully shaded and a great place to relax along the river. Miles of biking paths run on the road right by where we are situated and there is a nearby river rafting company if you want the white water experience. Most of our campers are road tripping, getting away from LA, or are looking for a stopover on their way to/from Yosemite, Sequoia, Joshua Tree, etc. We are in a desert climate – cold in the winter and hot in the summer. Portable heaters or fans with misting options are available for rent.

This is a essentially a private campsite with a million dollar view during the day, and wonderful stargazing at night! We welcome dogs and don't charge additional fees for you to bring your dog(s) to camp. The park allows dogs into the park BUT NOT ON ANY TRAILS! Unfortunately, we can NOT dog sit your dog(s) while you are in the park having 2 large male dogs in our house. Also you can not leave the dog alone in the campsite. We are in Three Rivers - the southern Ash Mountain gateway to the Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks. Our town has some wonderfully unique restaurants, creative shops and even a delicious brewery with seating next to the River! Our hillside property has great Mountain View’s and the driveway turns directly off of Sierra drive, four miles past the town center (3R post office) and just 2 miles from the Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks entrance. There’s even a convenience store a quarter mile away! It's conveniently located and easy to find! You can (seasonally) hear the tranqual sounds, or all out roar of the flowing Kaweah river from across the street. Sorry, there is NO river access from this campsite. You can go to Slick Rock Recreation area, Lake Kaweah or into the parks to swim, boat, fish and more. Lake Kaweah is about 8 miles away. You drive around it after you top the hill entering Three Rivers. My wife Elizabeth and I bought our log home in 2015 and we have been dreaming and adding here ever since! Our dog Chance chases all the fun wildlife off of our property. In addition to deer, we have seen fox, bob cats, an Ocelot, too many coyotes, wild turkeys and bear crossing an animal highway along our upper hillside property line. Hawks, hummingbirds, quail, blue birds, woodpeckers and yellow bellied finches are regularly seen here as well. We have had turkey families coming through frequently recently! Owls have been heard; but not seen. We love our country home and mountain views, and look forward to sharing them with you!

This camping spot is on a private property in a beautiful little mountain town. Surrounded by nature but also within walking distance to a store and near the Sequoia National Forest for hiking activities. Please enter to the left side of the poles, left side of the oak tree on the right hand side of the road. Enjoy the uniqeness amd beauty of the area.
