4 MINUTE DRIVE TO DOWNTOWN PLACERVILLE! And a 5 min walk to the bike path that leads to downtown. The French Pasture is a beautiful campsite surrounded by an oak, plum and apricot tree. There is a small 1 minute hike through the land from the parking spot to the campsite. The camp has a wooden picnic table with a canopy. The photo shows a two person tent but the site can fit a 10x10 foot tent. A few things to consider: 1. We do have a fire pit, but the area for the fire is not leveled yet (as the camp and table section is). Coming soon! 2. There is a portable shower and portable toilet option. Hot water is not available. (See photos). 3. The freeway can be heard from the campsite. The positives: 1. Downtown Placerville is only a 3 -5 minute drive. There is also a bike trail walking distance from the campsite to downtown that is an approximate 15 minute walk. 3. Morning coffee will be provided by hosts. I’ve lived here for over a decade, mostly off-grid, and the land is still unfolding. There are a couple of donkeys, some goats, a small flock of chickens and quail, two super-chill dogs (Stax and Summer Grass), and a cat named Mike. All friendly, all part of the rhythm. If you’re cool with animals, you’ll love it. If you’re not, this probably isn’t the spot for you. You can park your trailer, post up in your rig, or camp under the trees. Weekend Trip to Peace in the Pines
Renee's place was so peaceful and beautiful. The morning sun rising thru the trees created a wonderful place to sit and relax. Her trailer was cozy and well equipped. She generously provided so many things that made being there and cooking easy. Lots of spices, butter, oil, fresh fruit and treats. She really went above and beyond. The bed was very comfortable also. Renee was very friendly and let us know of local events going on. We would absolutely stay here again. Thank you Renee.

Very private and peaceful. Renee is a fabulous host she even provided my dog with baked treat and made us feel very welcomed. There's a nice ladybug trail just out back that is worth exploring! It was unfortunate that rain hit during our time here so outdoor activities were limited, but we hope to come back again soon!

Everything they say about this spot is true. My dog and I enjoyed our time at Renee’s. The trailer was as comfortable as a trailer can be. Everything was clean and well stocked. The property is very well kept, beautiful, and conveniently located to the where I keep my heart. Renee is a kind and thoughtful host. I would LOVE to stay there again.

We absolutely loved camping on Renée’s land, in her beautifully appointed trailer. The nearby town of Nevada City is walkable or a 5 minute drive. We spent most of our time relaxing by the trailer and enjoying the beauty and quiet. Renée had left a basket of fresh vegetables which we so appreciated. You won’t miss not being able to have a campfire; the night sky is brilliant with stars. We wanted for nothing, the nice hot outdoor shower was lovely as well. We plan to definitely return

We just wanted to disconnect from the world, so we weren't expecting to do much this trip. Renee was amazing. We had some fun adventures thanks to her recommendations. Panned some gold from the river as a nifty souvenir. And it was great to come back to a quiet cozy spot to wind down the day. This was also our first trip with our anxious pittie and Renee was super understanding. She gave us a lot of privacy, but she was attentive and surprisingly quick to respond when needed. She had an awesome garden basket to welcome us and literally anything we could have needed in the kitchen. Bring CDs to play music in the RV and highly recommend the Nisenan Tribute Bridge for beautiful forest views.

nice host, he developed a nice campground , the creek was a fun place to relax , overall I think it was good. also there is a water spigot at the campground which makes it easy to wash dishes, and also a bathroom, so easy to go when you need to. I heard peacocks and roosters and saw some owls at night , so there are a few wild animal noises, if you enjoy that sort of thing. Currently it is wildfire season in September, so no open fires , but we did cook with a propane grill , so we were happy and got to eat our smores , if you are looking for a quick getaway , this could be it.

We had the most incredible time at Jerry’s property, Sunset Villa! From the moment we arrived, we felt like we had discovered a hidden gem. The setting is absolutely magical – wild peacocks and roosters roam freely, adding so much charm and character to the experience. The highlight for us was definitely the mountain-fed creek, which was refreshing, peaceful, and the perfect spot to relax and reconnect with nature. Jerry is a wonderful host who clearly puts a lot of care into maintaining the property, and it shows in every detail. If you’re looking for a camping spot that feels both adventurous and serene, this is it. One tip: bring water shoes! The creek is amazing to explore, but you’ll definitely enjoy it more with the right footwear. We can’t recommend Sunset Villa enough – it’s an unforgettable escape, and we’re already looking forward to our next visit!

Amazing and memorable, we loved our stay at Peace In The Pines. Renee is a great host, super kind, and even supplied us some fruits and veggies from the garden, which we made a wonderful dinner with. I did morning yoga and meditation among the pines, and to open your eyes while looking above is truly magical. Our little dog-daughter enjoyed her stay as well! The site has everything you need, from a fully equipped kitchen, a comfortable bed with linens, and outdoor seating. The outdoor shower is a highlight! We saw a landscape of stars framed with the tall pines for two nights, couldn't ask for more.

I LOVED this spot. It was private and somewhat quiet. There are roosters and peacocks on the land and in the area, but their noise was very relaxing all day long. I brought my furry boys with me, although my big boy was very vocal about me being too far from him at times, there were other dogs in the area being vocal themselves, so it felt like home in a way. Jerry was very nice. He dropped by to make sure everything was alright and pointed out all the accommodations and understood the anxiety my dog projected when he was there. I felt embarrassed, but Jerry assured my it was A OK If there is a time I need to get away and be alone with my boys, I really hope to come back.

The name piece in the Pines is definitely fitting! Was able to find stillness and peace . So many great things to say about Renee and her camper! I booked this last-minute trip with my daughter. She’s always wanted to stay in a trailer and so we brought a dog and it was everything that we could’ve asked for Ann more. Renee was a super kind host and give us some recommendations on where to visit in terms of family friendly river spots. She also let us know that the fair was in town. those were great recommendations! The camper itself was clean nicely set with amenities for shower, sleeping comfortably and cooking. Being amongst nature was beautiful we saw a deer. Our dog loved it there too. My favorite thing about this place with that was the outdoor shower! I love me a good outdoor shower and it was just the icing on the cake. Highly recommend this spot! I look forward to coming back. .

This was our first Hipcamp experience and it was fantastic! Peace in the Pines is an understatement. Renee the hostess was kind and generous. She shared some absolutely beautiful fruit, veggies and herbs from her garden and she had a special gift of champagne and truffles for our anniversary. The trailer was extremely clean and well cared for. The grass yard was refreshing and clean. The out door shower was a great experience of life. The property expresses PEACE at every turn. Short drives to Nevada City, Grass Valley and the beautiful and refreshing Yuba River and beautiful hikes. We will definitely be back! Thank you Renee for the anniversary weekend we needed!

Welcome to Finnon Lake Recreation Area! Our lovely lake to discover. The night skies above Finnon Lake will reveal stars unseen in California. Enjoy searching for bullfrogs, and watch the flock of Canadian Geese fly in right at sunset as the horizon blends into the watercolor sky. This private lake supports the fire protection efforts of the Mosquito Fire Protection District and the firefighters of this community. Community volunteers manage the lake for the residents and the Fire Station. The primary funding source for the Finnon Lake Restoration is the Sierra Nevada Conservancy, which was signed into law in 2004 with a mission to support “efforts that improve the environmental, economic and social well-being of the Sierra Nevada Region, its communities and the residents of California,” according to its Website. Our property is lakeside at Rollins Lake In Colfax. We live on over 30 private, beautiful acres with footpath access to Rollins Lake. (3 minute walk from the dome or house, and 10-15 minutes from the cabin) where most summer days here are spent swimming, paddle boarding, kayaking, fishing ect., down at the water. In summer there is a 3-night minimum for the cabin and dome. Occasionally a two day midweek will pop up on the schedule last minute. To see correct pricing, enter your dates as they can fluctuate with holidays, weekends. Prices are decreased midweek. Love creek sanctuary was founded in 2016. It all started with Stu the steer and his best friend Petey the goat, from there we have rescued over 90 animals, 45 make their home here at the sanctuary. Our camping areas are fenced from the animals but you are free to explore our 12 acres and interact with the animals during your stay here. We ask that children under 10 stay outside the animal areas and children over 10 are accompanied by a grownup. We have plenty of art and child friendly activities, just ask and we can set you up. We have a no dog policy because the chickens and birds are free ranging, unfortunately we have had several bad experiences with dogs attacking the birds and other animals. If you have a dog that has been around farm animals and is well behaved, let's talk about it. We have 5 dogs so the birds have NO FEAR of them. ---- We are a working farm - PLEASE READ----- There are donkeys, roosters, dogs and peacocks that make noise, sometimes at night and always early in the morning. Please be aware that you may hear the donkeys bray (usually lasts about 30 seconds), roosters crow, guinea fowl chirp. It is startling and will wake you up. We do our best to keep the dogs hushed but we cannot stop the donkeys, roosters and peacocks from doing their thing. If you are a light sleeper, please bring earplugs or select another wonderful Hipcamp in our area, thank you! In addition to the interesting sounds you will hear, you will encounter dirt, poop and spiders. Since we are a working farm, things get dirty. We spray all high traffic surfaces twice a day but things get dirty and when it rains it is muddy. Please plan accordingly. We are centrally located between Grass Valley and Auburn, giving you access to endless recreational activities, wineries, breweries and restaurants. We have 50 or so rescued farm animals, you can interact with our pig Hank, Mojo the goat or Teddy the alpaca. NOTE: Starting Memorial Day each year, we have replaced all of our wood fire pits with gas fire pits. We have increased our prices to help cover the costs of propane. Thank you for choosing us!

There is NOTHING like being in the wilderness of this area for a good re-centering of the soul! We have found it to be a true blessing for our family, and we hope you can experience this blessing as we share this space with you. We feel certain you will not be disappointed with our beautiful river canyon. Our property is situated right on the middle fork Cosumnes river. The swimming is awesome and the stars at night will put you into a state of awe! In the area there are many family owned wineries in the area, most of them offering free tasting! It’s a short drive to Tahoe and the Marshall gold discovery site as well as the historic hangtown Placerville. We are happy to make suggestions for local hiking areas, like the Devil's Slide "Gorge" only a 15 minute drive but like a trip to mini Yosemite. The Caldor Fire was VERY close to our property and a back burn was initiated nearby the our house (literally 200' away!). Our property became a pivotal point of fighting the fire in our community known as the “Ant Hill Army”.
