The Space:
A 13 ft Bell tent is setup for you with one queen bed and one single bed inside (beds are made with sheets and comforters). The tent sits approximately 75 ft above the river with breathtaking views of the river and canyon. If you are coming with a group, there is over an acre of flat land which is perfect for any type of tent setup.
At the tent site you’ll have access to a table and chairs, lounge chairs, picnic table, gas BBQ, basketball hoop and balls, rock campfire, kayaks, and a porta potty. A short 3-minute walk away from the tent you’ll find the shore of the Bear River.
Guest access:
The tent site is only accessible by 4-wheel drive vehicles. If you do not have a 4-wheel drive vehicle there is parking for up to four vehicles at the house. The tent site is less than a quarter mile walk downhill from the house.
River access:
If you’d like to visit the river to hang out, swim, or fish you can follow the dirt road next to the tent down to the river (3-minute walk). The riverfront has lounge chairs, a picnic table, and kayak's. The riverbank has small pebbles and rocks so water shoes are highly suggested for comfort when going into the water (recommended but not needed).
Come and enjoy the views of the river, forest, and wildlife!
This is a private tent site with one other listing on the property which is located at the house. You may rarely see other guests during your stay.
Check out is at 12pm. If you or anyone in your party stays past 12:30pm you will be charged for an extra night for your full party.

The Sierra Sol Camp project has been hosting community events and friend gathering for years. We take great pride in extending a warm and welcoming space for all our visitors and extending the invitation to campers was a great next step.
We have listings ranging from yurts to shipping containers, an old water tower converted to a vintage trailer and canvas tents.
We are based in between the middle fork of the Yuba river right where it meets up with Oregon Creek. If you like a long walk it is 2.5 miles down the dirt road to Oregon Creek and the middle fork of the Yuba. Driving takes 5 to 10 mins. The other direction is the largest lake in our county Bullards Bar Reservoir and Emerald Cove Marina. We are 1 mile down Marysville Rd. from a launch called dark day. There is a trailhead at the top of overflow boat parking for a public swimming hole on the lake.
On our property, we have a main house with its own private facilities such as a kitchen, shower, and bath. On the land, we have 9 total unique cabin and canvas tent structures converted into boutique-like campsites. We have an epic outdoor entertaining kitchen and patio with an outdoor pizza oven and a little dog rinse behind the outdoor shower. The bathhouse is right across the way and provides a private but shared guest shower house, tub and sink.
Like anywhere in the woods there is an hour at sunset when you may have mosquitoes down near the sites in the spring and some of the summers depending on the year. We have a natural spray for that or fans in the kitchen. Off the path, you may find poison oak in the thick of the woods. So please stay on the marked trails.

In summer there is a 3-night minimum for the cabin and dome. Occasionally a two day midweek will pop up on the schedule last minute. To see correct pricing, enter your dates and number of adventurers, as they can fluctuate with holidays, weekends. Prices are decreased midweek.

Beneath our lovely local towns of Grass Valley and Nevada City lay a nearly forgotten history and a nearly forgotten people, the Nisenan Indians. The Nisenan (pronounced nee-see-nan or nee-she-nan) are the original people of this place and their story and history is ripe for the telling. Because the gold rush seems to be the “beginning” of all current history books, we find it a perfect intersectional moment to tell the story of the people and culture who were here thousands of years before they met the gold rush head on. This is a brief introductory story of the Nisenan people.
At a time when the local landscape was rich with Nisenan place names; at a time when the Nisenan people themselves were thriving and plentiful upon the land; before the coming of the California gold rush, before California even became a state, the Nisenan people had lived lives that were full of unique, cultural richness and great wealth here in their ancient homelands. They lived in ancient towns named Ostomah’, Woloyu, Wakadok, Panpakan and hundreds more. This landscape was laden with clean water, delicious food, strong medicine, pure spirit, ancient burial grounds, numerous animal species that are now gone, and was abundant with Nisenan families. Today, these ancient Nisenan towns lay beneath our modern towns of Nevada City and Grass Valley.
It was unfortunate for the Nisenan that their territory would become ground zero for human greed and catastrophic changes that would soon befall them at the hands of the California gold rush. Tens of thousands of immigrants from every corner of the planet descended upon Nisenan lands to make their fortunes in the gold fields. Every tree was cut down to build the new towns and hundreds of miles of flumes, the large game herds were hunted to extinction, the natural food sources were destroyed by over population and later by cattle, and the salmon and the great rivers themselves were destroyed by hydraulic mining. Everything that the Nisenan relied on for survival was gone within the first two years of the gold rush.
In addition to the environmental destruction of the land, the newly formed state of California’s own governor called for the extermination of the red race. Bounties were placed on American Indian heads. Indians were violently removed from their homes and died from murder, disease and starvation. Pockets of people survived here and there, sometimes because they had found a non-native citizen to be their champion; a champion who would be their voice and help navigate the new world for them. In the case of the Nisenan who lived within the Yuba and Bear River Watersheds, Belle Douglas was one such champion.
Belle Douglas was a founding member of the Native Daughters of the Golden West (NDGW). Belle saw the abuses that were put upon the Indians and stood up to be their voice. The Nisenan could not read or write. Documents penned by Belle’s caring hand are contained within the local Nevada County Historical Society that show decades of activism on her part. It was directly because of Belle’s tenacity with the Bureau of Indian Affairs that the Nevada City Rancheria became a federally recognized reservation in 1913 via an executive order from then President Woodrow Wilson. The Nevada City Rancheria Nisenan Tribe held itself as a domestic foreign nation up until it was illegally terminated in 1964 and its reservation lands were sold at auction.
Today, the surviving Nisenan families are ghosts in their own homelands. Being landless is extremely detrimental for the Tribal membership and the continuance of their culture. The Nisenan are trying very hard to raise their visibility with the non-native local community. To tell the story of this place prior to the gold rush is to give the Nisenan a spotlight on their past and a new focus on their future. Not only do the Nisenan survive today, but through all the devastation of the past, many of their old landmarks remain intact. Many of their sacred sites were destroyed during the mining devastation of the gold rush. Most of their sacred burial grounds are held by private property owners. But, a few are accessible within the parameters of both cultural districts of Nevada City and Grass Valley.

The best vacation rental in Nevada City!
Creekfront designer cabin on 8 acres with hot tub. The creek is year-round and perfect for dipping. Seclusion in nature yet 4 minutes to downtown Nevada City, and 15 min to rivers and lakes.
There are 4 bedrooms in the main house and an optional separate studio to rent. The main house has two bedrooms with king beds, one bedroom with a twin bed and a twin air mattress (if needed), and a room with a queen murphy bed. This allows 8 people max. There are 3 bathrooms.
For 9-11 guests, or if you just want extra space for a smaller party, you can rent the separate studio for $170/night plus $125 cleaning fee, plus tax. This is discounted from our regular rates. The studio is beautifully renovated with a queen bed, full kitchen, bathroom, and living area with sofa for a child or young adult to sleep on.
You have complete reign of the 8 acre property, including the hot tub, and private creekfront park with gazebo, fire pit, and horseshoe pit. Sometimes we rent out a studio on the property (or you can rent it-- see details above), but studio guests do not have access to acres of the property that are just for you. If you want total privacy, we can block out the studio from being rented for an additional $80/night, or you can rent it for $170/night plus $125 cleaning fee plus tax (see details above).
Pack and play, twin air bed, and dining table booster seat with tray are available. Please request the air bed before you arrive, and bring your own sheet for the pack and play. Air bed is usually needed if 8 guests are staying in the main home (if studio is not rented).
It can snow occasionally in the winter-- only about 10 days per year between Dec. or Jan. through March. Sometimes we can plow the driveway for longer-term stays. If not, you will either need snow chains and/or a 4WD vehicle to access the home. But-- we are happy to offer a more flexible cancellation policy for winter guests-- please just ask at the time of booking.
No parties or events, and please ask if you want to invite anyone to the home who is not in the guest count at booking.
We love dogs! Please just confirm at time of booking that your pup will not go to the bathroom in the house or chew any items in the house.

Located in the Sierra Nevada Foothills in Gold Country~ 15 min from Grass Valley, Nevada City or Colfax. There is the 'MUST SEE' yuba river nearby neavada city and grass valley, Greenhorn creek that runs into Rollins Lake very close to the property. Also the American River is another nearby beauty worth exploring. There is so much nature and beauty around our area.
Frolic (property name) is a wild place with nature running the show. It is quiet and beautiful. Usually cooler because it is right on the water. The dock goes out to the 4 acre pond which is stocked with Bass. You will need to keep food inside of the Cabin/Sauna because we share the space with the animals that live here. The pond is shared with one other neighbor, so you may see other people playing on the pond or hear nearby activity through the trees. It's a great place to hang your hammock and bring a good book or birdwatch.
Frolic has been an adventure for me in Saying Yes to life and the rewarding challenges it brings. I fell in love with the huge grama oaks, the pristine pond and the feral overgrown everything. It has been a workin' progress and lots of time to sweat, craft, pause and listen. The property is shaped like a pint glass, running north to south, with a lovely bowl the pond sits in and an ancient meadow up behind the cabin full of apples 🍎 and pears 🍐. Up the hill, a hotter zone, more exposed with its own beauty, where we live. On the occasion, one of us may come down to the pond for a swim, especially when it's too hot up top. We will be respectful but likely just need to cool down.
Frolic has been a great teacher in reminding me to PLAY, relax and go with the flow. I hope you can find the same joy and rejuvenation here.

Sierra Sol Camp is such a special spot! A group of us rented a handful of the sleep spaces, including the main house, which was a nice home base/extension from the beautiful common area. We had everything we needed to make food together after sunny days at the river. We loved the fire pit, thoughtful touches to encourage community, while also providing privacy/space. Everyone (dogs included!) agreed that the property felt magical and we were so happy to have had the opportunity to enjoy it for a weekend. Thank you, Deja and crew!

Weekend Trip to Frolic Pond Cedar Cabin
We had such a lovely stay here and were genuinely sad to leave. The cabin felt really private and isolated in the best way, and we barely saw or heard the neighbors the entire time, even with it being a holiday weekend. The cabin itself was the perfect size for two people, especially for sleeping in and taking afternoon naps. The mattress was super comfortable, it didn’t get too cold at night, and we were pleasantly surprised that we didn’t have any issues with bugs inside despite being surrounded by nature.
The pond was probably our favorite part of the stay. It was so quiet and peaceful, really fun to take the boat out on, and the dock was the perfect place to sit and read for a while. We saw lots of cute frogs and birds around the property and even picked some fruit from the surrounding bushes and trees. We also drove about 20 minutes to the Yuba for some river swimming, which made for such a nice day trip. Overall it was exactly the kind of quiet, cozy getaway we were hoping for. We would absolutely come back x

Absolutely lovely people, lovely land, really nice experience. You might want to bring an flair mattress to enhance the existing setup. The toilet is very "rustic" so if you are somewhat squeemish (like my kids), might be something to consider, but for most hipcampers its very normal. Overall awesome vibes and setting. Close to great fishing spots.

I only have good things to say about Radiance Cabin and the land! The cabin is spacious, lots of light and beautifully built. Nice bedrooms, outdoor shower, large kitchen. We sat around the fire every night and watched stars on the deck. Hiked around the property multiple times and especially loved the lookout at Dragon's Nest. Adam was so kind to give us tips of where to hike and swim close by that were fantastic. We're already talking about staying here again. Highly recommend staying here. Thanks Adam!

What a special and amazing find nestled in the Sierra Foothills, just north of the Yuba River and the wonderful Nevada City.
The cabins are (enchantingly, rustically) fabulous... Adam (and company) are an utter delight... the trails are beautiful (and plentiful)... the views are majestic... and the peace, privacy, and serenity uplift the body, mind, soul, and spirit.

Back for the second time this Summer (& I think 6th time overall over the last years?), can't stay away!
It was just the best getting to spend some good quality time with my family and another family. We got lucky with perfect weather for a day on the river and also hiked down to the creek. The garden was a perfect shady oasis, it was fun trying to balance on the hammock with my twins while our friend's 3 year old wanted to rock us all. Some kind of new sport I didn't realize existed. The kids enjoyed finding figs to eat right off the tree which was pretty cute.
The adults didn't quite get time to bike the trails this time, but we will look forward to when everyone is big enough to go together.

Weekend Trip to Sunrise Farm
Staying at Sunrise Farm was absolute magic! From sunrises over the garden with the sunflowers towering high above the fruits and veggies, to the sun setting through the oak trees and stars appearing in the clear night sky, we had the most peaceful, lovely weekend. Upon arrival, Marcia and her girls were there to welcome us with warm smiles, and soon got to work cooking and delivering a scrumptious vegan dinner for my family. In the morning smoothies were delivered, all ingredients from her garden. Marcia is incredibly knowledgeable about the best swim spots on the river, and our days were spent swimming in emerald waters and lounging around on the warm smooth rocks. If this sounds too good to be true, it really was! We are still in an afterglow from the love and warmth provided to us at Marcia’s farm. I am sure you will enjoy it like we did!

Marcia kept me well informed before I arrived. Once we arrived we were warmly welcomed and shown around by a colleague of hers. My kids were instantly engaged with the pets and the farm. Later they would get to know her kids and experience the farm and the swimming hole nearby with them. Marcia is a great host who is friendly and will check in with you about your needs. We rented Adam’s cabins for our Ultimate Frisbee teams retreat! It exceeded our expectations.
Adam’s campground is a whimsical escape tucked into the hills near the Yuba river. During our stay, Adam was easily accessible for any questions we had. He was eager for us to enjoy our stay and made an effort to help us feel at home.
The lower cabins were shaded and stayed cool during the summer heat. All cabins were comfortable and cozy. Our 25 person group fit comfortably among the cabins. We would love to come back!

Shamballa cabin is a gorgeous cabin palace amongst a peaceful land. Kitchen, full big beds w luxurious couches tucked into 200 acres of hiking water and woods.
