Weekend Trip to Maple Creek Ranch

This is a great spot with great hosts. Our spot was tucked into the woods with no one nearby, with a fire ring, a heavy duty picnic table, and a nice tent pad. Ron, the host, brought a 10 gal water container to help us get set up and gave us the lay of the land. Nearby was a very nice port-a-potty, a temporary solution while they work on their septic system for campers. The weather was cold, so when we were down by the charming pond, Ron had a fire going for us. At the pond, the grill setup is really nice. Due to weather changes, we didn't get to explore all the property and trails, but we are really looking forward to returning.

Very private and quiet. We were the only ones there at that time (April) besides the camp director. There is 1 outdoor shower with hot water and 1 spout to haul water from. We had a nice time there.

3 nights at Maple Creek Ranch

Great private camp spot! Even after having the Park fire, the camp area is still beautiful. The pond was awsome for my daughter to catch and release. It's a short walk down there. There's a general store close for extra ice and the hosts were very nice! BRING MOSQUITO REPELLENT! After getting the fire going and the citronella coils burning they stay away.

My boyfriend and I loved our stay here. Kristin was so nice. She waited until late night for us to arrive so she can personally show us our campsite. She even let us borrow her pot and brought it to us because we forgot to bring our rice cooker. So nice! The campground was very large but it was quiet and private which we liked, it felt so intimate. We explored the campground by walking the trail that Kristin told us about. There was actually no view around it aside from burnt woods and trees due to the fire that happened before. There was also a small pond with lots of fishes and turtles. Nevertheless , overall stay was pretty nice and memorable.

My family, friends, and I spent a great weekend away here. There are 2 sites and I could barely see the other campers from site 1. Lots of room to hang out and relax. It’s fairly secluded too, and perfect if you want to have privacy. Our hosts were great. They provided us some water and resolved an issue with the toilet as well. 5 stars we would recommend staying here.

What a gem right outside of Chico. It was a lovely stay on lovely people’s land. It was quiet, we had plenty of space, and there are opportunities to walk from the campground.

Kristin was warm and inviting. She left me with extra water and garbage bags. She was also very kind to my dog and let him play around the forest. Site 2 was quiet with plenty of privacy. The property is large enough to go on a couple hikes. Overall, a great experience.

The cabin was cozy and warm and made for a comfortable stay on a cold spring night. Our hosts were friendly and accommodating and I bet this place would be loads of fun with a big group in the summertime. Beware that Google Maps sent us to the next road down, but if you follow the signs the campground is easy to find.

I love the area and camp site 3 by the creek. It was very private and the camp host was friendly and great to talk too. Great base camp to go explore the surrounding areas. We will definitely be back.

This was so much fun, we can wait to come back in the summer to go swimming. Site 1 was secluded and spacious, the property was beautiful, and Kristin and Ron were very kind. They even lent us a knife since we forgot one, and provide extra firewood. Would definitely recommend!

No complains at all, everything was great! Ron greeted us at check-in and showed us to our campsite. He made sure we had plenty of wood for our 3 day stay and left us plenty of water as well. My husband and I had our young pup and she loved being off leash the whole time. We did get approached by 2 black dogs and a black pup on our hike to toward Mud Creek but they were super friendly! The flush toilet was such an added plus and was the cleanest I’ve seen at a campsite! We took use of the pond and did some fishing! We plan on staying again in the summer!

4 nights at Camp Shady Meadow

Easy to access right off the highway, yet quiet and peaceful. A friend of mine and I came up in our two vehicles for three days of fishing the Feather River, and really enjoyed our quiet spot along the creek (#3). There are lots of camp spots and most are tucked away in the trees. We got lucky in that all three creekside camp spots were empty, so we had that "leg" all to ourselves - if other campers had been there we'd have needed to drive through/past their sites to get to ours. The camp hosts were very friendly and helpful prior to our arrival with answering questions and accommodating our need for a spot for two vehicles (mine with a small trailer). We never used the shower (daytime temps were in the low 40's) but it looked like a good setup with a privacy wall built around each shower and concrete flooring (no roof). The porta-pottie was well maintained and in fact got emptied while we were there). The property is on a slight grade but the camp sites have been scraped so that they have a level area - some sites just enough for a large tent; our site accommodated a Jeep, a Sprinter van, and a trailer with a roof top tent. The little creek was flowing enough in late October to give us a pleasant background sound (when it wasn't raining!). Overall this was a perfect spot for us to stay while fishing the Feather River and very convenient to access. Just note that Apple Maps has the location wrong - make sure yo use Google Maps or Waze to find it.

Visit, fish, or camp in a rare jewel forest, hidden in the Sierra/Cascade foothills, less than an hour's drive to Chico, Oroville, or Paradise. Surviving forests of mature cedars, pines, oaks, and madrones provide shady camping, fishing along the lake shore, or picnicing along the banks of the creek that runs through a recovering creekside area. Stargaze or fly kites in our Great Meadow or admire copious wildflowers and other native plants on over 80 acres of wilderness. We provide a variety of recovering wilderness areas near water faucets, pit toilets and an RV dump station. Our site features mature forests, grassy meadows, a year-round creek in a fire recovery zone. The site also features lakefront shoreline access for bank fishing, a central fire pit and lots of space for group camping. Fires are permitted in the central pit when weather allows. The Lake Concow/Konkow Campground is a wilderness sanctuary and houses many variety of rare and endangered plants, animals, and insects. Please be aware of and give respectful space to all of the residents of the park. The list of year round residents may include poison oak, thorny berry vines, mosquitoes, ticks, spiders, deer, eagles, osprey, owls, squirrels, skunks, foxes, bears, mountain lions, snakes, bats, and more. Please be responsible for personal camp supplies and trash. The Campground is a Pack In/Pack Out location and garbage cans are supplied near the office house near the entrance. Good hiking shoes, protective clothing, and hats are recommended. All Campground faucets supply delicious, potable water tested regularly. The modern listings spell the name Concow, Ancestors spelled it Konkow. Both are correct, though may give different search results. There is plenty of room for parking large vehicles and for turning around. TOW VEHICLES MUST STAY THE DURATION OF THE CAMPING VISIT. The patriarch of the family, whose family had moved here from Sweden, had a great love of the forest and trains. The property was one of the first certified tree farms in California with the goal of nurturing a healthy forest. In the 1960’s, a mile of railroad tracks was laid and the whistle of a small, steam engine train could be heard throughout the community. Local residents and kids were treated to free train rides and special events for many years. There is a natural spring with a small creek that supplies the ponds with fresh water year around. There is also a small canyon on the property with a larger stream called Mud Creek. The land is rich in Indian history and there a artifacts and other signs on the Indians presence. The Cohasset area is relatively unknown. 15 miles from our property is Deer Creek and the Lasson National Forest is about a 2 hour drive north. While staying with us you can pitch your tent on our private 500 acres. We have 2 primitive camping spots on our property. Each spot has a picnic table and fire pit. There is a flush toilet shared for both camp sites. * During freezing weather the toilets may be closed so they don’t freeze! Please check before booking *The spots are spread out to ensure privacy. Our property is surrounded by the forest and is loaded with deer, squirrels, turkeys and other forest animals. We have numerous walking trails, a fresh water pond for fishing and swimming. Please notify us if you have an RV. Site 1 is best for RV's. Site 2 can accommodate smaller RV's.
