There’s 5 acres, partly shaded by old mesquite trees and native Washingtonia palms that tower over rock lined paths. I recently fixed up our old 1949 tear drop camper for staying in after it had been abandoned for 30 years. It’s equipped with solar power, a gas burner, a pump sink, and a cooler.

Here you will find a beautifully restored original homestead cabin, with all of the comforts of home. The cabin will sleep 4 comfortably, or 6-7 if you move some stuff around. There's a mini split with heat and AC, an electric fireplace, a fully stocked kitchen and bath, a mini bunk room, a double size bed, and stackable twins.
The cabin opens up to a fully fenced compound with fun around every corner! Bounce on the vintage playground bouncers, swing on the swingset, rope a wooden steer, play horseshoes, or make a campfire. We also have a tiny playhouse, croquet, and bocce.
The large back patio features an outdoor kitchenette and bathroom complete with an outdoor shower and cowboy tub!
To the left you'll find the boxcar, a yellow dream. She's purdy on the inside with a loft bed and two twins, and dining table with chandelier.
To the right is Avion, the majestic silver bird. She is every bit original 1983 oak veneer nostalgia. Don't eat the glass grapes! Avion features a full kitchen and bath and sleeps 5.
Further over is Dolly the vintage Dalton tin can style trailer. She has no hook ups but there are battery lights and a clean double bed. Set a while on the dirt porch in the shell back chairs and reflect on life.
Shangri-La is family, pet, UFO, and kid friendly. Bring 'em all!
You will need to self clean this little slice of heaven. There are supplies in the closet and the outbuildings. You'll BYO sheets and towels to make up the beds and bathe, remember to take everything you brought with you, put back the key, and haul out your own trash.
The property is well outfitted with cooking supplies and a charcoal barbecue.

My friend and I wanted to sleep somewhere in nature while, not too far away, when I was in town and this spot was the best!
It was super helpful for us to already have the beds set up instead of bringing sleeping stuff since I was only in town for a little while—cut down on time and packing :)
When we arrived, Ron met us and shared info about the common areas and told us how to get to go to our site. We saw a couple other sites and all were comfortably spaced out. Once we were ready, we called him and he let us know how to fill the tub (super simple).
The site itself was great—plenty of shade, a table, and a campfire pit. I had a question about the common area pool and Ron was super quick to message back.
It was a full(ish?) moon and the sky was super pretty. When we walked to the bathroom at night, you could see mountains in the distance and I really loved the view.
When we walked back from the bathroom, we walked near the front gate and I got a little nervous thinking we were locked in (just a silly moment of being scared in a new place). Ron must have seen me on the ring cam and texted me right away saying it’s unlocked and we can leave any time. I felt a little embarrassed but grateful he was so nice and also good to know he’s got an eye on what’s going on.
My little pup and I would love to come back someday!

My 5 year old and I had a great time! The airstream was super nice and clean and had everything we wanted. We cooked over the fire and enjoyed watching the sunrises and sunsets. We even saw a coyote and a road runner with a snake in its beak! We will be back and definitely recommend for a long weekend exploring Joshua Tree.

Group trip
Amy’s land provides an increíble amount of value for the price, and is the perfect spot for anyone wanting to provide some creature comforts while experiencing the raw beauty of the desert life.
It was the basecamp for an important sacred journey for me and some friends and gave us the grounding we needed on the front and back end of a deep desert exploration.
So grateful and will definitely be back with future groups!

4 nights at JT High desert Hideout
Janna was a great host. 5 stars accommodating and welcoming. We had arrived later into the night and she still showed us around the site where everything was so we were most comfortable with the new surroundings. Was a great atmosphere with everything you need for a home away from home. Electricity and wifi included. Heated shower. Also she was great at recommending places close by to check out. Future travellers make sure to check out the "Transmissions" statue and Joshua Tree National Park and the Cactus Mart. On the premises there are 4 options of "glamping" spots. We stayed in the stargazing tent which was perfect for our girls trip.

Weekend Trip to Shangri-la Stargazer Labyrinth
Mikael was an amazing host. He even brought us over extra sleeping bags and a huge fire pit for our stay. I would definitely recommend staying in the RV. It was a cute quiet relaxing girls weekend for us. We did fine without the electricity and brought extra portable charges just in case we needed them. We are already talking about coming back.

Went in February and it was 59 degrees which is perfect when you’re from Ohio and use to 20 degrees in the winter!

We have camped in Joshua Tree more times than I can count and every single time it does not disappoint! We’ve celebrate Thanksgiving in the park and camped all the into April right before it gets too hot.

Have been coming here since 80’s and still a favorite though it has changed since it became a National Park. Scrambling around the boulders can be both challenging and rewarding when the heat isn’t interfering. When it is, the nights are well worth a moonlit hike.
