About the property Our property is in the high desert above Borrego Springs at 4,300'. We border Anza Borrego State property which means you’ll be adjacent to plenty of beautiful open spaces. There are many trails in the park which lead to the desert floor from our fence line. On a clear day you can see the Salton Sea from the bottom of the property. We have great access to nearby points of interest including Borrego Springs which is 20 miles away, Anza Borrego State Park which is adjacent to Julian at 40 miles away, Palomar observatory which is 40 miles away and Cuyamaca Lake which is fantastic for fishing only 45 miles away. If you need to pop into town for any supplies or services you can access Borrego Springs (20 miles away), Julian (40 miles away), Ramona (45 miles away), and Temecula (50 miles away). We have 3 horseshoe pits and 9 frisbee golf baskets for recreation onsite and we have incredible dark skies for excellent stargazing. You may see many different forms of wildlife including mountain lions, coyotes, foxes, bob cats, racoons, badgers, and rattle snakes. You will see many rabbits, squirrels and tons of birds of all kinds! We are really the perfect location for those who love the outdoors! Owners live on site but we like to greet, meet, and then leave you to your stay! Please reach out if you have questions or concerns though. About the listing Our listing is for tents, vans and truck campers, trailers, or RV’s and we can accommodate rigs up to 25ft in length. A few of our 5 sites are pull through sites on dirt and may require some leveling. All sites are dry camping only as we do not have any hookups, though there are two bathrooms and water available in a centralized area on the property. You can expect High desert and scrub brush environments. Any vehicle should be able to access our property but 4-wheel drive vehicle might make it a little easier to access areas on the outside perimeter of the property. While staying with us you can expect some noise from coyotes, raven….wind and a little highway traffic on s22. Each site will accommodate up to 6 people. Stayed here for a 5 day solo retreat. Beautiful location, the cabin is private and set away from the main complex, and is very well insulated, warm at night and cool during the day. Caitriona, Michele, and Tom are all very friendly, welcoming, and respectful. Highly recommend.

I’m almost too zen-ed out to write a review! This was such a tranquil getaway & Caitriona & Michele were very kind hosts. Thank you! The “hermitage” was very private & stayed magically cool through the afternoon sun while still getting warm enough to keep the window open at night! I’d describe it as 50% camping (sleeping on cots & peeing outside if you don’t want to do the walk to the common area) & 50% cabin (everything is set up for you and there’s access to the super well stocked kitchen, shower etc). The kitchen & bathroom are a short (2 min?) walk down the hill. There’s a beautiful stretch of the PCT less than 10 mins away. Sunrises & sunsets & stars, oh my! I hope to be back again soon. Thanks again!

The perfect weekend with my daughter. Caitriona was incredibly welcoming, both on hand to help with any questions, but also very calm and respectful of our space. The hut was idyllic. Warm at night and cool in the day, with two comfy futons. It’s situated a little away from the main house and felt completely private and serene.

All the positive things about camping and none of the downers. Nice sites that are well dispersed and comfortable. Clean flush bathrooms and a big sink to wash dishes. Serene atmosphere with chirping birds and curious bunnies. Fun amenities like a wild very fun disc golf course and horse shoes. Amazing dark sky. Lots of great nearby hikes. Great host and communication. No bugs! We only saw 2 mosquitoes, haha. No flies or ants or wasps. No mud or loose sand. We chose a site nearer to the road, but the sounds were not intrusive and it was real quiet at night. We had a windy night, (the high desert does get windy) but there was enough rolling terrain and bushes/small trees to minimize it and our canopy was fine and not a single tent peg was lifted. Highly recommended!

This Hipcamp is done right! Grounds were well maintained and sites clearly marked. The bathrooms were clean and stocked and the outdoor dishwashing area a nice bonus. Horseshoe pits and frisbee golf added to the fun. It was a short drive the Anza Borrego State Park, I would recommend and happily stay there again.

Hosts were lovely, easy to meet, and the grounds are peaceful. This little place is so cute and stayed warm overnight, had a great view of the sunset, and felt just far enough from the rest of the grounds to feel private. My little dog and I had a nice time. We hiked to Eagle Rock the next day, just a 5 minute drive away.

Weekend Trip to Montezuma Valley Campground

I have been camping a dozen times and this one was one of my favorite! We did have the whole site to ourselves which was a major plus. The site had very very clean restrooms close to our tent, a massive sink to help wash dishes, and many many tables for us to use throughout the site. On top of that there was a very awesome disc golf course with many many discs for us to use. We really enjoyed the disc golf. There’s also horseshoe and cornhole (bring your own bags). The stars at night are AMAZING here!! We absolutely would reverse this site again. The one downside is it is just off the freeway, but the noise wasn’t too bad.
