Weekend Trip to Shangri-La
Beautiful and peaceful campsite, particularly the green yurt. Extremely serene forest, and beautiful trees and wildlife. The yurt and tub were clean and cozy, and the bathroom was perfectly stocked.

Really enjoyed spending time at the yurt. It is very cozy, and the soaking tub is very relaxing. Was the perfect spot for a nice retreat to reconnect with nature. Would 100% recommend 👍👍

We had a fantastic time at Andrea's place! It was a hot day, but the surrounding trees provided plenty of shade, keeping things cool and comfortable. We loved watching the stars at night and catching the sunrise in the morning. The absolute highlight was the relaxing hot soaking tub—it was perfect!
Just a heads-up, as other guests have mentioned, there are mosquitos, so be sure to bring bug spray. Also, make sure you follow the directions Andrea provides; they are clear but essential for not getting lost. We highly recommend a four-wheel-drive vehicle for the trip.

A bath in the woods with a view? Who would have thought! Definitely the highlight of our yurt camping experience. Even my 19 year old son said it was his favorite part. I loved the vibe of the yurt. We usually rough it so I totally felt spoiled crawling in to my real bed at the end of the day. And my daughter said tea on the bench watching the sun rise over the mountains was her highlight. (The red yurt slept three adults easily, could have done 2 more if we wanted.)

Great woodland camping. I took a short trip on a weekday to see the Perseides meteor shower as Shangri-La camp is located in a low light pollution area, class 2 of 9 on the Bortle scale, 1 being the darkest. Campsite 3 has a good sky view for this. Unfortunately the moon was around 83% on my trip, but still beautiful.
I was also looking for a place to test out my new 11’ camping hammock and stationed a Camp 2, this was perfect. I had fun testing out my new setup, it can be difficult to gauge online sometimes if the tree distances will work for you. Camp 2 and Camp 1 both had a handful of hammock spots with good trees spaced at 14’-16’. Very good for the 11’ and 12’ camping hammocks that need a bit more room to lash up.
The campgrounds have a good layout, and the whole area was well maintained, with the luxury of a flush bathroom. I enjoyed the solar powered path marker lights that illuminated the paths right after dusk. While I did not stay in a Yurt as I prefer the dirt, they did look very nice from the road. The poison ivy was managed very well around the camp. I did not see a single tick. A few mosquitos at dawn and dusk but not a problem that a little repellent couldn’t solve. Caught a glimpse at a deer and a jackrabbit both hopping through the meadow as well. I believe I was the only camper that night and it was without any human noise pollution, just crickets doing their thing. No cell service (AT&T) it’s a good thing!
Will come back, great stay.

I absolutely loved this spot! Me and my four girlfriends had a blast. I couldn’t believe the view just outside the Yurt. Had my morning coffee at that viewpoint each morning during my stay. There is also a short hike to a BEAUTIFUL meadow! The trail to this meadow begins just steps away from the yurt.

Great glamping experience. The ride up is a bit rough, but the reward is total seclusion. We were the only guests, and even if there had been others, they would have been out of sight.
The yurt was great, and the soaking tub amazing. A very unique experience.
I would recommend staying two nights in a row for a full day of calm and disconnect. We stayed one night, and it felt too short.

Weekend Trip to Running Springs Ranch Lavender 💜
We loved our stay on Steffny's property! We received a warm greeting upon arrival. Our campsite was very cute, cozy, and private. The bathroom facilities are in the main house and kept very clean! The lavender garden was beautiful! The only draw back was that there were several small caterpillars in the tent at any given time and we squished one that fell on our bed while sleeping. Overall, would certainly stay there again!

We had a great time at Shangri-La! Andrea was a great host, meeting up with us on our first day to give us the lay of the land, and keeping the sites clear and bathroom stocked. Our site was relatively private with access to a spring water spigot and flush toilet. Andrea directed us to a great hike nearby that while steep was very rewarding, passing an old oak tree and leading to an expansive clearing with terrific views. Turnouts to access Eel River are plentiful on the road leading to the entrance. Heed the provided description: you will need a 4WD/AWD vehicle to make the climb into the property. Take a screenshot of the directions as there is no cellular service on site or immediately nearby. Plan on making a 20-25 minute drive to get reception. Hopper's Corner Store in Potter Valley is the only place in the area for essentials so stock up there on your way in, or it'll be a 30 minute drive back to Potter Valley, and almost an hour to Ukiah.
If you're looking for a relatively remote car-camping experience that still offers modern amenities like running water and a flush toilet, this is the place!

Really beautiful spot and very accommodating host. It's worth getting a little bit off the beaten track of this gem. The host is so accommodating and really does a lot to make this play special. Definitely worth it and we will be back!

Andrea’s Shangri-La was such a sweet escape for our group over Memorial Day weekend. Andrea & her husband were both welcoming & helpful providing info about the grounds and happenings around town. We loved exploring the land, taking in the beautiful views & the campground was great. They provided brand new cookers & the bathroom made for a comfortable stay. Highly recommend!

The site was gorgeous and it was a plus having a flushing toilet and running water near by.
The drive up was steep so I would recommend a 4x4. It rained on us the second night and the roads were wet so this made it much easier.
Overall great views and secluded sites.

Camping in the yurt was so much fun! It was a cold, rainy, misty weekend. Perfect for relaxing in the woods and reconnecting with my hubby. The bathtub is glorious and we will remember our getaway weekend forever.

We had an amazing time at the red yurt this MLK weekend. The view from the site was breathtaking. The yurt was well equipped and the bed was super comfortable. We rented the portable heater and it saved us because of how cold it was. Only downside, we ran out of propane early the second morning but that was primarily because we had to run it earlier than expected. We will definitely be back during the warmer months. Andrea came by to say hi and make sure we were good to go. Highly encourage you to have AWD vehicle for the dirt road to the site. The tub was phenomenal!!!
