I rescue unwanted dogs from certain euthanasia who have been abandoned or abused, and provide them a forever home.  Now I want to share my beautiful wooded property where they can run, swim, investigate, play, and enjoy a free-range lifestyle. Campers and their canine family members are welcome to come and enjoy the outdoors.

4. The 395 Ranch, Seclusion & Views!

This property lies at the base of the Sierra Mountains, approximately 9 miles north of Doyle, CA on the west side of US Route 395. Access to the ranch road is from US Route 395. Its elevation starts at 3800 feet and rises higher than 5,000 feet. The lower half is rolling high chaparral and the upper half is steep with forest land that was burned in the 2021 Dixie Fire. There are still plenty of live trees left. This ranch lies in Deer Hunting Zone X6b. Lassen National Forest is on the west boundary of this ranch, with a gate that allows access to the national forest. The 395 Ranch boasts incredible views for nearly 75 miles. The ground is primarily decomposed granite so mud never becomes a problem. Wind can be strong when weather systems approach. The campsites are very basic with no toilet facilities (at this time) but water is available for cooking and washing dishes. An outdoor enclosed shower is available as well. At this time (summer) the water is naturally warm from the pipe’s exposure to the sun and hot water from a flash heater will be available in the near future. Tents can be erected almost anywhere on the property, but campfires are strictly prohibited until the rainy/cold season. Water and an electric hookup is available next to the barn for RVs and travel trailers at an additional cost. Sewer service is not available. There is also an older but nice three-bedroom, one bath home that is also available for short term rentals. It is heated during the winter by two wood burning stoves and cooled comfortably during the summer with a swamp cooler. The rent for this house is based on the season, ranging from $169-$229 nightly plus extra fees for pets or more than three people. Visitors of the past have found hiking, looking for artifacts and rocks to be fun activities. It’s also been an amazing place for stargazing and using telescopes. Others simply enjoyed relaxing and enjoying the peace, quiet and views. High quality campfire wood is available for $12.00 a bundle.

Weekend Trip to Magical Lost Sierra Bungalow!

Staying at this magical little cabin in the woods was everything you could ask for and then some. We had a great time just enjoying the quietness of the area and just the sounds of the Yuba river. The cabin was beautiful and just felt like staying in a piece of history with how beautiful it was inside and out. Stay here and you wont regret it, only that you didnt book a longer stay.

Kristine’s land was amazing, precut fire wood, water and even fresh table cloth on the tables onsite. Private spacious and clean!!! Even had portable toilets. Made dry camping easy and comfortable. Plenty of space for tents. Would highly recommend to anyone!

Kari was absolutely awesome, extremely hospitable, and was always available for anything we needed. She gave great recommendations, and even let us borrow her can opener! :) The space itself was really great. Lots of room for parking, nice, large flat areas for tents (bring a tarp, though, because it is mostly gravel), chairs and picnic table, a cool little setup underneath some aspens and pines. Pop-up toilet situation was easy to work with. Really nice to have access to potable water and firewood. The BARn was freakin' epic! It was so fun to spend a day at Lake Davis kayaking and swimming, then coming back and roasting up some dinner on the provided fire pit (so awesome!) and hanging out in the converted mini-barn. It had fun lighting, speakers, a cool bar-style island, couches, etc... Having access to the wilderness and then what felt like our own private little pub back at our campsite? Epic. My only *heads up* would be that the site itself isn't what I would consider remote. It is super conveniently located, especially with regard to the lake, but it is also part of a larger property, so you do share a driveway with the host's house as well as her tenant's space. It's not bad by any means, but it also isn't a private campsite deep in the woods, so, if you are looking for that type of remote privacy, just keep this in mind. I went with 4 of my friends for a little bachelor getaway and, ultimately, it rocked. Highly recommend.

This really is a perfect as everyone says it is. We had an ideal couple of days relaxing at the river and letting our dogs run around to their hearts’ content. Kristine is the most thoughtful host- everything you could need is there but nothing superfluous. It’s as close to a wilderness site as you would want. Just ideal.

We loved camping on Kris's property. The campsite was huge, she provided wood and water. The porta potties were very clean. The river was wonderful, our dogs who are new to camping had an absolute ball. They ran, played, played and swam in the river, and wore themselves out. It was peaceful, and beautiful. We plan to return with the whole family (17 of us). Thank you so much Kris for a great experience.

The family plus the dogs absolutely loved camping on Kristines land! The creek is not even a 10 minute walk away and has the most spectacular views. The kids enjoyed catching crawdads while the dogs enjoyed the grassy island bank. The sky at night is out of this world, we saw so many shooting stars. Kristine provided nicely stacked firewood, multiple gallons of water and answered all questions we had. Site is close enough to town that one night when no one wanted to cook, we could easily drive down the road and enjoy a local store/restaurant "Grizzly Bites" that had awesome food.

Huge property that abuts national forest land with Indian Creek only 100 yards away. The convenience to the creek is the big draw. Kids and dog had a great time splashing in the water. Kids saw trout (but sadly I didn’t catch anything). Site is moderately wooded, away from the house and road so is quiet. Very private given the size of her property and the fact it abuts NFS land. Site had plenty of space for multiple tents and cars. Sandy layer that was deposited by a recent flood makes a comfortable nights sleep. Owner provided tons of firewood and jugs of potable water and clean porta potties. Note that the area burned during the Dixie fire. The property itself and the immediate area did not but some hillsides are scarred.

This was our first time camping and it was such a lovely experience at Genesee Camp. We had such a fun time and Kristine gladly guided us to camp! It was beautiful and serene. Kristine’s property was amazing! It’s beautiful, spacious, and private. The creek was a few min walk. There’s a town nearby where we bought ice cream and milkshakes. Our family (and very happy off-leashed dog) definitely enjoyed our stay and would come back. Highly recommend Kristine’s place!

Kari’s campground is such a perfect vacation spot!! Located minutes from the lake and nestled in a beautiful grove of trees, it was such a fun and welcoming experience! Kari is such an amazing person, she made us feel like family! She greeted us when we arrived and showed us around while also giving tips and explaining the local wildlife, which I appreciated so much as a mom of littles. She also checked in every now and then to make sure we were comfortable and that we had everything we needed. Such a great host!❤️ The site was super spacious, table was clean and the area is so nice we didn’t need to use our bug spray! The barn is so relaxing as well, and was fun to have lunch in when we got back from Coot Bay(definitely a place worth checking out). Beautiful warm water, sandy beach looking into beautiful trees and mountains. Bring your fishing gear if you like to fish, someone caught a HUGE rainbow trout next to us!! 🐟 We enjoyed the outdoor games provided, and the sound system was a huge plus with a Bluetooth option or we stuck to the local radio station which was great!! I noticed how Kari’s property gets plenty of both sun and shade at all times during the day, which is HUGE for us as we had our 2y/o, 5y/o & senior pup as well. There was potable water on sight with a hose that made it easy to fill the kids pool! I’d describe this place as: Peaceful Family friendly Breathtaking A place to make core memories (Can I say perfect?)😍 We can’t wait until next time, tysm!

Kristine has most perfect set up! I cannot believe it’s her back yard! It’s beautiful!! She has a camp fire, a nice area to set up your tent, a river or water place/whole to get fresh and nice trails! She is so close to the little town where they have amazing milk shakes ! So much history and great sites! We really enjoyed it and we would definitely come back! Very family friends !

Kristine’s site was exactly the space we wanted. No other campers nearby, the area had lots of pine trees and we still got sun and an opening by the fire pit for star gazing. She has picnic tables, rocking chairs, swing, horseshoe rings, and water for us to use. The entrance doesn’t have a sign so slow down and look for the dirt road as described the instructions. You have the creek available to you from the campsite about 10min walking because the water level is lower this time of year. 10min from Taylorsville town and 30 min from Antelope Lake. Highly recommend.
