Weekend Trip to Prospector Ranch

We had a great time in the “land yacht“. It was a fun throwback to the past. Very comfortable, clean and cozy. The secluded area was very relaxing and Meggan was an exquisite host.

1 night at Rock & Tree

Rock and Tree grounds were a magical and perfect spot for us to camp for the night in our Subaru with a Roof Top Tent. Tons of flat open space with trees to stay near. Easy and quick to get to off the freeway. So many comfortable spots to enjoy on the property: creative covered seating areas, cool gazebo lounges, hammocks, perfect artistic solar lit spaces abound. Taryn and Taylor were so upbeat and easy to work with and get us set up. Running cold water, primative toilets, perfect for what we needed to stay the night. Thank you!!!

Weekend Trip to Cold Creek Estates

I really appreciate that this wonderful family shared their farm with me. I found the spot to be very special with a beautiful view of the canyon. I can’t remember ever having honey that was so amazing. I wish I bought more.

Surprisingly close to the city but felt like you are deep in the country. Quiet. Peaceful. Convenient. Hosts were great. Lots of cool movie set stuff makes you feel like you are spending the night in a small western town but with the modern conveniences and other modern quirky movie items. This place has character!

Weekend Trip to Old West Mountain Camping Near LA!

This is a beautifully remote property where you can take a break from civilization! We had fun hiking around and enjoying the scenery. No toilets so be prepared to pee in bush and pack out your waste.

Weekend Trip to Desert Castle

This place is great if you want a solitude getaway where you can enjoy the sunny beautiful day and star filled skies at night. Desert Castle is very rustic, you have to bring your own water, power and bathroom. The small house structure allows you to enjoy a nice indoor fireplace at night.

1 night at Large Desert with a Gorgeous View!

We arrived after dark, which made finding the site a bit challenging. We didn’t notice the white PVC pipes marking the location until the morning—adding reflective tape to the pipes could make them easier to spot at night. While searching, we also realized the nearby road seems to be a spot where people tend to leave trash, which was unfortunate. We stayed on New Year’s Eve, so there was a distant neighbor partying, which kept us up a bit. We understand wanting to celebrate the occasion, though! A highlight of our stay was spotting an adorable little fox—it made the experience special. Overall, this was a pleasant spot to spend the night while passing through.

Had a great stay at the antfarm! Robin was super helpful and friendly, and though it was a tight fit, my van fit on the van pad site. Definitely take head of the size limit though! He talked about expanding the space in the future so check with Robin to make sure your rig would fit. Very convenient spot right off the highway for road trippers through LA. The hiking on his property was lovely.

Weekend Trip to Rock & Tree

We held our camping-style wedding here and had the time of our lives! Taryn & Anson have built an absolutely beautiful space and every interaction makes it clear how much they care about Rock & Tree. Taryn was available and communicative, recommending great local vendors. We were able to have 120 people park & camp with plenty of space leftover. Rock & Tree is SO special and I’d highly recommend having an event here, big or small.

They purchased the ranch 3 years ago and love being outside of the city in the mountains. Star gazing is a must when staying there! The camp site is NEXT DOOR to Prospector Ranch which is our 1800's style ranch tucked away in the Santa Monica mountains, close to beaches, vineyards, amazing hiking, biking to the beach and the city! The wide open empty lot looks out at the beautiful mountains. Anson is a folk and blues musician and has traveled all around the U.S. playing his music and I work for a children's book company. One day, we decided that we wanted to live the rest of our lives hosting live music, and events and that's how Rock & Tree began. As the idea grew, we wanted to create an Open Canvas so that the guest could dream up what they wanted on our stage. We moved to the Inland Empire from Santa Monica, in 2017 with the dream of building an open canvas event space out of sustainable, re purposed and natural materials. Our mission is help enrich the culture of Perris, CA by providing a unique venue that takes you away from the hustle and bustle and takes you to a wonderland of nature surrounded by rocks and eucalyptus trees. Anson and I continue to build everything ourselves with the help of our friends and family every now and again. Our process is that we source as much lumber using the dead Eucalyptus trees we have here on the 36 acre property and we are constantly trying to come up with innovative ways to use recycled and donated materials in the venue. During the pandemic, we turned our venue into a campground so we could open up the venue to people who needed to get out into nature. We are now open for daily camping and private events. Cold Creek is a unique 112-acre property in the San Bernardino National Forest. Because of its location in a 3,200 foot elevation, it's colder than the Southern California deserts and warmer than the cold mountains above us. Our temperatures rarely exceed 90F and rarely drop below 40F. We have plenty sun and about two to three days of snow every winter. A year-around creek keeps everything green and fresh around the year. We are the second owners since 1913, and operate a small organic orchard on the property. We are most famous for our honey, peaches and figs, but also grow apples, pears, persimmon, blackberries, greens, bay leaf, white sage and more.For years , we were WWOOF hosts (look it up ;-) and resisted opening up Cold Creek to traffic associated with daily camping arrivals, but we finally found the perfect spots for visitors to park their RVs, spend a quiet night and visit the orchard by foot.We are now excited by the prospect of focusing on expanding our micro-farming and inviting campers to look over our shoulders.

The campsite is a large flat area. For a trailer or RV it's a great place to park and the view is towards wide open spaces. With a tent or if you want more pure nature, you can drive out onto the property further towards the small ruin of the old homesteader's cabin or beyond. The property has a long-abandoned gold mine and circular arrastres where miners used mules to break up rocks. Nearby Acton has pick-your-own apples/pears/peaches at Bloom farms. We are at 3000 feet with strong sun during the day and cool mountains air at night. The camping is set away from structures, but if you want to stroll, closer to the ranch buildings, we have friendly small goats you can visit if interested and horses and a donkey to say hello to across the corral fence.
