While we are on the outskirts of Tucson, we are not completely remote. We have carved our sites out of the natural layout of the desert. There are many kinds of cactus in our area in addition to the magnificent Saguaro, and uneven areas when walking. We keep it as natural as possible. We have a small "Mercantile" on property. This is our office, but we also have items you may have forgotten, and souvenirs made by local artists. Also available is firewood, and ice is for sale for your convenience. We have a small Laundry Shack (two washers, two dryers) 2.00 wash/2.00 dry. You'll need cash for these things, we do not take any other form of payment at this time. Camp Saguaro is tobacco-free. There’s a little something for everybody if you know what I mean. Night time is very dark out here. There are no street lights because Kitt Peak National Observatory is just over yonder. You can see it from the property. Most nights the Milky Way is clear and visible in the sky. I have pathway lights, and low lumen lighting around the park, but a flashlight is still helpful for getting around at night. Next door is a bird sanctuary with 2 macaws (Blue Bird and Max), and halfway up the mountain (Keystone Peak) is an abandoned fluorite mine you can go explore. We are in the foothills of the Sierrita Mountains, at an elevation of 3,200 ft. That’s 1,000 ft higher than Tucson, and 2,000 ft higher than Phoenix. The plant life is very lush and green for the desert, and the wildlife is plentiful.

2 nights at Mesquite Haven

Me and my boyfriend had an amazing time visiting Mesquite Haven. We’re not even 2 hours away so we decided to give it a go and it wasn’t a disappointment. We stayed in the Tombstone Rose, it was cozy, spacious, clean & already had a heater inside, which they’ll show you how to use. They also will provide a Jackery for charging & to plug in the lights that are in there. Jennifer a Dave are very nice, chill & welcoming if you need anything all you gotta do is ask and they’ll come see what’s up. Right when you arrive Jennifer will be outside to show you everything, where to park, the restroom area, where to go look and explore literally everything. Then like I said earlier they are very nice people you can talk to them, it was nice getting to know them. Lastly they are pet friendly. Our dog did cause a little problem but we just contacted them right away and they came over to see what the situation was, they didn’t make us feel bad or anything because accidents do happen. Just be straight up with them and they will be with you too. So yeah I highly recommend coming here for a visit. Can’t wait to come again.

I loved the whole vibe of camp, which is fun and functional! I stayed in the Adobe, which was very comfortable with an air mattress I rented from camp owners for $15. There were hanging overhead lights near the bed which I found helpful though not a substitute for lantern and headlamp. The bathroom was clean, the shower had a healthy stream of warm water. There were welcoming touches throughout the campground including lights on trees, little colorful fake nomes and mushrooms decorating the cacti area near my structure. There were adirondack chairs throughout, easy dish washing sink, a convenience store with ice and wood, gift items. All in all a comfortable experience I’d do again. Plus location is great near Saguero National Park and Gates Pass (wonderful sunset views). My friends stayed in nearby camp sites on premises and we enjoyed campfire meals and singing. Before 8 pm. It was very quiet and clean. Thank you!

Was a beautiful, relaxing stay. The adobe structure was warm on a very cold night. Loved all the custom features. The bathroom and showers were very close by, great community spaces to stare up at the stars. Great to be so close to the national park and stay out in the desert for night. Beautiful property, felt safe, great night of sleep. Will def come back.

5 nights at Gila River View

This was one of the best places we've ever stayed! The host, Amber, was incredible and made sure we had everything we needed. The area is secluded and private and we never heard any noise other than nature. We loved that it's a working cattle ranch with horses, cattle, and pigs. The animals were all friendly and never bothered us. Oh, there was a very friendly barn cat that did snuggle with us a bunch! The camper was an amazing accommodation that offered everything we needed for an indoor experience and sleeping. The hiking opportunities are endless here! With just a 10 minute hike you can be on the top of a mountain overlooking 2 different valleys that the Gila river runs through. In about a 20-25ish minute hike you can make it from the camp clear into a hidden valley on the back side and make it right up to a secret spot next to the Gila river. We spent half a day at this spot relaxing and enjoying the weather and nature! It's about a 10 minute drive to the nearest town for any supplies or if you want a restaurant. We only went once to get more drinking water and we were back at camp within the hour! We will definitely stay here again! We love the place and it's less than 2 hours from our house! We stayed at a place called Lodge, and honestly, it was even better in real life than in the photos. Everything was new, and inside it smelled like wood and nature. It felt very safe and clean, with a beautiful area around and everything you need for cooking and relaxing. The atmosphere was amazing, and the host was so kind and welcoming. At night, you could hear coyotes, which made it feel truly wild and natural. The nights were a bit cool and humid, like in any desert, but everything was well prepared. The toilets and showers were very comfortable, with hot water, soap, and a place to wash dishes. Overall, the vibe was just perfect — this is the best camping experience I’ve ever had. Thank you so much for everything!

What a gem! This campground is one of the cleanest, most charming places. Super close to west side of the park, easy to find, remarkable hosts. Hot showers & running water sinks/flush toilets were wonderful, close by, and super clean. Our family of 3 stayed in the adobe which was charming and added to the southwest experience of the desert (especially grateful for our little adobe given the torrential thunderstorms we were able to escape from/stay dry in!).

Would 100% recommend again. My husband and I stayed here for one night and it was such a relaxing and wonderful stay. The camp host was very friendly and informative. It was only a 7 min drive from Saguaro National Park visitor center. Hopefully I get to stay here again! The bathrooms and shower are very clean, and the shower was super-hot, and we were both able to take a much-needed shower! Adobe was very clean and smelled really nicely like Sage. We were able to cook with our camp supplies and our air mattress fit perfectly on the bed. I slept really well and was very warm in the Adobe. You can purchase supplies needed, do laundry, and do your dishes with hot water. Definitely worth the money especially if you are on a long road trip worth the stay!
