A ranch of nearly 100,000 acres jointly owned by Marion Clark and Croydon Cooley a U.S. army scout. According to legend, sometime around 1876, the partners decided that there was not enough room for both of them and one of them should leave. They decided to settle this issue over a game of "Seven Up" (with the winner taking the ranch and the loser leaving.) After the game seemed to have no winner in sight the game reached it's climax when Clark said, "If you can show low, you win." At this point Cooley turned up the deuce of clubs, and declared "Show Low" it is! Show Low is a city in Navajo County, Arizona among the lush green ponderosa pine forestland and along Arizona's Mogollon Rim at an elevation of 6,345 feet. Silver Streak Sally

1 site · Lodging1 acre · Young, Gila
Hello! Please contact me before booking- there seems to be a delay in the calendar syncing with other OTA's (Online Travel Agency). Sorry- no infants or children under 12 (stairs/retaining wall falling hazard) Sally is a 1976 Silver Streak Trailer- completely redone on the inside- although she still has vintage charm. This cozy Young rental is located in the midst of nature but still in a neighborhood, and can accommodate two guests for a romantic weekend getaway in Arizona. Comfy Queen bed with ensuite bathroom (sink, toilet, shower). In truth the indoor shower is rarely used- the huge Bath House just outside has a rain shower and shower wand, claw foot bath tub and flush toilet. Hot soak in the tub or plunge into the Cowboy stock tank just steps away. Private! In the living area, guests can lounge on comfortable chairs and relax watching TV (bring your passwords!), the dining table is perfect for two people. The kitchen is equipped with enough cooking utensils, dishes and silverware, pots and pans, a microwave, small fridge, kettle, toaster, coffee maker (coffee, creamer, sugar), and air fryer to satisfy your weekend needs. Other amenities include free parking and Wi-Fi, and gas grill. When guests go outside, they will find a covered porch with two chairs and the outdoor fire table has more seating for star gazing (black sky- no city lights). Also, outdoor table and chairs for dining. There will NEVER be anyone in the Gray Cabin unless you rent it so you can use the extra beds. The fully fenced acre will let your small to medium size dog race around and go crazy with freedom!

Nevado Ranch Camp

1 site · Tent2 acres · Vernon, Apache
Welcome to Nevado Ranch Camping - the best White Mountains dark sky camping in the U.S. Southwest! So, you and your family or friends are most likely looking for a great location to pitch your tent(s) while exploring Arizona and New Mexico. Or, perhaps you are an ATV off-roader with your pride and joy in tow. In either case, you want a location that is "out there with the wildlife" and yet is secure from the critters. Feeling cozy in your camp while also having access to recreational amenities that make a stay so enjoyable is important to you. You also want a location where, at the end of a long day of hiking, biking and/or sightseeing, you can relax by a fire, listen to tunes, and enjoy your favorite beverage while looking up at a pitch black sky with stars as bright as diamonds. Our Value Proposition to You • Affordable rates • A location in the middle of the beautiful White Mountains wildlife - completely fenced off for your security • A level and cushy campsite with fire pit tucked in among the juniper trees • A crystal-clear sky for dark sky stargazing • A 15' x 20' recreation deck with fire pit, gas grill, music system and Adirondack chairs and recliners • A fully stocked, self-service kitchen to prepare your meals • An indoor relaxation area • A bathroom with hot water shower (cleaned and sterilized daily) • Close to twenty (20) national parks and monuments • Plenty of free, on-site parking • Active duty and veteran discounts • Veteran owned and operated The Camp Nevado Ranch Camp is 2.2 acres located smack dab in the middle of the Springerville “monogenetic” Volcanic Field (3rd largest in the U.S.) that consists of 405 discrete and dormant vents. The ground is relatively soft and perfect for a tent. We have plenty of free on-site parking. At an elevation of 6,993 feet, Nevado Ranch Camp, Apache County, AZ, is an easy day’s drive to dozens of popular tourist destinations in Arizona and New Mexico. In Portuguese, the word Nevado means “snowy.” The delicious city water we use is sourced from the never-gone-dry Coconino Aquafer. While we are completely off-the-grid, Nevado Ranch Camp is solar powered because we want to present as small a carbon footprint as possible. Changes in aLtitude, changes in aTtitude Given our elevation, there is no air pollution. It is roughly 20-25 degrees cooler fresher at the Camp than in the Phoenix or Tucson valleys. At Nevado Ranch Camp, the air is clear and crisp which makes for awesome stargazing - the Milky Way can easily be seen overhead. The Campsites At Nevado Ranch Camp, we offer 10 well-maintained, level campsites nestled among a forest of juniper trees. We have intentionally kept the number of campsites low so that our guests don't feel like they are part of a chaotic crowd. Each campsite has a 10’ x 10’ area for tent as well as additional space for chairs, bikes and other camping items. Deck lights provide a smidgeon of illumination at night. You can have your own private campfire as long as you use the locations provided AND when checking in, you prove to management that you have a working fire extinguisher on hand. You will be glad to know that the Camp is completely fenced off for your security. Our location is smack dab in the middle of the land inhabited by giant elk, coyotes, black bears, mule deer, antelope, foxes and mountain lions. The animals are usually active from dusk to dawn but don't be surprised if you hear these animals walking past your campsite on the road. The reason why they do so is because the series of roads and the vacant property next to us is the only unobstructed north/south passage for miles around - and the animals make use of it! The Hut The Hut is a converted barn (with hot and cold running water) that has a "serve yourself" kitchen for your use. There is a microwave, a three-burner stove, an air fryer and a George Forman grill, two refrigerators, and a blender. You bring your own K pods for the coffee maker, as well as your own sugar, creamer, etc. We provide the paper plates and bowls, plastic cutlery, drink cups, and napkins for your use - you bring your own food and beverages, seasonings, etc. The bathroom w/shower is cleaned and sterilized daily. Recreation Deck When you want to step away from the tent and lounge in the sun or moonlight, you will find a 15' x 20' asymmetrical Victorian stone deck outfitted with a gas grill, a music entertainment system, a lounge bed w/shade, an in-the-deck fire pit and a number of comfy Adirondack lounge chairs. Tiki torches and deck lights provide a subtle illumination at night. A badminton net is also used for volleyball and "tickle ball" (our version of pickleball). Bring your own paddles and other equipment. We keep the net down low so the young'uns can experience the thrill of spiking the ball! Indoor Relaxation Area You will like the indoor relaxation area that has a sofa, a recliner, a computer desk w/printer, wi-fi (no streaming, please!), and a tv. A shaded patio with sofa and chairs is just outside the front door. Live music If you’re a musician and/or a singer, bring your instruments and your melodic voice. The instruments we make available to guests include a Gibson Les Paul 100-year anniversary edition electric guitar, baritone and tenor ukeleles, a Brazilian mini Djembe drum, bongos, a harmonica, and a hand-carved Hawaiian tenor percussion block.

Love Red Lodge

3 sites · RVs, Tents42 acres · Winslow West, Navajo
This property has been a dream come true! It's a 42.22 acre property in the high desert of Navajo County, AZ. It is currently the home to my tiny house project (not currently available to rent, but hopefully it will be soon!) and eventually it'll be home to a small vineyard. It is peaceful, calm, and has beautiful views all around. The terrain is rolling grassland with junipers and nearby canyons. Learn more about this land:This is NOT a glamping experience. This is a primitive, remote, off-grid, starry night experience.Camp out on my beautiful, open ranch land with wide views including the San Francisco Peaks to the west. The stars are beautiful and most nights you can see at least 1 planet. The space is rolling grassland with junipers throughout. A wash runs through my property, with slab rocks and lots of wildlife - see jackrabbits, deer, coyotes, and even the extremely endangered Mexican Grey Wolf. Access a side canyon of Chevelon Canyon by taking about a 1/2 mile walk from the property (directions can be provided!) to get some exercise in and explore a beautiful Arizona canyon. Native American artifacts have been known to be found in the area - if you find any on the property please admire them and leave them in place :).Select your tent spot anywhere on the property. You have 42 acres to choose from! There are spots where we've had several large tents set up at once just west of the tiny house, down the hill from the stone fire ring on the property. There are also several more spots up hill and between junipers - explore and find your spot! RVs would be best to part in the circular driveway near the tiny house. There aren't other formal roads on the property at this time. There is a tiny house on the property as well as several in-progress art pieces. See the pictures for more details! The tiny house is not currently available for rent, but I expect that down the line I might be able to make it available for Hipcampers. The property is part of Chevelon Canyon Ranch, a ranch with privately owned 40+ acre parcels. There is a ramada and community well, and the dirt roads are maintained by the association. During the drier times of the year the property is accessible by cars, but during rainy seasons and other times of rough weather it's best to access with a higher clearance vehicle. FWD is not usually necessary. The ranch is located about an hour north of Heber, AZ, 3.5 hours from Phoenix.Cell signal is very limited throughout the ranch. My property is positioned with some of the best reception in the ranch, so if you're on Verizon you will likely have a weak to moderate signal most of your stay. Most other carriers (particularly TMobile and Sprint) will have little to no signal after leaving the pavement. Enjoy the disconnected time!
