This area was called Boot's Bottoms growing up and the name stuck. There is a rock wall close to the campsite that was a old grist mill site. Plenty of wildlife, bird watching, wildflowers and creek walking. Some old ATV trails for hiking as well. Very remote and quite! Learn more about this land: Setup camp on the banks of Dorsey creek in Bug Tussle. Wooded area with shade in the warm season. Flat ground for tents or plenty of trees for hammocks. Easy access for vehicles directly to the campsite. Fire ring with grill grates present for cowboy cooking. Peaceful with plenty of opportunity to see wildlife. Primitive toilet present. Rock dam in creek is great to entertain kids, old grist mill site couple hundred yards downstream. Logging and ATV present for hiking and wildlife viewing. Deeper sections in creek present for cooling off in warm weather.

Welcome to CAMP 222, a private campground nestled on approximately 1 acre of land adjacent to Lewis Smith Lake in Cullman, AL. Experience the tranquility of lake life as you enjoy boating adventures accessed via our private boat ramp. Our campground offers camper hook-ups for water and electricity, although sewer facilities are not available from April - November a portable toilet is on site. During the months of December - March, guests must either have a camper with a restroom or bring their own camp toilets. Conveniently situated just off Cullman County Road 222, our campsite is within a quarter mile of two gas stations, two independently owned stores offering short-order food options, and a Dollar General. While there may be some road noise from County Road 222, especially during daytime hours, it typically tapers off in the evening and nighttime. Enjoy stunning views of the 4th of July fireworks from Smith Lake Park, as our property provides a prime vantage point. Lewis Smith Lake, managed by Alabama Power, spans 21,000 acres and is the deepest lake in Alabama at 264 ft. The water level varies throughout the year, usually reaching full-pool from April to July before gradually decreasing for the autumn and winter seasons. Please note the rocky shore near the sun deck, which is why jumping or diving from the sun deck is prohibited. The nearby City of Cullman, located approximately 10 miles away, offers abundant shopping, dining, and entertainment options. Additionally, the city hosts numerous festivals throughout the year, including the Strawberry Festival in April, Octoberfest in October, and Christkindlmarkt in November & December.

Rachael and Neel were so kind and helpful to me. I was traveling through town with my pup and needed a night on the road. This camp was perfect for my dog Roux. She was able to enjoy being outside while I set up camp and we enjoyed a wonderful morning by the lake before another long day on the road. The shower and bathroom were clean and easy to use. 10/10 would recommend.

This was our first time glamping, and we really enjoyed our stay! The campground was peaceful and beautiful, and our tent looked out into the trees with a view of the creek below. There was also a trail to explore and a beautiful pond with lots of ducks. It really felt like a special place. They truly thought of so many details. Our tent had lights, charging stations, nightstands, , a fridge, plenty of sleeping space, towels, bottled water, a Keurig and just about everything we could need. We ordered firewood and s’mores, but there was also a propane fire option available. Even the path to our tent was lit at night, which made everything feel magical. The bathrooms and showers were clean and centrally located. The tents are fairly close together, but ours still felt peaceful and had a wonderful view from the deck. We happened to stay during extremely hot weather, close to 100°F, so keeping the tent cool was a challenge. Overall, though, we had a wonderful first glamping experience and really appreciated how much thought went into making the tents comfortable and welcoming!

Weekend Trip to CAMP 222 (A Private Campground)

Another perfect camping trip at camp 222! As usual, the grounds were perfect. We saw plenty of geese and ducks and other wildlife. For those who haven’t been yet, this is par for the course. The port-a potty was very clean. We had enough firewood, that was provided free of charge. We had power, we had water, we had a hot outdoor shower that was just amazing! We had everything that we needed to enjoyed ourselves. It was three generations… myself, my son and my grandson! My grandson, who is 10…it was his first ever camping trip and we couldn’t keep him calm down enough, nor did we try to ! Thank you so much Rachel ! We look forward to another outstanding trip back !!
