The creek can be waist deep in areas but mostly is good for sitting in and just relaxing. Extremely quiet on a dead end road. We have 5 bars of AT&T 5g cell service, Verizon can be hit or miss. All other cell services do not work. We love the creek and our secluded valley. Only a few farmers live down the road. This makes for a very private experience that can be naturalist / clothing optional friendly. The creek is secluded with plenty of trees to enjoy however you wish. Spaces are extremely level and there are good Satellite tv abilities. We have firewood on site and two stone fire pits. Nearby is a wonderful old grist mill, Tim's Ford state park, Tim's Ford lake, Jack Daniels Distillery and other attractions. We are also about 45 minutes from Huntsville, AL with the NASA Space and Science Center. Space #1 is closest to the road. Space #2 has a larger patio. This retreat is the Perfect way to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life, yet not too far away from essentials. Hiking adventures nearby include University of the South Domain, Buggy Top, Walls Of Jerico and many more. 30 and 50 Amp pedestals at each site along with water and sewer hookups. Level sites. Due to health regulations, we only accept RVs with a pottie system as we do not offer bathroom facilities.

There is plenty of privacy, even though you are right near a public road that has very little traffic. There are no other campsites nearby and the owner lives 1/2 mile away. Recreation nearby includes Canoeing/kayaking on both the Elk River and Richland creek (shuttles can usually be arranged), Stillhouse Hollow Falls (beautiful waterfall hiking), Trail of Tears Interpretive Center, and Big Creek Winery. Tents/Table/and cots are available to rent as well.

Welcome to CAMP 222, a private campground nestled on approximately 1 acre of land adjacent to Lewis Smith Lake in Cullman, AL. While there may be some road noise from County Road 222, especially during daytime hours, it typically tapers off in the evening and nighttime. Enjoy stunning views of the 4th of July fireworks from Smith Lake Park, as our property provides a prime vantage point. Lewis Smith Lake, managed by Alabama Power, spans 21,000 acres and is the deepest lake in Alabama at 264 ft. The water level varies throughout the year, usually reaching full-pool from April to July before gradually decreasing for the autumn and winter seasons. Please note the rocky shore near the sun deck, which is why jumping or diving from the sun deck is prohibited. The nearby City of Cullman, located approximately 10 miles away, offers abundant shopping, dining, and entertainment options. Additionally, the city hosts numerous festivals throughout the year, including the Rock The South Music Festival.

Beautiful place, everything is exactly as described. The road is a little noisy but I didn’t mind. Where else do you get a camper spot on the water, with private boat launch, dock, fire pit etc. For the information of future campers, there is a free rv dump station at the Interstate rest area 7 miles away. We stopped on the way out to flush the tanks.

I loved camping on the Bate's Farm. Wayne was a great host. The facility had a great balance of rustic nature and modern amenities. The land was peaceful and natural. Each site was private and included a fire pit, picnic table, and trash bin. Free showers, laundry, and a playground were also available.

The gentleman that met us was very nice and explained how to use everything. We loved the fact that everything was so clean and we wanted for nothing including wood for the campfire. The shower was really neat and hot water was really appreciated. Only drawback was the dogs across the lake barked non stop from 5-9 PM. No fault of owner of campground so don't hold that against them. Just be aware that you will have to deal with that. The only other small problem for me was getting up the little rise out of the port-a-potty/shower area. If you are not a senior, it will not be a problem for you. I would just have appreciated a couple of rock steps or something there. All in all, we loved our time there and if ever back in this area would definitely try to book it again.

The ride to our camp site was amazingly beautiful down a trail. Once we got to our campsite it was beautiful open grassy area woodsy trails open nature pluse stargazing. Each campsite sets far back from each other for more privacy. This is true nature camping experience we loved it. Our host was very helpful and we will certainly come back. It's going to be gorgeous when the leaves start changing.

Great country location. Easy set-up. Hosts have thought of nearly everything to make your stay a little more enjoyable. The bathhouse was clean and comfortable, the site included a nice picnic area and fire pit, and there were even 'surprise' amenities like a free laundry area. Loved walking our dog around the grounds. Very beautifully laid out. It's obvious they've put a lot of thought into this space.

I loved camping here at Bates Farm! It was a very peaceful and spacious primitive site where you can really feel more immersed in nature. Mary and her husband were very hospitable and made sure to alert us whenever archers were on the range. I will definitely love to come back to participate in the 3D archery here in the future. Highly recommended, it was a cool experience.

It’s amazing to have such great primitive camping spots so close to town! The hosts are friendly, quick to respond, and genuinely care about making your stay enjoyable. Highly recommend for anyone wanting a quick escape and a chance to reconnect with nature.

Weekend Trip to Bates Farm

It was an excellent experience from the reservation to check out time. The hosts take time to talk to you and periodically check in to see if you need anything. The property has an excellent choice of different tent camping spots. The bathrooms showers and laundry areas are clean. Me and 3 other friends were on a motorcycle trip and all of us say we would definitely stay at Bates Farm again if in the area!

Lindsey’s was perfect for us, a full hook up with beautiful views and a great creek. Lindsey is the perfect host and came and said hi when we got there to make sure all was good. We will definitely be back and highly recommend :)

We stayed overnight as a halfway point in our trip. It was a quiet little gem. Easy hookups, accessible, good WiFi and flat spots. There was a large koi pond as a pleasant surprise!

Very nice set up, you can tell a lot of time has been out into every detail. WATCH FOR SASQUATCH! Beautiful view of smith lake, cute and clean shower. We had a great time and made so many memories. Thanks Rachael
