Our 10x12 foot canvas safari tent offers a cozy 120 sq ft of space which can accommodate a twin size mattress in addition to the provided queen bed.

Guest access
Folklore Forest is on 3 acres and has 270 feet of River Frontage at your disposal. Little River is considered to be the purest, natural flowing river in the state. Bring your fishing gear and kayaks. Sit on the rocks at the base of the waterfall under the rhododendrons and holly trees, and wade in the water in the warm months.
Park on the side of the road in front of the Cynefin sign. There are solar lights illuminating the path to the tent if you arrive after dark. There you will find a that you can use to bring your luggage down.
Other things to note
• The river will rise and fall depending on how much rain we are getting. It tends to be lower late summer to early fall. We cannot guarantee water levels.
• This is primitive off grid camping. There's no electricity or running water. We recommend bringing a portable battery pack to charge devices.
• Please be respectful of any wildlife (there are white tail deer, raccoons, weasels, harmless black snakes, mink, foxes, coyotes, many birds, and the extremely, and we do mean extremely, rare black bear), while fishing in the little river is allowed, hunting is prohibited.

For casual campers we have the Wooded Campsite which is easy to access, and for more experienced campers wanting a little more of a hike we recommend the Secluded Grove campsite. The land from bottom to top of the mountain is designed as a 5 part pilgrimage, and how high up the mountain you can get can be used to evaluate your spiritual and physical fitness. WLCC minister Aron. the campsite host is typically available for Guided pilgrimage hikes and if the weather cooperates, and if your party is tough enough, and doesn't mind a little scrambling and getting dirty, you can also see the mandala cliff cave which only maybe 1 in 5 groups make it to is true test of skill to get there to complete the final step of the pilgrimage. Most campers choose to self explore and there are many beautiful sights to see with trail going up the mountain, or you can just chill with the view of your campsite if you prefer. As you ascend Sand Mountain, the vegetation thins revealing spectacular views of Lookout Mountain especially in the fall & winter months after the leaves have fallen. At the very top of the property are 30+ ft high cliffs. There is a cliff cave that has a colorful collection of lichen growing in it and we have named it our 'Mandala cave', but access is subject to weather and requires Guide to access. If you enjoy bush craft, there is plenty of material for you to build a lean-to, tipi, or structure of choice. Trees range from poplar to multiple species of oak. Natural wildlife include deer, wild turkeys, scorpions, and ticks. Pets are welcome, and be advised we have a male cat who will likely hide if you bring dogs but won't bother you. If you need assistance minister Aron, campsite host lives on site in the custom earthbag parsonage, and is also available for earthbag building workshops and guided hikes for nominal donation of $5. All funds from hipcamp donations go to Whole Life Center Church s.s.m, the Freedom religion (wholelife.cc) for improving religious pilgrimage experience. Our church creed is Freedom is Universal. Three years ago our multi-generational family decided to go on an adventure. We had talked about moving to the woods for years, but finally decided to turn our dreams into reality. After hiking through what felt like every property for sale over 100 acres in North Georgia, North Carolina, and Tennessee, we finally found the perfect spot.
Why do we call our property Whippoorwill Woods? Did you know that whippoorwills don’t nest in trees? They lay their eggs on the ground in the forest. They’re birds that love camping! As soon as we heard the whippoorwills start singing in the spring, we knew it was the perfect name.
We’re so excited to share our property with campers who love nature as much as we do. We specifically set up the campsites to give as much privacy as possible. We hope you’ll come visit and soak up the bird songs, the wind in the trees, and the beautiful sunsets over the mountains. We have 20 acres of savannah grassland full of native plants and wildflowers and over 80 untouched acres full of awesome rock formations and creeks with waterfalls available for you to hike. There's a stocked fish pond for catch and release fishing and a gorgeous view overlooking the Cumberland Plateau and the Sherwood Valley.
Experienced and beginner campers are welcome! We live on one side of the property, so we’re available to assist (setting up tents for the first few times is no joke!) or we’re happy to give you as much space and solitude as you need. We have three campsites available in the native savannah grassland, and one that is a "hike-in and choose your favorite spot in the woods" site. We have a porta-potty available, but if you're hiking in, you'll want to bring some WAG bags with you. If you have any questions, or if there’s anything we can do to help, don’t hesitate to ask!

Our grandparents moved to the farm on Little Crow Creek on September 27, 1927 from up in Sinking Cove. They had six children with our dad, Charlie Jr., being one of them.
Charlie Stubblefield Sr. was a very interesting man with a wide curiosity in just about anything that had to do with history, Indian artifacts, Civil War, fossils, oral history, religion and more.
Therefore, the small museum on the property next to the pavilion is dedicated to our grandfather.
Charlie Sr. and our grandmother served as Justices of the Peace for over 30 years. Further, our grandmother was the backbone of the family, and was a gracious lady with a special personality to handle the rigors of the day; we miss them both very much.
The area has many interesting stories and legacies of characters of yesterday and today.

Rodger’s property was just lovely! It was exactly as described. He was a very responsive and personable host, who clearly wants people to feel comfortable and happy at the site. It’s a small and quaint campsite, if you are looking for something not as big as an RV park or giant state park. The campsites are quite big and spread apart, so you don’t feel like you’re on top of each other. I definitely recommend staying here if you’re in the area.

We loved tent camping on the farm. Easy to get to, Janna was so nice and happy and welcoming when I called her to let her know we arrived, there were so many cute farm animals! There was pretty much always at least one animal by our tent site at all times, even at night you would see their shawdows walking by and hear them munching on grass. The tent site had plenty of room to spread out and it felt private, and it was near the bathroom. If you want to literally be in the middle of a farm, this is the place to do it!

We loved this site. It has everything you’d want in a perfect campsite. Horses, running water, a fully stocked kitchen, secure and private bath/shower, creeks and trails, multiple fire pits, cute fluffy kitty, electricity. We were so impressed with the custom touches and clever functionality of the kitchen and cabin. Perfect for a group. Oh… and bonus points for the tether ball.

It is a beautiful, serene place to camp for the night. We weren't there long enough to enjoy all they had to offer but we walked the land and enjoyed every step. Directions to River Ranch were clear and concise. Doni was a very good host, explaining everything clearly and graciously opened his land for us to explore. My dog and I enjoyed it very much and felt safe there!
