The cabin sits in the middle of a ten-acre property adjacent to the Talladega National Forest. It is located eight miles north of the small town of Heflin, Alabama, which is about an hour and a half from the metro areas of Birmingham, Alabama, and Atlanta, Georgia.
Off a small county road, a private half-mile gravel road leads to the property’s end. The cabin is surrounded by hundreds of square miles of forest. To the west, directly behind the cabin, there are over nine miles of continuous forest before reaching a hard-top road, and beyond that, over six miles to the next road. To the north, there are over sixty miles of continuous forest to the next road. Pinhoti Trailheads are nearby.
The ten acres is mostly forested, and all surrounding properties are similarly wooded. The back side of the property is bordered by a year-round creek. There are two open meadows, one of which is a pawpaw orchard.
Trails and a covered pavilion are located down by the creek. In season, you can enjoy blueberries, blackberries, and muscadines. Because the property is so remote—and because the surrounding areas adhere to International Dark Sky standards—you can enjoy spectacular stargazing on clear nights.

You will be blown away by the mountain and creek views. A hiking path leads up to an overlook with a swing — the perfect spot to enjoy your morning coffee and watch the sunrise. Visit Gadsden (~35 minutes) to explore Noccalula Falls Park, especially beautiful with Christmas lights, or Fort Payne (~an hour) to explore Little River Canyon and Desoto Falls.

It is 20.54 acres peacefully located between big land owners on each side, and a creek that runs through the middle that separates north from south pieces. Our trails are groomed and some just deer worn. We have one camp site that is rural and rustic. There is a bucket for the restroom and antique, old white kitchen sink for hand washing just outside it. There is no running water yet, but working on getting a water reservoir out there asap. No electricity yet a single power cord could be run for extra $10.00 for your visit. There is a fire pit close to the tent spot on, “Skip’s Campsite”.
Another camp site” Aqua-Fine-A” that has a walk in creek access, and you have to cross the creek to get to that one. It is farther away from “Skip’s bathroom access. It has a more established flag stone fire pit. It is our original primitive sight. There is no water reservoir or possibility of electricity at “Aqua-Fine-A” campsite. Everything must be packed in and out on foot.
Both sights require a hike to campsites on foot with uneven rooted trails. {You are welcome to use our well loved red wheelbarrow to haul items in}.
There is access to a bigger fire pit “M & M fire pit”, and a propane grill option (this is first come first serve/sharing spot).
More campsites developing over time and there is a massage practitioner on site if you are looking for the whole experience (29 years experience in healing modalities and shamanic blood line).
If you are looking to experience nature cabin style then, “The Minor Escape” is for you. This has a full refrigerator, full stand up filtered water shower, kitchen sink, separate master, two bedroom lofts with ladder access, kitchen sink, ceiling fans, window a/c units for summer and space heaters for winter (Eden pure heater that shows fireplace flames).
Our family loves this land and there is always new areas being cultivated in various spots. You will see us out there either with our hobby farm of animals, gardening or building a new area. I am a teacher, guide, artist, and healer. This land is sacred and magical. It is used to heal, restore, inspire and rejuvenate many locally and internationally.

Dustin's land is absolutely beautiful. We camped at FF3 hollow (yurt), it was well secluded and has a waterfront. This was an amazing experience! Only downfall I would warn future guests is, there is a hike down to the camp sites. As someone not in shape, it took my breath away each time we had to hike back up to the parking area. We will most definitely return but we will not be camping at the bottom of the hill next time.

We had an amazing time camping here! It was a wonderful and new experience for both of us — being without clothes truly helped us connect with nature in a beautiful way. Dustin was so kind and welcoming the entire time, and everyone there made us feel like part of a big family. We will definitely be coming back!

I always look forward to my Parksland trips! This was the first time I did yurt camping and the bed was so comfy!
They were hosting a Fall Equinox Celebration, so there were plenty of fun activities included like morning yoga, a bonfire, a sauna session, and a cacao drink ceremony by the fire. The shower was so relaxing!
Tip: Just remember, if you haul something down the hill, you have to haul it back up.

I have stayed at Parksland before. This was my first time staying in the cabin. Everyone is very friendly and welcoming. The cabin was cozy, although we spent most of our time at the camp center listening to music and enjoying the sauna. The trail from the parking spot to the cabin is relatively short, so it doesn't take you long to get your stuff there. Everyone, from the host to the other guests, was very friendly. We packed our own battery-operated fans, which is something I'd recommend during the warmer months. The cabin to the swimming hole has very direct access as well. You'll enjoy any of the sites on the land, but if you need something enclosed, the cabin works for that. Very welcoming location all around. Anyone who doesn't emphasize love and respect likely wouldn't be allowed back by the host.

Just the kind of chill weekend I was looking for. Definitely be prepared to see the nude human form and to climb lots of hills.
Just the fact that I could show up and not have to set up my own tent and it had a simple but comfortable bed was super nice.
Also met a lot of nice folks some of whom are regular guests. I will be making a trip back next time I need to recharge.

Weekend Trip to Parksland Retreat
I spent the weekend at FF1 after reading the website and knew it was right for me. First off, Dustin Parks is a genuine, welcoming guy who makes everyone feel at home. But what he’s created is so much more than just campsites in the woods it’s a true sanctuary to unplug, be free, and connect.
Deep in the forest, you can camp privately or meet others in common areas. It’s very clothing-optional I fully embraced it and found it freeing and equalizing. No judgment, just real conversations and acceptance.
Dustin has built an experience an enchanted forest with creeks, swimming holes, and trails where you can feel nature’s energy as intended. I met amazing people within an hour and made real friends. I packed light just food, drinks, and basics everything else was ready.
Be prepared: it’s on a mountain, with steep paths to campsites, so you’ll get a workout! The only downside was leaving and putting clothes back on I felt like I was leaving a piece of freedom behind.
Dustin didn’t just create a getaway he built a place to remember what really matters: people, nature, and kindness. I’ll be back and will support ParksLand Retreat however I can. Go careless, go open-minded, and feel free.

Weekend Trip to Hardwoods Campground
This was my first time at a campground as unique and freeing as hardwood camp. I enjoyed every aspect of my weekend from the outdoor shower, to the lit walking trails. It's a one of a kind experience that you can absolutely see the attention to detail that Jeremy put into this place.
