It was awesome! Know what you are getting into though. This is bare bones, don't expect luxury amenities. What you're getting is some distance between you and the city. And a great view of the stars. This is all about the nighttime sky. The tent is WELL protected from the wind and cold. Tent comes with a few items like a lamp, a space heater, book with local information. A bench outside, a table and two chair inside the tent. Its lovely.

Bad entry lock and loud trains

I was very disappointed that I had to sit in the dirt to open a cheap lock. I was given the wrong combination and when I called the owner, he didn't even know the exact numbers. I kept guessing until I got it right and it opened. Also, bring ear plugs. The trains nearby are frequent and LOUD. They woke us up every time one passed. Bed was nice and comfy and inside was clean. They need to get a different kind of lock and have it at top of zippers. Not at the bottom in the dirt

Camping under the stars.

Great spot! Tent had everything we needed including bedding, pillows, a cute little table and chairs. GPS took us in on a mile long goat path. Not sure a car would make it in but we found a much better route out. Very secluded and private. The stars at night were amazing. Really enjoyed it.

Best view of the stars

The tent is immaculate, so clean and tidy! The bed was unbelievably comfortable and the pillows were great! It looked like the portable toilet was also just cleaned so it didn’t smell at all and was stocked with plenty of TP. The hammock was my husband’s favorite. The view of the stars was incredible! There’s no shade in the area, but we got there late enough that the heat of the day was almost over. We were surprisingly chilly at night but there are plenty of extra blankets and a sleeping bag. Petrified forest is so close that we were able to start our day early and spend more time at the park.

Kept us dry in the rain

It poured the night we were staying in the canvas tent but it kept us dry! Also, since there were 4 of us, 2 cots were set up in addition to the small bed that slept two. That was a nice surprise. Sleeping in the cots was like, well, sleeping in a cot. There was a light hanging from the ceiling and a little table with two chairs as well. Very cute!

Absolutely love this spot will definitely be coming back! Super open and private land with beautiful view of the stars! We unfortunately we in the middle of 3 massive storms and the lodging stood its ground and kept us dry all night long! In addition, due to the rain it killed by car battery and the following morning the host was so kind and drove out and helped us out with a jump! Love this camp sight and hosts!

Wonderfully peaceful place

We loved our stay at tent 3 and the hosts were so great and responded back to use when we had questions or concerns. Loved exploring the land around the site and even spotted a lizard while we were walking our dog. We would definitely stay again!

Fun spot

Easy access, comfortable, dark sky. My teen son really liked how it was remote but not too much. Although he was at first creeped out by the maybe abandoned trailer and house not far away. We loved it

Group trip ·

This was a perfect place to stay for our visit to Petrified forest. It was clean and comfy. We enjoyed a fire under the stars-bring your own firewood! There are 3 tents so perfect for a group, we only used one tent and no one else was there so it was very peaceful and quiet. I hate portajohns but it was the cleanest porta john I've ever been in and was pleasant to use-no nose holding. We would stay here again.

Such a fun experience! Beautiful sunsets! If you plan to adventure here in the colder months, bring lots of layers but overall would definitely recommend! Simple set up but comfy!

Great view. Good built and a secure tent. Easy signage and amenity access. There is a train horn that is heard (lightly) nearby into the night, so some sleepers may benefit from earplugs.

This listing is quite a few miles from the Petrified Forest. The tents are barely lit outside by very dim solar lights. The sign to indicate the turn into the property is faded and illegible. The whole thing seemed run down. We slept in our van and did not unlock a tent. Pretty pricey for what it is. Owner did answer the phone when we called to say we couldn’t find the property. He misdirected us to a wrong road, then remembered the correct road and we got back on track. Great view of stars.

The perfect night sky

Family of 5 with an RV and we absolutely loved this spot to give ourselves a little more room for a night. The kids thought the tent was SO cool. Quiet spot. We loved stargazing in the hammock and looking for lizards in the morning.

Clean spacious tent with a comfortable bed located very conveniently close to Hiway 40, yet very quiet. The landscape is completely desolate, but the stargazing was great. All told a perfectly decent place to stay for a night.

You should try

I liked our experience on Tent 3. The night was cold and the inside of the tent stayed practically at the same temperature as outside. We found that a little unpleasant but overall we have to accept it is a different but great experience. The night sky was not as we would have liked as it the moon shone in the sky. Still, I would come back!

The yurt was cozy and the bed comfortable! The outhouse was clean and not a far walk. The views, sunrise and sunset, were incredible! Everything was well maintained! A local truck stop was perfect for laundry and showering.

Great spot right by the Petrified Forest NP. Simple, with nice little touches like the lighting and the heater. The yurts are a nice size for 1-2 people. I had poor weather later on but was more than happy to cosy up in the yurt.

What a great stay! Easy to find, beautiful area. So scenic and remote, perfect for viewing stars. Tent had a bed with pillows, sheets, a heater, and other various goods. Would definitely recommend!

We loved the landscape, quiet and night sky at Starlight’s land. We slept in our camper, but she has provided a comfy tent setup for those who want that. If you like off the beaten path, wide open spaces and solitude - I would recommend!
