Ben Lomond Station is an 1800 acre working cattle station 25 minutes south of Bowen and 35 minutes north of Airlie Beach on the Whitsundays. We border onto Eden Lassie Creek which has tidal ocean access for saltwater fishing and there is an abundance of estuary fishing and crab spots available. We are a nature based camping area. Cleared shady camping spots are available for fully self contained campers as there are currently no facilities available so you must have own camping toilet and leave no trace. Access to the camping area is for 4WD only with caravans off road and high clearance. Firewood is available for a small fee or you can collect any fallen timber yourself. There is a ban on cutting down any standing timber even it is dead. There is plenty of room to run for the kids and dogs though we do ask that your pet not annoy our cattle or other campers. Ben Lomond station has an abundance of flora and fauna such as burdekin plum trees, mango trees, wallabies, kangaroos and bird and fish species.

This spot has close access to the main fishing spot. It has a camp fire area and is a good area for you relax in the shade, while they are fishing. Historically this great spot had a shade cloth hut, this has now been removed to allow campers access to set up their dream camp properly.  Please note - the price is per person per night plus GST, plus the Hipcamp service fee. Gum Tree Flat is directly adjacent to the fishing area and bend in the river. A couple of majestic gum trees surround the spot and there is always a breeze blowing in this shady area. It is a cleared, flat grassy site with stone surround campfire. It is 5 minutes drive from the estuary creek area. This area is for self contained campers as there are no toilet, shower or wash facilities available. This shady cleared spot is near a beautiful Burdekin Plum tree. Direct access to the estuary creek. Cleared shady camping spot available for fully self contained campers. Short walk to the estuary creek fishing area to put a crab pot in the creek. This camp has a fantastic view of Ben Lomond mountain and has a level area surrounding for a group game of cricket and is a short drive to the main fishing area.  This camp is complete with a campfire area and shady cabbage gums, there is always a breeze and you will definitely enjoy your stay. Guests must be self contained with their own toilet and shower facilities and must take all grey water waste/rubbish with them on departure.  Campfires permitted in the fire pits provided. Camp 6 Cattle Camp has been created for all wheel drive vehicles towing the average caravan. It is situated 3 minutes walk from the lagoon in the centre of Ben Lomond Station. It has a great view and has an abundance of bird life on the lagoon. It does not have direct access to the fishing area. If you wish to go fishing you will need a high clearance four wheel drive and it takes 5 minutes to drive to get there. Very quiet and true bush camping

We loved the quiet and really enjoyed the cattle (especially the tiny calves ) birdlife and fishing. Saw pheasant coucal for the first time and a pair of brolga. Lots of birdsong for any birdwatchers out there. 😊

I only stopped in for a night heading North and again heading South but could have easily spent week if time allowed. Rob and Colleen were super welcoming. The camp sites are kept in great condition and a peaceful place with stunning sunsets and rises.

Absolutely loved our short stay at Ben Lomond Station. Sites are well spread out and relatively private. Colleen is very accomodating, and checked in on us! Fishing and crabbing on tap. Cant wait to return!!

Site 11 Grass tree camp
Colleen was so so accommodating! Our spot was a short safari trek to get to, but so worth it. Serene, peaceful and private. Right by the river, we fished all afternoon with two good bream on the lines. Heaps of mud crabs too! Afternoon and early morning the cattle walked through our camp and with all the cute calves on ground at the moment, it was lovely. Wallabies and birds all around. Be snake aware, we saw a brown but he moved on quickly. Absolutely love this beautiful place.

We had an absolutely relaxing time at Ben Lomond station. We will definitely be back again. Loved seeing the cattle walking past every afternoon. Fishing & crabbing was good. Just wish we had a longer stay.

Lovely camp, the sites are very spread out over the property and no one is in sight, making it feel like your own. Perfect location for day trips out from Bowen to Airlie, definitely recommend.

We always love staying here, this was our first time in camp 2 and won’t be our last, it’s tucked away a little from the tracks between camps which meant no passing traffic and the site was huge, the fireplace was perfectly positioned to maximize the sunset and views Thanks Rob & Colleen, no doubt we will see you again soon!

Site 3 Teatree Camp
We booked for 5 days with friends & their van in Camp 3. It's great that each camp is separate from the others, so there's plenty of room and privacy. Each site was really well mown with a very sizeable fire pit at each. The birdlife and wildlife is amazing. We even had wallaby and pottaroo in our camp at times. There was a long drop loo not too far from our camp site. You definitely need a 4WD and off road van and to take it really slowly. The track in is all dirt from the front gate. It's a few klms long and pretty rough. Could do with a grade. We've stayed on a number of working cattle stations, so we were not expecting a smooth ride, but a bit of maintenance would be appreciated. The wind was crazy during our stay. Most campers were considerate driving past others, but a few could learn etiquette. The full moon (with magnificent blood moon lunar eclipse) was spectacular, but it did bring monster tides which meant on the day of departure we planned to leave a few hours before the top of the tide, but still had to go through salt water puddles in the creek crossings. For the price we paid per night, and comparable hipcamps in the region, we probably did expect more. But it was an enjoyable and peaceful stay.

Another peaceful stay at Rob and Colleen’s perfect Hipcamp. This is the 6th time we have stayed here over the last few years and it’s always a favourite of ours for the privacy, peace, and fun fishing (but unfortunately tides were not in our favour this last trip). If you want a great ‘bush camping’ experience so close to the beautiful beaches of Bowen then don’t go past Ben Lomond.

Nice big well maintained sites. Heaps of space for the little kids to ride their bikes and a safe distance away from the river. We had lots of fun putting in the crab pots (didn’t catch any keepers).

Had a great couple of days at site 1 at Ben Lomond. We have stayed here several times over the past few years and it never fails to disappoint. Clean campsites spaced well enough apart to give you complete privacy and the fishing in the tidal creek was good fun as usual.

Great little spot, we took our new 22ft caravan for its maiden voyage, was a great spot, we day tripped into Airlie beach and done some shopping and went out for lunch, then returned to camp and sat around the fire, the cool night was clear and the sky full of stars, it was beautiful.
