This campsite provides a great location to use as a base for day hikes. The tent site is situated beneath a canopy of two large Red Oak trees. This property was formerly a farm and has since grown back to a pioneer Hardwood Forest. There are stone rows throughout the farm and some areas that have been cleared of invasive vegetation and planted with native grasses to enhance the deer population. We suggest day hikes such as Catfish Fire Tower, Van Campen's Glen, and Buttermilk Falls. Here's a list of our recommendations for hiking, fishing, and just plain old exploring: The Delaware Water Gap National Recreational Area (DWG) and nearby Walpack Fish and Wildlife Management Area in Layton have many hiking trails (See the National Park Service's website). Great areas for sightseeing, hiking, biking, fishing, hunting. Buttermilk Falls, (trailhead on) Mountain Road in Layton. Hike to the top of the beautiful waterfalls near Walpack and take a 6.8 mile loop trail to Crater Lake. Walpack Inn, National Park Service Rd 615, Layton. A beautiful restaurant with an entire back wall of windows with a view of the Kittatinny Valley. The Walpack is open on weekends for dinner only. Appalachian Trail (AT). Check out the AMC Mohican Outdoor Center located along the trail in Blairstown. The AT runs through the DWG. \ Long Pine Pond amp; Crater Lake in Walpack. Both are spring fed and great for swimming and boating (clear water). Van Campen's Glen, Old Mine Road, Hardwick. The 2.1 mile loop trail features several cascades and waterfalls, a narrow stone valley, and a lush hemlock ravine. Catfish Fire Tower, Millbrook Road, Hardwick. A rocky 2.0 or longer 4.4 mile hike to the top of the ridge. Great views on NJ and PA. Also check out "Hiking Our Preserves" on the Ridge and Valley Conservancy's website for information on 4 local hiking trails. Delaware River- Great for swimming, boating, tubing, canoeing, fishing. Keep your eye out for Bald Eagles! White Lake - 97 Stillwater Rd. Hardwick, NJ 07825. The Paulinskill (Blairstown) and FlatBrook (Old Mine Road, Hardwick) rivers are local spots for trout fishing. On Saturdays during the summer, you may want to try out the Blairstown Farmers Market on Stillwater Road. Hours 9:30 to 1:00 pm.The tent site is situated beneath a canopy of two large Red Oak trees. Perfect peaceful green getaway spot

I had the most wonderful time at twin oaks! The site is perfect, nice elevated clear platform to pitch the tent, it would easily fit 2 tents. The large boulders set up around both the tent site and the fire pit are really ingenious. My favorite thing about the site was the fire pit. I was able to keep a fire going the entire time I was there, and one of the greatest things is that a full load of firewood was available as soon as I got there. And the tools for maintaining the fire were a really nice touch too! The surroundings are green and peaceful, and my pup and I really enjoyed just being able to unplug, and soak in the beautiful sounds and sights this unique and lovely property. Please remember to bring work gloves or use the tongs provided to get your firewood from the wood pile as wood piles are favorite spots for spiders,! Having a great cup of coffee and a really hearty breakfast fireside overlooking the beautiful meadow and woods was just plain good for my soul! I can't wait to visit again in the fall when the leaves are changing. Stephen and Carol are kind gracious hosts, their property is lovely, and it was a pleasure to meet Wally and Daphne! I would recommend having four-wheel or all-wheel drive to get up the hill to the campsite, but its seclusion is what makes it so perfect!

This was one of my favorite Hipcamps I’ve stayed at! The campsite is massive, very private, and peaceful. We loved the huge fire pit and firewood being provided was a huge plus! The hosts were very kind & explained to us how to get to the campsite since we arrived after dark. Definitely want to come back here in the future!

We had such a lovely two-night stay! 🏕️✨ The campsite was peaceful, private, and exactly the little escape we needed. It was so nice having our own space to relax, slow down, and enjoy being surrounded by nature. Everything felt cozy and easy, and we left wishing we could stay just one more night!! Definitely a sweet little spot for a quiet getaway!

Excellent campsite. Nicely laid out campfire out and tent site up on a hill in the middle of the woods. Stephen is a great host. Highly recommend for exploring the Delaware Water Gap Natl Recreation Area.

I had a wonderful time camping at this site. Located close to essentials and several amazing hikes you really get the best of it all. The site itself is very secluded up on top of a hill with a nice area to put tents. Would most certainly come back

Really nice property, quiet and the campsite feels isolated enough yet not too far from the host home so that we were able to get any help we needed if we had questions. We felt both welcomed and undisturbed. Stephen is very sweet, would stay again. The campsite was exactly as pictured in other reviews. Could easily fit two 8x10 tents. Super spacious. Was also nice to walk about the property.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Twin Oaks. Stephen and Carol are amazing and gracious hosts. Their property offers great amenities and is a fantastic launching point for great hiking, eateries and wineries. Best Hipcamp we have visited!! 5⭐️➕You are close to the Delaware Water Gap. A must hike is Van Campens Glen.

We loved camping here (even in the rain)! Our kids had a blast climbing the big rocks around the firepit, and the trees on the land were beautiful. The campsite provided the perfect amount of privacy while containing everything we needed (flat spot for our tent, a picnic table, and a pit toilet a short walk away). Thanks for a wonderful stay. We hope to be back soon!

Beautiful property. Stephen’s a great host. Made sure we had everything we needed for a great outdoor experience. Great spot to be close to the Appalachian trail. My brothers and I hiked the Delaware water gap and stayed here. It was a great experience and would recommend to anyone looking for a wonderful outdoor experience

Beautiful, quiet and secluded site. Lovely, respectful, warm hosts who make you feel welcome and then leave you alone 😊. Plenty of wood, water, and a nice outdoor toilet. Lots of hiking in the immediate area - and a hammock for a blissful afternoon nap.

I loved tent camping on Steven's property! There was a perfect space cleared out to set up tents. The fire pit was already partially lit and the site had plenty of chopped wood for us to use. Water for cleaning hands/dishes was provided. The outhouse was clean and provided just enough privacy. There was a large cozy hammock and trees for us to hang our own hammocks. The property was large enough to walk around and explore. Although the owners had a house on the property, it was far enough away to not feel like you're in someone's backyard. Would camp here again.

It was exactly what we needed. It was peaceful. It was beautiful and it was everything that was promised. It seems like we had a fire going the whole time that we were there. Stephen couldn’t have been nicer. He came by one day mid morning to check on us and to restock the area. Had a very nice conversation. He was genuinely interested in our trip and wanted to make sure that we had a great time. At the same time while we had a full and complete conversation with him, he didn’t stay too long nor did we feel that his visit was ever unwelcome. We’ll definitely be back.

Really great campsite and having wood included was an extra plus! Stephen was very kind and showed us exactly where to go upon arrival as we got in a little late. The other reviewers are correct as long as you have AWD (or 4WD), you’ll have no problem heading up the hill to camp. Loved the firepit area - it was just my boyfriend and I, but would be really nice for a group of people sitting around the fire. We chose tenting in the dry, dirt area so if you plan to do that instead of the grass, make sure you have some padding as it’s very rocky. Pit toilet area was well maintained too. Would definitely visit again!

We loved the space, it's secluded and private in a beautiful, serene clearing. The fireplace is large and everything is set up for a nice bbq session. The surroundings are worth visiting, there are great trails for hiking and biking, a winery and great shops for fresh groceries. A lot of things we didn't have time to explore, so we'll be back.

This was our first time using a campsite from HipCamp. Steven was so nice to book from. The location was great and very secluded. Firewood was provided as well. The nicest part was the double hammock which was so relaxing. I would totally book here again.

Wow! This hipcamp was an absolute gem, completely private and secluded. The weather was a little wet but the host made sure we had enough firewood to last us our stay. I would recommend having AWD if it is wet as the hill to the site is rocky and a bit muddy but we had no problem in our Forester.

Super quite and private location, close to town and the AT. Well stocked wood and nice set up for a single tent under the trees and beside the fire pit or a small trailer in the attached field. Stephen was great, will definitely come back!!
