Weekend Trip to Beech Estate Campsite

Tranquille camping spot in the beautiful woods. My allocated pitch was very secluded and perfect a weekend break away from the concrete jungle. Check in was easy and informative, pre ordered logs and firefighters at reception for me to collect. Plenty of large wheelbarrows to ferry equipment to the pitch. Yellow trail walk was closed promptly informed via email and given two alternative routes. I am a female solo camping and felt safe at all times. Would thoroughly recommend.

Lovely setting in the woods. Nice and calm, clean toilet facilities. Great bucket shower (who’d have thought!). Lovely walk from the pitch to Battle town. Would visit again.

Weekend Trip to Bridgewood Camping - Woodland camps

The wood is beautiful and peaceful. Paul gave us a warm welcome and showed us to our pitch. Each pitch has its own small enclosure so you feel like you have your own space. They have two adorable pigs. Bring cash! - they have a lovely little hut that sells firewood, kindling and small pots of their own honey. They also have wagons to borrow so you can wheel your stuff to your pitch.

Wonderful hospitality and a beautiful site. Myself, my wife and daughter backpacked into Hook Farm from London for a two night break. We were warmly greeted on arrival by Megan. We wandered round the site to select our pitch. Lots of choice, beautiful scenery, woodland and green grass. The natural and environmentally friendly ethos here is evident and refreshing. Some slopes to be aware of but entirely manageable; good to arrive on the earlier side to have the best choice. We enjoyed a wonderful Sunday lunch at the Fox. The owner, (my apologies for not recalling your name!) is a true gentleman and perfect host. I was looking for the easiest way to walk to the shop for a few food bits, he stopped his vehicle to enquire as to whether I needed assistance, we then had a lovely half hour chat about all sorts of things. 5th generation farmer, the 6th generation stopped by also! Genuine hospitality and friendly, warm people who care about what they do. I thoroughly enjoyed my conversation, followed the cross country directions and had a fabulous walk to the shop, then again later with family to the Fox. We loved our experience and stay at Hook Farm. A gem of a place and made to feel very welcome. A treat to find a rural site that is simple yet beautiful without artificial noise and with just the right, simple facilities for a recharge.

Absolutely loved my trip here! Campsite was peaceful really well maintained. Bar and restaurant area was amazing and all the staff were really friendly and attentive. Managed to get myself a fresh pizza from the restaurant and eat it back at camp. Would absolutely stay here again!

Decent campsite. Been there a couple of times. Looks like right hand will be allocated to caravans only and left hand will be with electric. Last year had some birds and few animals around... Looks like have been removed, probably taking a lot of time to look after. I'll definitely come back again this year... Lovely staff... decent facilities.

Weekend Trip to Bridgewood Camping - Woodland camps

We went here for a few days over the bank holiday. We loved it. We had our own space out in the woods with composting a toilet close by. There was water available and a beautiful woodland to sit and build our camp fire and chill listening to the wildlife. The tawny owl hooting away added to the authenticity of being out with nature. I loved it and we will return. A great stay and a great location for those who want to appreciate nature and tranquility :) Thanks both

Beuatiful location and wonderful hosts! When we checked in, we were shown around and got to choose our pitch. The tracks are nicely led and the trollies provided made unloading everything so much easier! The toilets are better than most composting toilets and have loo roll provided. The honey is a great extra to purchase, so make sure you bring some cash! Would highly recommend!

Great place to camp! We had such a good time and the bar is brilliant on the weekends! Very dog friendly. We had the river right behind out pitch and the dogs loved it! Not somewhere to go if you’re looking for somewhere quiet on the weekend though😂

Planned a last minute camp, and glad I chose this campsite. The check in was straightforward and the instructions and information was clear. Plenty of space to choose your pitch, toilets are very clean and had all the amenities I needed.

Nice little campsite with all the amenities we required, everything worked well and had a nice shower. The ground has quite a lot of stones so make sure you bring your hammer. Great location, beautiful setting in the rolling hills and Chris was attentive and helpful.

Lots of bird life around, with feeders outside each hut and waterfowl visitors to the lakes.When it comes to eats, pick up or have supplies delivered from supermarkets or takeaways in Uckfield, Heathfield or Crowborough or take a drive to Buxted Park for some posh food or pubs in Blackboys, Crowborough, Ringles Cross, 5 Ash Down, Rotherfield, or Buxted (it'll take about 10 minutes to drive to any of these). The Coastal Path will take you along the coast to Durlston Country Park, Dancing Ledge and Winspit. The deserted village of Tyneham and its own bay is a short drive away, then follow the scenic road over the Ranges to Lulworth and Durdle Door. Local attractions include Monkey World and Bovington Tank Museum, and a walk through the RSPB bird sanctuary at Arne to Poole Harbour is recommended.

This low-impact, off-grid campsite is set within a working permaculture fruit and herb farm, with a small flock of sheep that are helping restore a wildflower meadow. There is a strip of woodland at the top of my field where you can escape summer heat under the trees and put up hammocks or hammock tents. I am offering only two pitches at any one time (up to 6 people per pitch). Each pitch has their own fire pit at the top of the field near the woodland, with camping lower on the slope nearer to shower unit and compost toilet. Each pitch also has its own compost toilet tent in the woodland, near the fire. Should the weather be uncertain there is the option of renting the group tent in addition to fire and camping areas, the group tent has a yoga deck/ flat outside area and can be used for sleeping or hanging out. Up on the top field we can open the horsebox as a field shelter/ field kitchen at a small extra cost, great for keeping food and camp cookers in when your are off exploring the beaches and surrounds. There are stunning far-reaching views form the fire pits and even more stunning views of Rye Bay, a short walk away on Mountain Field or at the Balehouse -which is the info centre and cafe of the Hastings Country park. Nature and the species I'm surrounded by are paramount, such as butterflies, wildflowers and birds. The whole site is full of birdsong, especially up near the woodland by the fire pits. At night you get clear views of the stars and my favourite thing is to wake up in the morning in the summer, seeing the dew on the grass, connecting with natural peacefulness and first rays of sun. In May the woodland and field are covered in bluebells and the blossom in the permaculture orchard is astounding. Do bring a yoga mat at stretch first thing on the yoga deck! Please Note: This is a working farm so farmer and woofer(s) are on site, in areas that are not part of the camping facilities. Exclusive use refers to campsite areas not the entire farm. New option for 2024, exclusive rental of campsite area, £250 for up to 10 people, 5 extras at extra £20 a night! Why not meet friends and family on the field and enjoy the scenery over a fire, BBQ or giant cook out/ picnic. It's a very peaceful and natural spot, yet only 10 minutes drive away from the Old Town in Hastings with all the music, people and festivals that go on. It really is the best of both worlds and I'm happy to share it!
