Reconnect with nature, gently. Welcome to our low-impact, off-grid campsite nestled within a working permaculture fruit and herb farm. Here, a small flock of sheep graze as part of an ongoing project to restore a wildflower meadow. The land is alive with colour, birdsong and butterflies—and you’re invited to experience it at your own peaceful pace. 🌿 Space to breathe Only two pitches are available at any time (up to 8 people per pitch). Each pitch has: Private fire pit overlooking wide countryside views PLEASE NOTE the fire pits are on the top of the field near the woodland edge. Camping area (with views) on the lower slope near the shower and main compost toilet Retreat into the woodland strip at the top of the field—perfect for hammocks, hammock tents, shade in summer, quiet chats and listening to the wind through the trees. Oak Rock - is a level site (between a rock and an oak tree!) that hosts up to 8 people - there are stunning views to wake up to and comes with its own - Fire pit - located at the top of the field by the woodland. There will only ever be two groups on the field camping, each with their own fire area. The firepit area is perfect for cooking and staying up with a campfire, on a clear night you can see the milky way and zillions of stars. There is always the option of renting the horsebox as a field kitchen/ shelter - also a large 4 x 6 m group tent, as weather back up or simply to hang out or sleep in. Just get in touch with the owner - you can add this last minute if you need it. We are an off grid site so there is a compost toilet and a shower cubical, which can operate with your own shower bag , though there is a camp water pump shower head if preferred. Each fire pit has a woodland compost toilet tent, which is a more sustainable option to use alongside the compost toilet unit and nearer the fire. If you have a larger group you can rent both pitches, the maximum amount of campers in a large group is 20 people. Just rent exclusive use (for 10 people) and then add additional guests, or get in touch with the owner for a group rate, depending on how many nights you stay.....

Wander beneath the trees, listen to the birds or watch bats near the woodland, or sit with a hot drink as the stars rise. This is camping the way it should be—peaceful, simple, and entirely yours. A spacious group tent is available to hire separately, perfect for hanging out, for shade during hot days, or shelter when the weather turns. Our location sits on a charming, working farm. The owner may visit to tend to plants, harvest produce or care for the sheep—real countryside life, unfolding gently around you. You’ll receive a farm gate key, allowing your group to come and go freely by vehicle. While the sheep field, barns and orchard are off-limits, you’re welcome to enjoy the woodland hammocks, open spaces, yoga deck and fire circles. Take home a taste of the farm—homemade jam, fresh fruit and chutney are available to purchase. Please note: campers bring their own drinking water. This pitch sleeps 10 and has far reaching views. It comes with its own firepit further up the slope. Need to chill and unwind? Small Meadow Campsite gives you lots of space - There are never more than 2 groups/ 16 people on the site and if you hire the whole space (exclusive use) it will only be your people! The pitch is in the camping field and all campers are welcome to relax in an area of the woodland - in the hammocks. This is an off grid campsite with a compost toilet and basic off-grid shower. Beaches a short drive away... Pett Level, Rye Harbour, Fairlight Glen, Hastings and St Leonards beaches... Hastings County Park a short walk away. At the moment firewood is included.

The location is amazing, with a great little family run cafe just 10 mins walk away (coastguards cafe), and it’s perfectly located for Fairlight Glen beach, or heading up into Hastings/St Leonard’s. Anna sent super helpful instructions before we arrived but it was all a little confusing in practice. The listing notes there’s only two pitches available (which was our main motivation for choosing this site), but there were three groups including us on the Saturday, including some staying in the tipi tent right next to the firepit area that was allocated to our pitch, which then made it feel slightly odd to go and use that, so we stayed by our tents. The site has a new toilet block, which is great, but the rest of the site is extremely run down. There’s lots of old chairs, tables and other Bric a brac somewhat strewn around everywhere (most of which is rusted/unusable) and shared areas like the white tent have really mouldy seats so also aren’t particularly usable. It feels like the site could quite easily be made really nice, but it does feel somewhat junkyard like. From the listing I got the impression the site was larger and more secluded than it is, where in practice you’ll be side by side with another group if both pitches (and maybe more?) are booked. Overall it did just feel like we paid £130 to stay in a field for 2 nights, which is extortionate compared to other listings on Hipcamp. You definitely need a huge group to make it worthwhile.

Laid back feel with facilities fashioned using mostly reclaimed materials - felt very eco sensitive (if that’s a phrase) and a pleasant antidote to some bigger “holiday park” style sites. On my own in the field - plus the rabbits, birds and foxes - in my camper. Lovely sunset and then a dramatic thunder storm at around 1am! A little unnerving but a cool experience. Anna suggested a swim at Pett Level and I took her advice and had a lovely dip this morning before heading back to the Cotswolds. ☺️

We felt very lucky to be able to stay on Anna’s farm. It’s a beautiful, peaceful place with wonderful views. There’s an orchard and some very pretty sheep! We enjoyed the hammocks in the woods and the firepit. Would definitely recommend.

Exclusive hire, group camping!

We booked the site for private hire and it was the perfect place for a long weekend with a big group; Anna was a lovely, friendly and responsive host and we enjoyed her recommendations for places to visit in the area. The woodland area with hammocks was a lovely relaxing spot with much welcome shade. Would recommend Hastings old town, Pett Level beach and Rock-a-more beach. Thanks again Anna!

We loved camping on Anna's land, the orchard was beautiful and we spent so much time around the fire. The shower and toilet were really useful and we loved the sheep who came to say hi in the morning! We had lots of campfires and walked to the coastguard cafe followed by the beach where we got to swim with a seal!! Highly recommend at least 2 nights and bring lots of lovely food for the fire which Anna has provided very useful grills to cook on! Would definitely camp here again :) Thanks!

We had a totally dreamy time on Anna’s land: Beautiful view of the Weald from the camp, star-gazing at night, and a very chilled time. Anna was attentive checking in daily by WhatsApp to make sure we were ok, but the perfect host in then leaving us to it! Recommend is - the views from the top of the hill overlooking the Channel (10 minute walk) - we saw France everyday! The site is well laid out, and very tranquil. We were blessed!

We had such a lovely time camping here. We had the whole place to ourselves - beautiful views, forest, a fire pit, rope swing, bluebells everywhere, walking distance to the beach. Amenities were more than I expected for a mostly off grid site - eco toilet and bucket shower. Anna was really helpful, suggesting walks and things to do. Couldn’t recommend more :)

Sarah has this beautiful oasis of peace where you can stay with your tent or RV. There is a compost toilet and shower available, as well as two fire pitches. All of this surrounds a small area where she grows various fruits and herbs. We were struck by her extreme kindness and hospitality; she knows how to make you feel at home.

We had such a fantastic time at Small Meadow Farm! This place is probably the best camping site in all of the southeast. It is ultra private with only two pitches on the campground. Both sites have a absolutely stunning view down the hillside of fields, forests and a small village. The site is also surrounded by mature trees, some are very tall pine trees which really adds to the camping feel. There is a great campfire setup on site 1 with logs to sit on and a bbq to cook on. There is also a farm on the site with apple trees and goats. Very pretty surroundings that made for the most relaxing stay. I have been recommending Small Meadow Farm to all our friends. The secret will get out soon!

Beautiful site! Anna was a great host! Amazing location… 5 minutes drive to the coast and surrounded by gorgeous countryside accessible within 5 minutes of waking. Perfect site for campers that want a secure site with the feel of wild camping. Looking forward to visiting again!
