Charlbury Rise Camping

20 units · Tents6 acres · Chipping Norton, England
Whether you’re heading to the Cotswolds for early August’s Wilderness Festival at Cornbury Park, the almost-endless walking options or simply a peaceful weekend escape, Charlbury Rise Camping, edging the pretty market town of Charlbury, covers all bases. There’s no fuss – just back-to-basics camping in the middle of lots of Cotswolds action, with the welcome addition of easy parking and rail access too. Bear in mind that this is off-grid camping with simple facilities: grass pitches, portable loos, fresh water and cold-water showers. Starry skies on clear nights and open space to unwind are added bonuses, but please note there is no electricity. Pitch up in the meadow set on a gentle rise, surrounded by ancient hedgerows and farmland, and you’ll wake up to birdsong, the sound of church bells in the distance and views over the rooftops of one of the Cotswolds’ most attractive market towns. From your pitch, wander into Charlbury (10 minutes’ walk) for supplies or a pint at one of the village pubs, discover re-wilding woodland on strolls through Wychwood Forest, or take the short drive to Chipping Norton (15 minutes’ drive) and a certain very well-known farm shop. As well as attending gigs at the Wilderness Festival from your pitch (half an hour’s walk), a stay at Charlbury Rise Camping puts you in pole position for exploring the Cotswolds National Landscape. Historic Burford (20 minutes’ drive), with its combination of mellow-stone cottages and half-timbered houses, is popular for its antiques shops, while Stow-on-the-Wold (half an hour) centres on a vast market square surrounded by a labyrinth of lanes packed with indie boutiques and eateries. See how the other half once lived with a look around the Palladian mansion at Ditchley Park (10 minutes, guided tours by appointment only). Alternatively, spend the day discovering manicured gardens, strolling vast tracts of woodland and touring numerous historical displays at humongous and lavish Blenheim Palace (15 minutes), the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill. Those of you with a taste for the finer things in life have your pick of Michelin-starred Cotswold restaurants, gourmet pubs and a store filled with organic produce at Daylesford. And let’s not forget the (almost) obligatory visit to Diddly Squat.

Gwersyllt Rhos y Gallt Campsite

10 units · Motorhomes, Tents12 acres · Powys, Mid Wales
Guests to Rhos y Gallt describe the campsite as a little gem of a site - small, quite and tranquil with wonderful sunsets. The site can accommodate up to 5 caravans and 10 tents situated on a level 2 acre site within the beautiful rolling hills of Montgomeryshire in Mid Wales. There are hard standing pitches with electric hook-up as well as grass pitches with and without electric hook-up. There is also a field bordering a river which is used for wild camping - but you'll have to share it with the sheep! The toilet block has a family wet room with shower, toilet, wash hand basin and baby changing unit, a separate toilet, shower and kitchen area with freezer. The site borders a river meadow where visitors can wonder down and take a walk down with the river bank, relax by the water edge, throw a few skimmers, do a spot of fishing or even go wild water swimming (at your own risk!). Well behaved dogs are welcome (maximum 2 per unit). We were delighted to receive a nomination for The Camping and Caravanning Club Best Hideaway Site in 2021 and grateful to our wonderful guests for the nomination.

Llandyfan Camping

29 units · Glamping, Motorhomes, Tents10 acres · England
Our beautiful home is a glamping and camping site with its own gorgeous fishing lake on the outskirts of the village of Llandyfan. You can find us to the west of the Brecon Beacons or Bannau Brycheiniog National Park. Llandyfan Campsite has been lovingly re-established in early 2024 by Andy and Jo. Since taking ownership, we have rolled up our sleeves and got stuck into restoring it to its former glory and will soon be back to being a fully operational slice of Welsh heaven. Our first focus has been the fishing lake which we opened in March. The campsite followed in May. We are currently working on electric hook ups and other improvements. We have chickens on site that roam free during the day. They are friendly and like to wander around the tents to say hello to our guests! We would like everyone who visits to have a great time and a relaxing break. Whilst here please be considerate towards others, to their property, and while using the facilities. If you have any concerns, please let us know. We have brought out a few rules from our T&Cs and we kindly ask that you have a read through before your stay. Litter: You must pick up your litter. Please either take it with you or recycle it appropriately in the bins onsite. There are bins around the campsite, please recycle where possible. Pitches to be left as you found them. Noise: Be respectful and consider your neighbours. Keep noise to a minimum after 10pm and before 8am in the morning. No loud music is to be played at any time. Children: Children must be supervised at all times around the campsite and can play within the pitch space allocated to you. At quiet times, it may be possible for children to use vacant pitches for play but this cannot be guaranteed. The amenity block and associated facilities are not to be used as a play area. Dogs: Must not to be left unattended. Are to be kept on leads at all times whilst on the campsite. (We are working on an enclosed dog walking area, however this is not yet available). no refunds on bookings if cancelled withing 10days of booking
