With a private valley, formed in the last ice age, acres of land and woodland to explore, our farm has a very special feeling which has been mentioned by every visitor. Occupied by some beautiful wildlife, including buzzards and owls, deer, badgers and foxes. The Wagons have a grass roof, firepits, sleep 4 (in double bunk format), they are hand-made from reclaimed materials salvaged from the local town and other areas, double skinned and insulated with sheeps wool. They have a 2-ring gas-burner in the cute kitchen area, dining table and seating, and are the perfect home away from home. All the decor is vintage, including cuttlery, crockery and even the childrens teddy's. Being on the doorstep of Dalby Forest, there are hours of entertainment to be had. You can follow the stream at the bottom of the valley to the River Derwent or venture into the surounding woods. We can provide a guest pass (free access) for Dalby Forest. The Wagons are not powered by electricity and are romantically lit by candles and oil lamps. Heated by cast iron gas heaters.

Scarborough Bay - Sea View Camping, a clifftop retreat on the North Yorkshire coast. Pitch up where you wish on this spacious 5 acre site. All the pitches face the coast so you can have spectacular views over the sea, in this case the North Sea to Scarborough (15 minutes’ drive), giving you a front-row seat on one of England’s most spectacular coastlines. Here you can wake to vibrant sunrises and on clear evenings to watch sunsets in the west. There’s plenty more going for this peaceful site as well: walkers will perk up on hearing that it’s right on the Cleveland Way National Trail, surfers can catch waves at popular Cayton Bay (five minutes’ drive), and families can head for Go Ape or scenic biking trails in Dalby Forest (40 minutes). There’s also a farm shop 15 minutes’ walk away where you can get a decent coffee and homemade food. There’s plenty of room so you’re free to pitch up where you wish. Well-behaved dogs are welcome, and barbecues or firepits are allowed as long as they’re raised off the ground to protect the grass. The camping area is exposed and can get windy at times, so take care when erecting tents and ensure everything is well secured. Facilities are simple: chemical toilets and a water supply. The water supply is from the mains but we recommend bottled water for drinking to be safe. There are no showers on site. Solar showers can be bought on-line for about £10. The access road is alongside a grass field, so please ensure that your vehicle is suitable for the terrain. Local attractions and activities include: - Cleveland Way National Trail (direct access from the site) - Cayton Bay (surfing): five minutes’ drive - Filey Brigg (walking and fossil hunting): 10 minutes - Scarborough (castle and beach): 15 minutes - Alpamare UK (indoor/outdoor pools): 15 minutes - Hunmanby Gap (quiet beach): 15 minutes - Sea Life Scarborough (aquarium): 20 minutes - Dalby Forest (walking and Go Ape): 40 minutes.

Weekend Trip to Bickley Rigg Farm Glamping Wagons

We loved staying at Bruce's farm. It was a really beautiful and peaceful setting, we were the only camping guests and the scenery was stunning. The wagons are very cute and cosy and full of interesting finds. Bruce is very helpful and offered to get us anything we needed from town, he also gave us a lovely tray of welcome local produce, which went down a treat. There was a bit of a plague of flies when we were staying, but this was to do with the prolonged hot weather and being on a farm. Be aware the composting toilet and barn facilities are a bit rough and ready, but not at all smelly and perfectly functional. Thanks so much for a wonderful weekend of quality time.

The pitch was in a good place near water stand waste disposal and shower block... downside we have a dog and been in full sun was not good for him maybe a grass electric pitch in shade would be an improvement for animal lovers. maybe an off lead field so dogs arnt thethered for days on end

We absolutely loved our stay here, purely for the spectacular sea views. Sunsets over the North Sea and looking out over Cayton Bay in the evening was incredible. The site itself is quite simple and back-to-basics, but the front-row seat to the coastline makes it entirely worth it. Will definitely be back for the scenery!

Beautiful site, very quiet and private with plenty of room in the non electric field. Very pretty lake which the site has a footpath gate up a slight bank to the waters edge. Be aware to walk to Castle Howard you will have to walk along the road NOT the lake as the pathway is blocked.

The wagon itself is amazing, unique, and a perfect place to sit inside and unwind while enjoying the peaceful, quiet surroundings.

Margaret's land was very quiet and calming, it is quite close to the M62 but don't let that scare you, the tall thick conifers surrounding the land block all the noise. Margaret was lovely, she couldn't be more helpful. We will return, we only booked one night as we wanted to try the electrical hook up on our new van, but would have happily stayed longer had we not had other plans.
