Rosehip Wood Campsite is a nature rich, off-grid wild campsite set in a peaceful woodland. Camp in secluded clearings surrounded by trees and bushes and be sheltered from the wind or hot sun when necessary. You can spend your evenings staring into a crackling campfire as fire pits are provided and firewood can be purchased on site.
This site is completely enclosed by fences so kids can roam free-range-style, make dens using branches and explore the 'secret cedar hideaway'. There is a field with a football goal for recreational activities and adjoining footpaths for road free walks.
It is tucked away on the outskirts of the pretty Norfolk village of West Dereham. This beautiful rewilding project offers the unspoilt simplicity and tranquillity of wild camping within the grassy clearings of a quiet mixed woodland and balanced with just enough facilities to make camping fun and comfortable including fresh water and compost toilets.
All Rosehip Wood’s pitches are family friendly and allow BBQs and campfires.
Your hosts invite you to wander along mown paths, through grassy clearings and wildflowers. The woodland has been planted with lots of nuts and fruits for both wildlife and humans to enjoy. As the sun sets, unwind, and enjoy starlit skies unspoilt by light pollution against the distant calls and barks of local wildlife.
The site has no lighting so don’t forget your torch if you plan on an evening amble. Downham Market is around 4 ½ miles away offering supermarkets, a market, food and drink in the town’s historic pubs and a range of restaurants. It also has a train station from which your hosts will be happy to pick you up if you are coming camping without a car. If you need an extra tent this can be rented at an extra cost.

Dog's more than welcome. The land is fully fenced off for dogs to roam freely if wanted. There is a pond for them to cool down in the summer.
There are toilets and a washing machine. There is also a place to do some washing up if needed.
The campsite is located 5 minute walk away from a bus stop that can take you into Cambridge. We can provide a shuttle if needed.

It felt like we had the whole place to ourselves, a nice remedy to the london rat race. The wash block was spotless.

Rosehip Campsite is just great.
Secluded woodland pitches with a balance of shade and sunshine. Clean and well thought out composting loos with hand washing area. Mains water as you enter the site.
Highlights for us were watching the many butterflies and also the bats as dusk turned to nighttime.
If, like us you love nature and peace you’ll love this campsite.

Silas is a great friendly host. When we arrived, he showed us the site and introduced us to the Pony and goats.
His one year old Labrador is cute and playful. We were visited every day to play fetch.
The chickens however, would surround you when food was in sight.
The first night, we were invited to a log fire where we met Silas's partner and father, all lovely people.
All in all, it's a fair site. two communal showers with hot water, a loo under the stars and a washing-up area.
Nights were peaceful, starting with beautiful sunsets.
If you fancy farm-style living, then you will enjoy it.

100% would recommend camping here, facilities are so clean and the area you can explore is huge with beautiful views, we were also in a larger group so it was lovely to not have a curfew like most campsites when we wanted to chat on the night, thank you for being so lovely and accommodating!

we loved the site we did camp close to the water but in hindsight the facilities are attached to the house by the gate so was a bit of a trek to and from the pitch but all in all we had a fantastic time Andy was brilliant took us to our pitch and gave us a run down of the site and helped me put with a set of alen keys so i could fix my motorbike thanks Andy 😊👍

Perfect campsite for a weekend of Paddleboarding kayaking and wild swimming. The site facilities are immaculate no matter what time of the day. The river is easily accessible and beautiful. We had the best couple of days and will definitely be returning very soon.

Silas’ place is just wonderful, low tech and high touch, a great base to visit Ely and Ely’s cathedral, Cambridge and wander through the countryside. Slias is very hospitable and easy going, a ‘must meet’ if you’re in the neighbourhood!

Nicely maintained pitches and toilets are great especially if you have kids. Pitches are a good distance from each other and also large! The track to the field is a bit even so go slow but east to find and owners both very nice and easy to contact. There is a woodland bit next door which is nice to explore. No light pollution so you can see all the stars on a clear night.

Clare could not have been more hospitable, she really went above and beyond for us. The site is absolutely beautiful and the facilities and layout are brilliant. We took our 3 year old and she had a fantastic time playing, cycling her balance bike and spotting all the local wildlife including the resident ducks.
We are most definitely planing a return visit.

We had a lovely stay, left to our own devices but comfortable in the knowledge any requests where either a 20 second walk to reception or a text away. Wild camping, with access to amenities on site, a cozy couple of nights nestled within a wildflower meadow. Nicely spaced pitches, quiet nights, and freshly made pizzas on site. We will be back! 😊

It's a very pretty campsite, with spacious pitches and clean facilities. There weren't many people and were quite spread out - brilliant that everyone respected the 10:30 quiet time.
We brought our own SUP and were able to enjoy the river.
The shady "fairy garden" saved us when it was really hot! Debs and Hannah were always happy to help and it was easy to get hold of them, nothing ever seemed too much trouble.
