Our beautiful handmade yurt is set amongst an ancient orchard on an idyllic smallholding, nestled between the Kent Downs AONB and Kent's spectacular coastline. The smallholding itself is a slice of rural Kent with free-range chickens just a stone’s throw away, you’ll soon be making some fairly unique friends. We have such a great location, Canterbury is just 10 minutes drive away and the trendy coastal town of Whitstable can be reached within 20 minutes. Outside you have your own fenced off space with a gas bbq, sheltered outdoor eating area, camp fire, as well as a composting toilet, hot shower and washing up facilities adjacent to Berty, which are exclusively for your use. Berty is tucked away at the far end of the smallholding on the edge of a 20 acre accessible wood, with sweeping views of the neighbouring fields. The small holding is home to free range chickens and other animals. Eggs are complimentary and we're more than happy to arrange for you to collect them yourself if you're in a 'hunter/gatherer' sort of mood as well as a loaf of bread, milk, butter and apple juice. Our rural location is truly fantastic! You'll instantly feel the stresses and strains of everyday life disappear as you soak up the delightful Kent countryside and adjacent ancient woodland. The picturesque Stour valley is just down the road, Canterbury and it's cathedral are only 10 mins away and Kent's extensive coastline can be reached in less than 20 mins. Some delightful pubs and restaurants can be found in Canterbury, and you are spoilt for choice when it comes to top quality country pubs in the local area. Cooking can be done on top of the wood burner inside the yurt or on the bbq with side burner ring in the bbq shelter. The grassed area outside of your private space operates as a very basic campsite and welcomes campers throughout the year. Numbers are kept to a minimum in order to maintain the peace and tranquility of the area. The A2 is just under half a mile from the property so a small amount of road noise may be heard if the wind is blowing from that direction.

Where to go

Norfolk

Sandy shores, fish & chips, and brightly painted beach huts await along the Norfolk coast. Cambridgeshire

Hertfordshire & Bedfordshire

Just north of London, travellers come to Hertfordshire for the Harry Potter Warner Bros Studio tour and stick around to play a game of golf, go horseback riding, or visit a country estate. To the north, Bedfordshire is home to the ZSL Whipsnade Zoo, Dunstable Downs, and Woburn Safari Park, making it a great destination for family camping holidays. Choose a campsite near a train station and hop into the capital for a day trip.

Essex

Essex boasts plenty of natural assets. Head to Epping Forest for woodland walks and glamping in the heart of the forest, walk or cycle through Dedham Vale, or enjoy bird-watching in the Rainham Marshes.
