Pine the Sky

9 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents8 acres · Southgate, ON
This beautiful spot was re-forested with pine a number of years ago, and was sectioned off from the surrounding farmland, which is now maintained by the mennonite community. It is 8 1/2 acres of wetland and forest, with a mown perimeter, and cool places to tuck into the forest for the night. The current owner was a special educator, and now is slowly turning the land into her homestead. There is a beautiful, spa quality outdoor shower next to a tidy and 'fancier than most' outhouse, a strawberry patch as well as wild alpine strawberries all over the property, a big dog and a small indoor cat keep her company. Here is what the land offers: -Bunkie in the Forest: A sweet 8x8 ft. space with new bunk and mattresses as of April 2023 -Strawberry Fields bunkie: an 10x12 space with a loft with a queen memory foam mattress and a main floor with a full futon and a small table -Campsites: Meadow, Forest and River spots. Close to each other, but you'd never know it! All three are chill and serene places. The property backs onto a ten-foot swimming hole in an otherwise shallow part of the Saugeen River. -RV Spot: With electric hook up ideal for RVs 30 feet and under -a connection to the organization, 'Black Folks Camp Too'! Welcoming to all!!!!! So much to see and do in the area!

Tolkien Fantasy At Grey Havens

7 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents1 acre · Markdale, ON
Tolkien readers know that Grey Havens is actually the last chapter of the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy. We embrace Tolkien's imagination. Readers and writers especially like our lakefront property. We especially encourage writers and readers looking for retreat. We facilitate relaxation and inspiration. Starting with our Little Free Library, each accommodation has a unique small Library inside . We have quiet, segregated spaces inside or outside for writing or reading. You can even purchase works by the host/author onsite. But we are not just about books. We also encourage water recreation activities: swimming, fishing, kayaking, canoeing. We have a free boat launch for your watercraft. We are on a small biologically special kettle lake, the source of the Styx River. Our lake water is flushed with cool underground water. For a description of the geology and biology of lake, consider the "Townsend Lake Cruise" on our unique eVessel, Swizzle Styx (book in the "Extras"). There is plenty of County Forest and Bruce Trailhead hiking opportunities also nearby. On our property are the following amenities: +Car parking (1/site; free) +Motorcycle friendly parking pads for touring riders (Free) +Wireless access (Free) +Spacious outdoor Privy used by all on site campers (All Free) +Dock and canoe/kayak launch (bring your own canoes/kayaks) +Patio/deck (20'x25') with fire circle, chairs and tables (burn only locally sourced wood by booking a "Firewood Bundle" OR a "Butane Cook Stove" in the "Extras") +A "Gear Wagon" (book in the "Extras") to transport your luggage, tents, gear and/or coolers from the car to the site you have booked. (And again on your way out also). Hip Campers have often asked for fire starting help. We recommend First Time/Novice Hip Campers consider the "Fire Workshop" extra. You get a "Firewood Bundle" a kit of firestarters and patient instruction on starting your first campfire. Grey Havens is waste wise: remove your garbage and cleanup your site to get up to $10 cleaning fee returned. Grey Havens was the final chapter in Tolkien's trilogy. We continue creating a paradise here. Hip Campers may wonder about the whale bench seen in many of our photographs. Ask your host about the story of our Whale Bench.

Sparrow Lake Camp

4 sites · Tents126 acres · Severn Bridge, ON
Sparrow Lake Camp is situated on the southernmost tip of the majestic Canadian Shield.  The site is known to have been a campground for bands of the Huron people prior to the European intrusion.  It is considered probable that Samuel de Champlain, the first European to explore Huronia, spent a night on this site in the 17th Century. In 1892, what would become the west side of the current property was sold by pioneer Captain Thomas Stanton to Toronto's renowned Massey family to act as their summer resort.  The resort sported the main lodge, dining room, and cottages and was only accessible by train and steamer. From the onset, the Masseys used the site as a summer retreat for the Young Men's Bible League of the Central Methodist Church. Today, the property is a thriving summer camp that also offers overnight tent stays with stunning lake views.

A Piece of Heaven

2 sites · Tents50 acres · Hanover, ON
A piece of heaven is what awaits you here. If you're looking for privacy your search is over. Imagine having your own island you reach by walking across the 15 metre bridge with a few areas to set up your tent(s) from where you'll fall asleep listening to the sound of the spring flowing into the pond, what bliss. The other site has a large rectangular pond of its own to ensure everyone has privacy. Your drinking water comes from Mother Nature, not a well, true spring water that's icy cold and so refreshing.. There are two spring fed ponds which makes them revitalizing on a hot day when you go for a swim. We are located 10 minutes away from the town of Hanover and the Allan Park Conservation is right beside us and has numerous walking and off road bicycling trails. The Saugeen River is 5 minutes away which you can kayak or tube down, too much fun that is. Our property offers beautiful scenery, virtual privacy, you see glimpses of our home, peace and tranquility with the backdrop of Mother Nature to be heard, geese, wild turkeys, deer, lots of songbirds, coyotes and oh yes, our big friendly lovable er be spectaular and later the stars twinkle above and maybe you'll even see a satellite high above while you're stargazing. Each site has a table (you'll need to bring lawn chairs), firepit with a cooking grill, and a supply of wood you'll have to purchase from us upon arrival, as we are a forestry managed property. An outhouse is a pleasant walk within minutes of the site. Water for dishes and general washing can just be taken from the pond (DO NOT DRINK) Not that it would kill you, lol. Ray will keep you supplied with fresh spring water for drinking. New to this site is a solar powered string of 300 lights, two single person floats, and a hammock for your added enjoyment. There are numerous things to do within a 15 minute drive. A couple dams, 2 conservation parks, drive-in theatre, casino, horse racing, small stock car racing track (great for young kids), two local breweries, a busy local butcher and the Saugeen River. With more destinations as you move outward. We promise you won't be disappointed and can't wait to share our piece of Heaven with you. TAKE NOTE You will be charged $500 per bag/item of refuse you leave behind. WE DO NOT HAVE GARBAGE PICKUP, besides which you are supposed to leave the site as you found it. CANCELATIONS: IF you cancel within two weeks of your arrival date, your money will NOT be refunded nor will you be able to change the date. We are sorry for this, but we only have a short season, and you'll be using up double the time you booked for. Terry and Ray P.S. Should you wish to come during off season please get in touch and if it's feasible we'll open up.
