From the moment we met Rick I was super impressed. He greeted us with our names, a smile and enthusiasm. It was almost as if the was just as happy to see us and greet us as much as we were. He was super hospitable, great conversations, and attention to detail. Such a memorable visit camping for us. And the surroundings were so peaceful. We’re still basking in the moments.

What a wonderful experience! We had 3 kids and a dog with us and everyone had the best time! The property is beautiful and the island is one of a kind. We felt like guests, and the hosts made sure we had everything we could need and so much more. They are the best kind of people and we feel really grateful to have been able to share their place with them and enjoy their awesome land and hospitality. So many features of this place were a delight to discover and I’d recommend this site and especially these hosts to everyone. Looking forward to booking again.

We absolutely loved our stay at Nature’s Acres! The property is stunning—peaceful, well cared for, and full of natural beauty. The wide open fields, serene wooded trails, and quiet, spacious campsites made for the perfect getaway. We felt so blessed to have found this spot. It was clear that a lot of thought and love has gone into creating such a welcoming space. The fire pit, picnic table, and provided firewood were great touches, and the swimming pond and kayaks were an amazing bonus. Everything was clean, quiet, and respectful. The hosts were kind, helpful, and quick to respond when we had questions. It truly felt like a hidden gem, and we’re already looking forward to coming back. What a great little spot, right on the river! My site was well shaded, had good flat options for my tent, and it was relaxing to be able to hear the sounds of the river. I added firewood to my stay and it was well worth it to not have to go hunting for some on the roadside. Angela popped by shortly after I got there to check in, appreciated. Perfect spot!

I recently stayed at this campsite and had a great experience overall. The place looked exactly like the photos and description—right beside the river, which was beautiful and made me want to camp there. Although there isn’t full shade, it was a bit windy and the coolness from the river made it comfortable. We enjoyed watching friendly people kayaking and tubing by the river, waving as they passed. Angela was very responsive and detailed in communication, both before we arrived and when we were leaving. Also, when i let her know that i'm scared of dogs she was very considerate in keeping them away away from our site as much as possible which I really appreciated (the dogs were very friendly though). On our last night we went to the drive-in movie nearby as recommended in the description. Overall, it was a peaceful and enjoyable camping experience in a beautiful riverside location with nice extra activities nearby. Thank you Angela for having us in your beautiful property and for being kind host. I will definitely come back and recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing place to camp beside the river. 💯

Weekend Trip to Back 2 Zen

Back 2 Zen is a private, tranquil camping spot thriving with an abundance of greenery and good vibes! We camped during very hot weather and were able to live and sleep comfortably due to the surrounding forest and short commute to the water. The highlight of our stay was the complete and total privacy offered, which is hard to find during the summer camping season. Communication with the hosts was quick and efficient. Fantastic camping site!

We had a wonderful stay at Carl Pepper! The place was serene and beautifully maintained. Carl was extremely cooperative and accommodating, especially at the last moment when another family joined us. The surroundings were peaceful, and everything looked perfect. The pond was absolutely beautiful—clean and deep—but not suitable for small kids. However, the deck over the pond was like the cherry on top; it added a special charm to the whole experience. We were a group of 4 adults and 3 kids, and all of us had a fun and memorable time. Highly recommended for families or small groups looking for a quiet and scenic getaway

Weekend Trip to White Pines Cabin Retreat

We loved Gillian and Jim’s riverside cabin. Our favourite part was swimming and relaxing on the tubes tied up to the side of the river. We also enjoyed playing the provided axe game, and using the swing. The cabin was clean, had lots of supplies, and there was some limited power in the cabin that powered a mini fridge and lighting, which was an awesome perk. The outhouse was clean as well, and you can still smell the fresh pine from the construction of it. The walk from the parking to the cabin was a few minutes through a nice trail, and the hosts gladly brought our gear to and from our car during check-in and check-out with their atv buggy. The hosts also gave us privacy, but were available if we had questions. We also spent some shopping time at a few vintage/thrift stores in Durham, and enjoyed a dinner at Marilynne restaurant in Markdale. These were great additions to our trip. We would definitely recommend this cabin to anyone who wants to relax riverside. Thank you Gillian and Jim for sharing this special place with us. We hope to be back!

This was an awesome campsite. My family and I had a great time. We spent 4 days there, and my boys (7 and 3) had lots of fun. We enjoyed the river, tubing, hiking, and riding their bikes along the campsite. Angela was a host host- Thank you for having us!

We had a great time camping at this place! It’s lovely, quiet, and private. We were able to take some great astrophotography shots on the clear nights we had and loved seeing some cute porcupines in the trees while we made s’mores at the great fire pit :)

2 nights at Beaver Ranch

Wow. What a little oasis Angela & Luke have down by the river. It’s everything you could ask for in a camping spot, full sun, on the river with privacy and peace. The swimming was wonderful, we wore water shoes as it was a little rocky but it was refreshing to cool off when the sun was shining. The current is strong in spots so lifejackets for weaker swimmers is a good idea. We walked our tubes just 50 from The Dam Spot & managed to float for a little while before joining the current downstream back to our site. A natural lazy river is now a must for us when camping. The firewood on site was a wonderful addition as was the adventure up to the sandbanks which offered a beautiful sunset (10 min walk & worth it at golden hour) Angela & Luke were so kind and helpful, we are so lucky we found this little gem. We can’t wait to book again & venture further up stream to do a longer float. 20/10 would recommend!!!

From the get-go the place was BEAUTIFUL 🤩 Our host was wonderful & showed us the great spots they have for camping, it was hard to choose lol as they all had their own charm & highlights. The nights were brazen with Stars & surely is a remarkable spot to watch them. We had a Lovely time experiencing the Fireflies that were brighter than ever seen before! It is 8 1/2 acres of wetland and forest, with a mown perimeter, and cool places to tuck into the forest for the night. The current owner was a special educator, and now is slowly turning the land into her homestead. There is a beautiful, spa quality outdoor shower next to a tidy and 'fancier than most' outhouse, a strawberry patch as well as wild alpine strawberries all over the property, a big dog and a small indoor cat keep her company. Heavens Acres has been a stop over since the 1850's for people travelling by horse from Toronto to Owen Sound. We have 100 acres surrounded by another 200 acres of conservation land. There is camping in the pine forest as well at the very back of the property where you will find a hardwood bush with trails. Please note that the hipcamp map shows a large body of water on the property, as does google driving maps. It is a marsh, not a lake. Google Earth shows it better. Sparrow Lake Camp is situated on the southernmost tip of the majestic Canadian Shield. The site is known to have been a campground for bands of the Huron people prior to the European intrusion. It is considered probable that Samuel de Champlain, the first European to explore Huronia, spent a night on this site in the 17th Century.In 1892, what would become the west side of the current property was sold by pioneer Captain Thomas Stanton to Toronto's renowned Massey family to act as their summer resort. The resort sported the main lodge, dining room, and cottages and was only accessible by train and steamer. From the onset, the Masseys used the site as a summer retreat for the Young Men's Bible League of the Central Methodist Church. Imagine having your own island you reach by walking across the 15 metre bridge with a few areas to set up your tent(s) from where you'll fall asleep listening to the sound of the spring flowing into the pond, what bliss. The other site has a large rectangular pond of its own to ensure everyone has privacy. Your drinking water comes from Mother Nature, not a well, true spring water that's icy cold and so refreshing.. There are two spring fed ponds which makes them revitalizing on a hot day when you go for a swim. We are located 10 minutes away from the town of Hanover and the Allan Park Conservation is right beside us and has numerous walking and off road bicycling trails. The Saugeen River is 5 minutes away which you can kayak or tube down, too much fun that is. Our property offers beautiful scenery, virtual privacy, you see glimpses of our home, peace and tranquility with the backdrop of Mother Nature to be heard, geese, wild turkeys, deer, lots of songbirds, coyotes and oh yes, our big friendly lovable er be spectaular and later the stars twinkle above and maybe you'll even see a satellite high above while you're stargazing. Each site has a table (you'll need to bring lawn chairs), firepit with a cooking grill, and a supply of wood you'll have to purchase from us upon arrival, as we are a forestry managed property. An outhouse is a pleasant walk within minutes of the site. Water for dishes and general washing can just be taken from the pond (DO NOT DRINK) Not that it would kill you, lol. Ray will keep you supplied with fresh spring water for drinking. New to this site is a solar powered string of 300 lights, two single person floats, and a hammock for your added enjoyment. There are numerous things to do within a 15 minute drive.
