Internet is limited (cell signal is okay) but the wildlife (some rare) is abundant. Each campsite is spacious and well equipped, with a private driveway, toilet, bbq/Coleman, screenhouse and more. As well as using the canoe and/or kayak provided, campers are also welcome to hike the marked and groomed waterfront trail (over 2 km) or others within the 56 acre property, just down the road is the yellow bridge over the Black River where a decent swimming hole can be found (Look for the groomed trail on the right just after the yellow bridge and follow it to the rapids). ATV's are permitted on the road, (gateway to trails to Lingham, Deer Rock, Caniff, and Skootamatta Lakes, and more) and friendly dogs are welcome off leash. This is a unique gelogical landscape, situated between Mt. Moriah, the Elzevir pluton complex and the Black River in an ultramafic zone, with coloured quartz veins and pillowed granite outcroppings. Mixed forest with varied species of deciduous and conifer trees - due to aerial seeding after a forest fire over 80 years ago, leaving charred stumps that can still be found from natural char preservation. Home to pileated woodpeckers, hawks, eagles and kingfishers, otters, fishers, salamanders, brown river trout and everything in between, either from the vantage of a hammock or on a hike in the forest this natural site won't disappoint.

A tranquil sanctuary of peace and solitude to soothe the soul, Simcoe Island is a bird watcher paradise, so close to the city of Kingston yet a world where time has stopped. Accommodations are a 16’ x 20’ prospector wall tent, set up with queen size deluxe air mattress, bunk bed and single cots for extra guests. We have a food prep table, dishes, frying pan and cooking pot, a small microwave, single induction cooktop, small bar fridge and a kettle and coffee maker. You can eat your meals at the picnic table inside the tent or at the outside picnic table. There is a kerosene heater for cooler nights and a wood pellet stove which will heat the tent during the winter months. An outdoor dishwashing station is available with on demand hot water. We have a basic dug privy. There are bicycles available to use to explore the island and there are 3 kayaks and 2 canoes for paddling in the sheltered channel and the lake. Fishing generally is good. Ferry toll is $10 for a return trip and the ferry from downtown Kingston to Wolfe Island is free. Linens and sleeping bags are available if requested . FALL and WINTER CAMPING at Windpsalm: Kerosene and/or wood pellets costs will be discussed prior to or upon guests arrival during the fall and winter months. The pellet stove's fan tends to be a bit noisy but it does a good job of making the tent warm and comfortable. Fen stayed in the tent in February when the overnight temperatures were -25C and the inside temperature on the back wall was 18C. Fen's grandchildren are also regular winter campers at Windpsalm. We can also provide a few sets of snowshoes and if requested a popup ice fishing hut. In the event that the snow is too deep for your vehicle, we will transport our guests to the tent in our farm John Deere Gator.

If you want privacy and seclusion this is your place . Our family lives on 80 acres 8 minutes from the town of Campbellford. We are on a dead end road out in the country. Upon arrival simply turn into our driveway and drive right past our house following the dirt path. Turn left just down the hill to the River. We are located on Bradley Bay on the Trent river with kms of lock free boating between Percy Boom and Glen Ross . We are located across from an island called Anderson island. Pike, pickeral, bass , Muskie ,channel cat ,and pan fish are in these waters. Our point is very private with plenty of birds and wild life to watch . We have one of our trails marked clearly threw out the woods for you to enjoy . We have a complementary canoe, 1 adult kayak, 1 adult SUP and 1 child’s kayaks . Life jackets and boat safety kits are also available . On the point we have a small fire pit and 2 docks. 1 of the docks face the river and one is up our little lagoon . A wonderful place for adults and children alike to fish , swim , relax and catch frogs and fire flies. We do have a few chairs and a child’s little turtle pool to swim and play in. The point is a long narrow grassy area. There are about 3 spots you could park a trailer . We think currently the max length would be a 24 foot trailer we could accommodate until we are able to open up the area a bit more. A small fishing boot about 14 foot and under could be launched at our water entry otherwise the closest public launch is about 5 minutes down the road . If we plan it ahead we have water from our well from a hose available. We are happy to let you fill your trailer up with water from our house hose on the way down to the point or any jugs you may have. Otherwise Ferris Provincial Park is about 7 minutes away. There is a water filling station and dumping station there for a small fee from the park. Things to do In area is the well known suspension bridge located in Campbellford. Doohers bakery and the Empire Cheese Factory and Chocolate Factory all within 10 minutes from our house . We also have local Breweries in the area, one being about 8 minutes away called the Fogorig Brewing. Campbellford is full of little shops and stores. It’s a beautiful walk back towards our house and down the laneway to the road as well. Great quiet country road for children and adults alike to go for a bike ride or walk along the road beside farmers fields where usually deer and sandhill cranes are seen. We usually touch base with our campers a week or so before there arrival date to give exact directions to our house via Hipcamp message. Upon arrival if arranged ahead of time we can be here to meet and greet you and ensure you are settled in. Otherwise there isn't a guarantee we will be at the property upon arrival but we can ensure that we will always have someone by phone for you to reach if need be at all times.

An adorable little retro styled bunkie on a private woodsy property that’s just a fifteen minute walk (or three minute drive) from a picturesque rock beach on Lake Ontario. Tucked in privately from the road out of site by a bunch of junipers and other trees located on the property. The bunkie offers a nice queen sized bed, a little area to the side with chairs and a table to relax if you need to get out of the sun/rain, and a very chill 70’s beach vibe. If the wind is just right, you will be able to hear the waves crash from the beach! The property has a perfect little hangout area where there is a nice big fire pit, patio table/chairs, as well as a portable bbq (you will just need to bring your own little Coleman propane cylinder with you.) If it’s a nice clear night, stare up to the sky and you may see the Milky Way above! There are a couple short loop trails that you can walk your dog on that loop from the bunkie/hangout area that will loop you back to either spot on the property. I just ask you to be respectful of cleaning up after your pets if you bring any. There are some pylons located in areas on the trails to indicate not to go past those any further due to it being not maintained past that those points. The land is located on probably one of the quietest roads in the County. You may see more off road vehicles if your on your way to the beach then you would cars. There is also a little outhouse located at the front of the property off to the side of the driveway. Twenty minutes from the town of Picton where you can find any amenity you require! A gorgeous town with tons of great restaurants, wineries, breweries, farm stands, artisans and shopping. Check out the rest of Prince Edward County by just adding a few more minutes to your trip in any direction to explore our other great towns around the community. So much to see and do here, lots of sightseeing, nature trails, conservation areas and don’t forget the world famous Sandbanks provincial park! (The largest sandbar beach in Canada). Perfect getaway for a couples glamping experience, some peace, quiet, and relaxation, or to just let loose and have a great time! 1 night at Foresthill Retreat

Dale's yurt-style tent was an excellent spot for us to meet up and rest for one night before our canoe trip in the Kawartha Highlands. Dale was quick to respond to my questions and went out of his way to provide wine glasses. The electric fireplace was a welcome feature on a cool night. We made breakfast at the well-supplied outdoor kitchen. The light at the outhouse was a nice touch, though it could have used some cleaning. Thanks a bunch, Dale.

We had a wonderful time here. The place was private, beautiful, clean and cozy. Dale was an amazing host - super responsive, flexible and a pleasure to deal with. If the outdoor shower setup and the outhouse can be fixed up a bit that would make it even more comfortable, but overall it was a great value for the price and I would 100% recommend this.

It’s my 2nd time - great place! Great area, lots of things to do and see! Campsite is very nice and cozy, Daric provided with so much things like propane, bbq, spare tent and more. Highly recommend going there!

We had a wonderful time at this cabin! Our dog loved exploring the trails and spending time down near the water. We saw so much wildlife and the fall colours were beautiful. As always the cabin was ready for us when we arrived and Katrina & Graham were great hosts. We will be back!

Weekend Trip to Bushwood!

First of all, id like to thank Brian and Jen for welcoming us on to their land. This was a fantasfic experience. Brain ended up meeting us and welcoming us to his area. He then took all of our stuff to site with his side by side. This spot was beautiful, set up extremly well and maintained and very quiet. We had a canoe to use, and although the water is shallow and weedy, a canoe here was a great time. We paddled and explored various islands. Night time the stars we great although the moon was too bright for them to truly shine, we were able to see saturn and its rings using our telescope. On our 4th and final day, brian and i had agreed on a time and he met us, using his side by side once again to cart our stuff back. He even helped us scour the site to make sure we didnt leave anything behind. Overall, it was an acceptional stay and the hospitality and kindness of Brian made it a trip to remember.

This location was everything and more that was described. The lot was bigger than expected and the setup was amazing. While it was just the 2 of us there were many little spots within our site to sit and take in the nature around us. From the bumble bees to the massive amount of birds to the amazing beaver. The spot was very well stocked. We definitely over packed. My only complaint was we weren't there long enough. We will definitely be going back.

I love Riverbend. Such a magical place. The cabin is sweet and simple and has everything you need, but it's really the land. This morning I swam in the cold river water as two herons flew overhead and the fall leaves glowed around me. Magic. Thank you Katrina and Graham for sharing this beautiful spot with those of us who desperately need a break from the city--we'll be back!

Prince Edward County

Just across Belleville Bay Bridge, Prince Edward County is home to beaches, Lake Ontario waters, and Sandbanks Provincial Park. With expansive sandy shores and shallow waters, the park offers a great spot to go swimming, kayaking, or sunbathing. The bird migration hotspot is also popular among birdwatchers. Find beachfront and waterfront campsites throughout Prince Edward and within Sandbanks Provincial Park that have excellent access to the county’s noteworthy wineries and farm-to-table restaurants. Then, return back to nature in a year-round waterfront cottage rental.

Bon Echo Provincial Park

North of Belleville, Bon Echo Provincial Park is best known for Mazinaw Rock. The sheer rock cliff rises 100-metres above the shores of Mazinaw Lake. A national historic site of Canada, the cliff face is adorned with a diverse collection of over 260 First Nations pictographic symbols. From the park’s various campsites—backcountry, roofed, and RV—campers can paddle up in a canoe or kayak to get a closer view of the ancient artwork. Then, wander along nature trails that weave through forests, wetlands, and lake shorelines.

Thousand Islands National Park

One of the most unique camping experiences available near Belleville is Thousand Islands National Park on St. Lawrence River. Despite its name, the park actually consists of 20 granite islets of varying sizes where explorers can snorkel and dive to observe underwater wildlife. Both mainland and island camping are available, but island access is only by private boat. Amenities vary by island and may not include potable water. Glampers may want to try cottage rentals in luxurious waterfront locations around the park as another option.

When to go

With average daytime temperatures in the mid-20s, summertime is peak camping season near Belleville. Warm, sunny weather is ideal for swimming, hiking, and mountain biking, and campsites can fill up quickly. In spring, landscapes fill with blossoming flowers and budding trees.
