Oh. My. Gawd. Where to start?! This is one of the original properties for the area. Owned by one lovely family since the 1700's until your current (very lucky) host. The house was the post office from 1861 to 1961. One of the rooms was the hospice for the area... SPOOOOOKY!!! There is a culvert from the 1700's on the property from where the province moved the highway sometime before the 40's. Neat! Reggie took over ownership in 2020 and is keeping things as original as possible, but adding his touch, like his battle axe travel trailer, Franny, which makes her home in the driveway. She's worth a visit! - TENT ADVANCED LEVEL LAKESIDE is by far the most beautiful; however, it is a small area, located on the edge of the property, and I can't be responsible for the neighbours to a certain extent. Fort Nova is your home for as long as you choose. Let's get campy! **KEEP IN MIND THAT THERE MAY BE OTHERS STAYING THERE** But there are multiple areas to choose from, including: the lawn, living amongst the pines, a forest clearing, or even lakeside (it's rough back there). You can have complete privacy and feel free to reach out to me at the house if you need anything. For those with RV's, there is an exterior outlet and a water spigot, but please remember, others might be staying there so we need to play nice and share! On the property, there is: - A decent-sized lake (I wish I had a canoe... :( ) - 1700's abandoned bridge - Lots of foraging (Won't be held liable if ya eat something silly!) - Rail Trail (runs through the property) So many bloody things to do nearby: - The ocean is right across the street. - Oasis Fish and Chips (Also right across the street!) - Beech Street Kitchen (in Lockeport) - Barrington (Lobster capital of the world, UFO capital of Canada) - Brooklyn (Hank Snow's hometown) - Provincial Parks - Boxing Rock Brewing Co.

Forest Shore Domes

12. Forest Shore Domes

53km from Liverpool · 2 sites · Lodging · Jordan Ferry, NS
A bespoke luxury nature experience, on the Atlantic Ocean. Forest Shore Dome is a Geodesic Dome within the forests of Nova Scotia’s South Shore, with ocean views and the intention to create a relationship between us and nature. It is a place to leave the ‘busy’ behind. Slowing down, re-grounding, and reconnecting - heart, body and spirit. The forest & ocean, ruled by the moon and the seasons - time does not exist here, as we know it, in our normal day-to-day. You set the pace here. With the intention of having all your senses awakened while falling in sync with the pulse of the nature around you, minimalist luxury is the caveat. You will have the best of everything you need, and nothing of what you do not. We designed the dome to be a hemisphere that offers an opportunity to experience all four elements - earth, wind, fire and water - within the sacred geometry of the its' structure. Loading the wood burning fireplace while the vintage claw foot tub fills with hot water may become your ritual. Whilst the wind moves through the trees, and the waves reach the shore, becomes your meditation. The ocean is only a short walk down a winding forest path, and is often best enjoyed with a hot coffee or loose leaf tea. Every item, from the organic Egyptian cotton and Flax linen bedding on the king size bed, to the organic wild harvested body/bath products and local fresh roasted coffee, has been intentionally chosen for their love of people and planet. Transparency is everything.

20. Maplewood Creek

64km from Liverpool · 1 site · Lodging · Barss Corner, NS
Maplewood Creek is a peaceful, clothing-optional property designed for those who value connection — with nature, with like-minded community, and with themselves. Whether you’re a seasoned naturist or simply curious about a more free and grounded way of being, you’re welcome here. Set just off the beaten path, the land offers a quiet, rustic setting where guests can unplug and unwind in comfort. Think of it as a gentle step into a more natural rhythm — a place where the air feels fresher, time slows down, and there’s no pressure to be anything but yourself. Each campsite or rental space is spaced thoughtfully to give you privacy, while still allowing opportunities to connect with others if you choose. If you’d prefer to enjoy the entire space to yourself, that’s welcomed too — we fully support both community connection and complete solitude. The experience is intentionally off-grid. While some access to Wi-Fi may be available through a booster, service can be unreliable, and many guests find this part of the charm. Basic amenities are provided to make your stay easy, without compromising the simplicity of the experience. Maplewood Creek is not a resort — it’s a natural setting with a touch of enchantment, where the breeze moves freely, the sky feels wider, and your body and soul are invited to rest.

Ethos Eco Retreat

Ethos Eco Retreat is a Geodesic Dome within the forests of Nova Scotia’s South Shore, with ocean views and the intention to create a relationship between us and nature. It is a place to leave the ‘busy’ behind. To slow, re-ground, and connect - heart, body and spirit. Ethos is a place ruled by the moon and the seasons - and time does not exist here, as we know it in our normal day to day. You set the pace here. With the intention of having all your senses awakened while falling in synch with the pulse of the nature around you, minimalist luxury is the caveat. You will have the best of everything you need, and nothing of what you do not. We designed the dome to be a container that offers an opportunity to experience all four elements - earth, wind, fire and water - within the sacred geometry of the dome’s structure. Loading the wood burning fireplace while the vintage claw foot tub fills with hot water may become your ritual, while the wind moving through the trees, and the waves reaching the shore, your meditation. The ocean is only a short walk down a winding forest path, and is often best enjoyed with a hot cappuccino or loose leaf tea.
