"Big Blue" sits atop a lawn covered hill on the shore of the Cobequid Bay. A grove of fir and pine trees offer a sense of woodland solitude and fairies. The energy is magical. You can enjoy a front row seat or amble down over the lawn to sit on the end of the public wharf to watch the tidal bore squeeze into the mouth of the Shubenacadie River. The remnants of the shipyard where the WD Lawrence was built in the 1800's can be seen poking through the sand on the beach directly in front of the marsh. At low tide you can walk for miles in a westerly direction. Always be Tide Aware! Across the road from the marsh is the residence of WD Lawrence himself. It is a provincial museum. Directly across from Big Blue is a Ducks Unlimited pond. The sound of the geese and ducks can be heard 24 hours a day! There is a path that circumvents most of the pond. Adjacent to the Lawrence House parking lot there is an observatory where you can linger and watch the shenanigans of the occasional muskrat or possibly a beaver. Nestled in the trees on a large deck with the sounds of birds and squirrels all around, this unique structure spans 15 ft across with 14 triangular sides. It holds a double bed, dinning table, rocking chair, 3 burner stove, sink with water, full kitchenette and all the cooking utensils you need. The wood stove keeps the space very warm and cozy and we offer professional massage and reiki. You can walk, ski or bike for hours along a river. Or visit towering gypsum cliffs that host huge bat caves.. Our yurt is tucked away in the trees of our 20 acre wood lot. We provide lots of wood and fire starter for the wood stove but guests should have experience with wood stoves (or be really keen to learn). The stove is big enough to easily heat the whole yurt to cozy comfort but guests should expect to have to keep the stove going in order to keep the space warm and this may mean stoking it once in the night. We provide lots of extra blankets and two pairs of extra slippers for those who forget to bring their own. The solar panel creates enough power to run the lights, charge a cell phone and sometimes a computer but not much more. The space is beautiful, unique and quite dreamy but it is rustic. There is a composting toilet next to the yurt (with hand sanitizer but no sink) and outdoor showers (with hot water) near our farm house. There is a three burner propane cook stove, cooking and dining wares and a small sink for dishes. There are all the utensils that you may need to cook for yourself but there is limited counter space so cooking elaborate meals is possible but could be cumbersome. There is a cooler and we can stock it with ice packs upon request. We supply coffee and a french press,. We also offer massage and reiki to guests for $90 (60 min). Morghain Lee is a massage therapist and Reiki Master and enjoys blending these two body therapies for a holistic healing experience. There is an outdoor fire pit and star gazing chairs. We ask that you only use natural soaps in the shower, the sink, pond or river. We have some Dr Bronners if you like:) Cell reception on the land depends on the provider but most people have weak service (one or two bars). Enough to maintain a phone connection (if you are not walking around too much) but not enough to download videos. Some people have more or less. We do allow pets but we ask for an extra $15 contribution to compensate for the extra cleaning. We also ask that dogs not be on the bed and that they don't chase our chickens or kittens. There are outdoor showers available in spring, summer and fall when the pipes won't freeze. For those wanting to stay for longer periods in the winter we can discuss usage of the shower in our house.

Nestled in the trees on a large deck with the sounds of birds and squirrels all around, this unique structure spans 15 ft across with 14 triangular sides. It holds a double bed, dinning table, rocking chair, 3 burner stove, sink with water, full kitchenette and all the cooking utensils you need. The wood stove keeps the space very warm and cozy and we offer professional massage and reiki. You can walk, ski or bike for hours along a river. Or visit towering gypsum cliffs that host huge bat caves.. Our yurt is tucked away in the trees of our 20 acre wood lot. We provide lots of wood and fire starter for the wood stove but guests should have experience with wood stoves (or be really keen to learn). The stove is big enough to easily heat the whole yurt to cozy comfort but guests should expect to have to keep the stove going in order to keep the space warm and this may mean stoking it once in the night. We provide lots of extra blankets and two pairs of extra slippers for those who forget to bring their own. The solar panel creates enough power to run the lights, charge a cell phone and sometimes a computer but not much more. The space is beautiful, unique and quite dreamy but it is rustic. There is a composting toilet next to the yurt (with hand sanitizer but no sink) and outdoor showers (with hot water) near our farm house. There is a three burner propane cook stove, cooking and dining wares and a small sink for dishes. There are all the utensils that you may need to cook for yourself but there is limited counter space so cooking elaborate meals is possible but could be cumbersome. There is a cooler and we can stock it with ice packs upon request. We supply coffee and a french press,. We also offer massage and reiki to guests for $90 (60 min). Morghain Lee is a massage therapist and Reiki Master and enjoys blending these two body therapies for a holistic healing experience. There is an outdoor fire pit and star gazing chairs. We ask that you only use natural soaps in the shower, the sink, pond or river. We have some Dr Bronners if you like:) Cell reception on the land depends on the provider but most people have weak service (one or two bars). Enough to maintain a phone connection (if you are not walking around too much) but not enough to download videos. Some people have more or less. We do allow pets but we ask for an extra $15 contribution to compensate for the extra cleaning. We also ask that dogs not be on the bed and that they don't chase our chickens or kittens. There are outdoor showers available in spring, summer and fall when the pipes won't freeze. For those wanting to stay for longer periods in the winter we can discuss usage of the shower in our house.

Gloria was a friendly host and the big grassy yard that she offered was a good place to camp near the Bay of Fundy where you could watch the tides come and go.. There’s a nice walking trail from her place to the village of Maitland where we got a very decent dinner at a good price. The bathroom facilities were substandard, not clean, but made available whenever we needed it. Overall, it was a decent experience, although perhaps a bit overpriced.

Weekend Trip to Murphy's Camping on the Ocean

Beautiful waterfront views from almost every site. We visited in early October so the campground wasn’t very crowded. Electric, water, fire ring and nice picnic table at our site. Older bathhouse with shower that was well maintained and clean. Would recommend staying here.

The dome was beautiful! We had such a wonderful time. It was picturesque and peaceful. All amenities were as shown in the posting. It was clean and cosy. The sauna was a nice touch and easy to operate. Our hosts were on hand if we had any issues and their communication was brilliant. We loved our short stay and can't wait to go again!

My husband and I had a fantastic time at the chalet. Our first night in NV at Porter's land was a thrilling adventure in nature, with the delightful chorus of birds. I even had a refreshing dip in the lake, and we were up before sunrise to witness the stunning sight of the sun rising over the misty lake. It was an exhilarating experience in Porter's land, and we're already counting down the days until our next visit!

My husband and I loved using our pop-up camper here! The sound and view of the ocean with forest on either side - whimsical. Lots of wildlife around (birds, weasel, hare - probably more we didn't see in the dark!) A lovely location with necessities nearby, a kind host - we will be back for sure!

We had a wonderful stay st the Dome in the woods. It was such a beautiful and relaxing space. We were so excited that the space was dog friendly. The hosts thought of every detail including supplies to make our pupper comfortable! The location is fantastic with Peggy's Cove, Lunenburg, and Halifax all driable within 20min-1hour.
