Murphy’s Camping on the Ocean has been operating on Nova Scotia’s Eastern Shore for over 60 years! This makes Murphy’s Camping one of the longest-running tourism operations in Nova Scotia.
Our campground lands began as a coastal fishing settlement where you’ll still find a fisherman’s wharf and the old salt fish tanks from years past when schooners would load this cargo bound for the New England market. Over the years the Murphys have provided services such as schooner supply runs, rum running, moon shining, boat building, blacksmith services, farm produce, and sport fishing.
With the introduction of our brand new geo-domes and cottage, our establishment now offers 10 months of Wild Islands fun! A 1.5 km hiking trail is planned for September 2025, which will make it even easier to enjoy the Wild Islands Coast.

This was one of the original homesteads in the Margarees. There was an old sawmill on site which was used to build the house and barn. It was sold to a man who started renovations for a summer house but ended up listing it for sale. I purchased it and completely renovated the 100-year-old house. Shortly after, my brother and I started an outfitting company with no plan of building a campground, but in 2017 we saw a great opportunity for building something unique. We wanted to keep a backwoods camping feel, but yet create it around a hostel-inspired environment. We launched June 1, 2018 and are in full swing now. ● Campsites are modest, intended for 1 RV, trailer or tent, and 1 vehicle.
● Rates are for up to 4 individuals, with a $5 surcharge for additional guests per night.
● Visitors are to check in at the office, arriving before 9pm, exiting by 11pm.
● Speed limit is 10 km/hr.
● Children are not to be unsupervised in the park and on a site by 11pm. Children on bikes require helmets, and no bikes or playground after dark.
● Midnight is quiet time, and no excessive noise ever please.
● Dogs are to be in your control, leashed and picked up after, with no excessive barking.
● Campfires are subject to Nova Scotia burn ban restrictions – no burning 8am-2pm ever. Check Burn Safe website at 2pm daily to see if 2pm or 7pm fires or permitted, or no fires at all. We sell firewood or you can bring your own. Do not move the firepit, and pits or campsites left littered will be a $10 cleaning fee.
● Recycling is mandatory, with garbage, recycling, cardboard, compost and empties bins on site.
● Campers must adhere to the rules for themselves, their family and visitors. Failure to do so will result in notice to leave. Campers are to pay for any property damage caused. No refunds will be granted, including for early departure.

The on site restaurant, The Dancing Moose Cafe, is changing its activity starting this year (2025) and will only be open, serving breakfast for guests that stay on the property. Full a la carte breakfast is available, including our "famoose" Dutch Pannekoek. Breakfast is optional and not included in the rental fee.
There are 4 different kind of vacation rentals on the property,

Sure, you can sit inside and watch one of our many DVD movies, but instead why not : explore nature, take a walk through the woods, talk to your wife, or friend, play with the kids, or throw a ball for your dog? If you want to relax, visit the golf course in town or just chill on the comfy deck. Do you want to ride, your bike on mountain trails, fish, visit a lighthouse or a petting farm? ● Campsites are modest, intended for 1 RV, trailer or tent, and 1 vehicle.
● Rates are for up to 4 individuals, with a $5 surcharge for additional guests per night.
● Visitors are to check in at the office, arriving before 9pm, exiting by 11pm.
● Speed limit is 10 km/hr.
● Children are not to be unsupervised in the park and on a site by 11pm. Children on bikes require helmets, and no bikes or playground after dark.
● Midnight is quiet time, and no excessive noise ever please.
● Dogs are to be in your control, leashed and picked up after, with no excessive barking.
● Campfires are subject to Nova Scotia burn ban restrictions – no burning 8am-2pm ever. Check Burn Safe website at 2pm daily to see if 2pm or 7pm fires or permitted, or no fires at all. We sell firewood or you can bring your own. Do not move the firepit, and pits or campsites left littered will be a $10 cleaning fee.
● Recycling is mandatory, with garbage, recycling, cardboard, compost and empties bins on site.
● Campers must adhere to the rules for themselves, their family and visitors. Failure to do so will result in notice to leave. Campers are to pay for any property damage caused. No refunds will be granted, including for early departure.

Absolutely loved our stay! The camp had all the basic necessities for off grid, with perfect layout and warm decor. The land and trails were so fun to explore. Snowshoeing and winter bonfire were great - peaceful nature retreat at its best. Dawn and Terry were very much great hosts, with directions and explanations at the start, even lending us a sled for our unrequired heavy packs, as well as letting us know to reach out anytime if anything more needed. No need for that, the cabin already had all we needed for a weekend stay, along with special touches. The games and puzzles were a great addition too! Thanks so much for sharing your piece of paradise!!

We surprised my parents with a stay at Bootsie Back 40 Cabin for their 40th anniversary, and it was absolutely perfect! The hosts went above and beyond with every detail. The cabin itself is so cozy and welcoming, surrounded by stunning fall colors that made the whole experience magical.
My parents loved the peace and quiet — they spent their mornings sipping tea while listening to the birds sing. The hosts were wonderfully friendly and even took photos of my parents for me, which was such a thoughtful touch. They also got to visit the farm animals (including two emus!), which they absolutely adored.
Thank you for helping me give my parents such a memorable and heartfelt experience. This will be a trip they’ll cherish forever!

My husband and I had a fantastic time at the chalet. Our first night in NV at Porter's land was a thrilling adventure in nature, with the delightful chorus of birds. I even had a refreshing dip in the lake, and we were up before sunrise to witness the stunning sight of the sun rising over the misty lake. Weekend Trip to Ingomar Oceanfront Camping
The site was lovely, right next to the sea with a beautiful view. The tent has everything you need, to cook, a bbq outside and heat plate inside, the gaz is included and there's solar powered lamp in the tent above on the table to cook inside. We just used our own French press to make coffee in the morning but that's about it !
The bed is lovely, there is an extra mattress for a third person. The site very quiet and we slept like babies.

Our family of four enjoyed the solitude this cabin on a small lake offered for a much needed staycation. We enjoying resting in the hammock and the gentle rhythm the decks rocking chair provided. We brought our own, but there are several fishing rods available and ready to use. The kitchen is stocked with everything you need. Looks like there’s going to be some upcoming renovations to the cabin so we can’t wait to see what’s coming up next at Grumpy Bear Hollow!

I loved my time at the bell tent. The view from the bed facing the screen door is beautiful and listening to the sound of the waves on the shore lulls you to sleep.
There are enough amenities to be comfortable but it is rustic enough that you still have the simplicity of camping. A perfect combination for someone my age.
The host is friendly and very accommodating. Many lovely beaches and sites to see within close driving distance. I would love to go back sometime!

I did not want to leave! Incredibly thoughtful touches everywhere (bug spray - which wasn't needed) solar lights with 1 remote to control them all, speaker, fans, so many things to use in the bathroom- too many to list) just know a lot of thought has gone into wondering how best they can be of service to folks. Easy walk in to the site (5-7 min). Lovely screened in porch to sit and listen to birds. Reading in bed is like being in a tree house with huge windows. And vintage stuff everywhere!!! A delight. Order the breakfast. She's a trained chef. Then go to Lunns Mills (she owns that, too) also swim at mickey hill lake. Clear warm water and hardly anyone there. 10 min walk through forest to the lake. Do it! Do it all!!

1 night at Moss Cottage Forest Glamping
We slept one night at Chantelle's and Gary's cottage/pod. It was amazing 😍😍😍 to hear all kind of different birds and we had a beautiful view on the forest. The pod was designed to provide an immersive forest experience for guests and we appreciate it! It was nice to meet Chantelle and Gary. We felt welcomed and at home. We hope to come back for another trip soon 💜.

2 nights at Moss Cottage Forest Glamping
Perfect spot and location. Moss Cottage is the kind of place where you can walk in, drop your bags and immediately relax and start your stay. Every detail has been well thought out and provided for - from the kitchen with cooktop and every supply you might need, to the charging station, the local guidebooks and information, and rainy/lazy day books and games. The bed and sofa are very comfortable, the shower towels are plush and the decor and vibe are so warm and inviting. The tall glass windows in the shower and cottage place you in the midst of the forest and birds. This is a serene place that I didn't want to leave - but it's 10 minutes to everything Annapolis Royal has to offer and close to tidal beaches and a provincial parks and lake. Gary and Chantelle are fantastic, helpful and responsive hosts. I've already booked my next stay :)
