The area features Class I–IV rapids, ideal for whitewater kayaking, with Chilliwack River Rafting just minutes away. There isn't river access at the sites. The stairs to the beach are through the covered picnic shelter. There is now a light wire fence along the river in riverfront sites for some protection because of the drop-off & undercut banks (not shown in the pictures). We have an endless network of trails and logging roads, perfect for ATVs (ride directly out of our gate), hiking, and biking. Whether you’re seeking adrenaline or tranquility, this property offers both. ATV's are idle in - idle out only. QUIET, well-mannered, leashed pets are welcome if you pick up after them. LONG WEEKENDS are a minimum of 3 nights. CHILDREN MUST be accompanied by a parent at all times! FIREWOOD is $9. for a large feed bag full & is available between 8 AM and 8 PM. We have a 7 acre developing hobby farm currently with fruit trees, a garden, a king shepherd named Jack and a cat named Lulu. You may see some of our neighbour's ducks walking around and hear their rooster in the morning. Please note; our driveway is an uphill, switchback driveway so long trailers are not a fit for our location. Front wheel or 4 wheel is a plus but typically all vehicles can make it up our driveway. We have 2 swimming holes near and backing our property. At the back of the property is Hayward Lake/Hairsine Creek which is great for swimming. Inflatable paddle boards are the way to go if you wish to paddle board in the lake since it would be difficult portaging a rigid paddle board down the Crown Land trail. On the front is the Stave River Runoff. This has trails and is ideal if you have smaller children as the water is a bit warmer and has shallow areas. There are hiking trails in the area and a beach area a short drive from the sites.

The huge graveled area makes turning around super easy, and there’s a pretty view to the west over a grassy field toward the sunset. The barn is picturesque, though there are no animals on the property except for one indoor foster cat. The RV site has water from the barn via a 100-foot hose. “House” electric is available from the barn with a provided 100-foot power cord for a $5 charge. Benson Road is narrow with a deep ditch, so it isn’t suitable for walking or biking, but traffic noise is minimal. The property sits directly across from the Lynden airport. While planes rarely take off or land here, it’s fun to watch when they glide in close to the ground. On most days you might see three planes, with a few more on Sunday afternoons when people return home. The property is a flat 1,500 feet long, making it great for walking. It’s also a wonderful spot for dogs to run and play, though since it’s within Lynden city limits, dogs must remain under immediate control or on a leash. Quiet time is strictly observed at 9 p.m. A campfire area is available in the farmyard, with a charged hose required to be on hand. The owner will try to provide firewood and newspaper for starting fires, but availability isn’t guaranteed. Conveniently located, the property is only a 4-minute drive from charming, flower-filled downtown Lynden and the Northwest Washington Fairgrounds, 6 minutes from the main grocery shopping area, and about 5 minutes from the Canadian border crossing. Stunning sunset! I will definitely be back👍🏻 I really enjoyed Mary Lou’s hospitality and Hipcamp last weekend. Perfect setup with tons of room if you have an RV or only a roof top tent like me. This would be a great place to let children or pets play. It’s peaceful and felt very safe. Lynden is a beautiful town also. It has light road traffic and it was easy to find. I enjoyed watching a few airplanes coming and going at the Lynden airport (the float plane was a real treat), and the bald eagle searching for food in the field behind my truck. Mary Lou has great communication, and is a fabulous host. I am very first camper for her place! It did not disappoint. At the site she has a nice set of chairs and portable table out for use which was helpful. I was also able to fill my water jug at the barn next to the field. I did not use the firepit, but it is in the middle of her maintained lot and would be nice to sit around. Mary Lou’s’ would be a great place for people that are waiting for the Canadian boarder to open up and are traveling in an RV as well because it lot is flat and large. The sunset was STUNNING as well. I will definitely go back.

Lovely quiet spot. We camped here the last two nights and had a fantastic time. On the second night we shared the space with a large birthday party full of teenagers and still felt like our spot was very private. This morning we saw an owl right outside our tent. Richard and Kathleen are awesome people and their property is beautiful and well maintained. We will definitely camp here again!

Weekend Trip to Hayward Farms

The property is beautiful with an amazing forest and stunning lake. Brent was very helpful (never met Sherri). I definitely wouldn't have booked the site if I knew it was up a steep driveway with about 3 switchbacks. I was driving a fully loaded old camper van pulling a small motorcycle trailer (also loaded with motorcycle and totes) and it was hard on the van, also had to back up and jackknife the trailer on a couple of the switchbacks. One suggestion I have (and already mentioned to Brent) is if they mark clearly on their main bio of the land that their driveway is not recommended for any kind of bigger units. Also if its wet, 4x4 would be better. Luckily it was dry when we arrived. I read through their page and didn't notice the one smaller spot they mention about the driveway. Brent was very helpful and also offered to pull my trailer down the driveway the next morning for us and that felt very supportive so he definitely made up for it! Haha. Thank you so much Brent for your kindness.

Great private spot! The beach access was easy to get to! However it was very inconvenient that there was no outhouses to use and we had to bring our own toilets. Also was not given any direction to dispose of our waste when it was full, so had to haul it out. Lastly the outhouse was right outside our site and we kept getting wafts of outhouse smell… was not pleasant.

Richard is such an awesome host. Kind, friendly, and hands off but available if you need him which I appreciate! The campsite is beautiful and well maintained. Richard has great recs for local spots, hikes, etc. I’d 100% stay here again, it was my best Hipcamp experience so far!

Location was excellent. Listing described it perfectly. We stayed in site 6. One neighbor to one side of us. Close to the bathrooms and hot showers! We got to pet the cows. Cheryl was friendly and answered our questions with ease. We will definitely spend another weekend here!

We had a wonderful time staying at Richard’s campground. There’s plenty of space and it’s less than an hour of drive to scenic places around Mt. Baker so we enjoyed hiking there. I can definitely recommend this place

This was a great spot, peaceful and quiet. The field is massive and all the sites are spread out. My pup loved meeting all of Rich's dogs and running around chasing a frisbee in the open space. Rich was a great host, and we loved chatting with him.

I loved tent camping here, the walk down to the lake is quite short, and not too complicated for anyone who’s used to walking in forests. it was super calm at night, very relaxing. directions were clear and brent and sherri were very welcoming :)

Sherri and Brent are such great hosts, always so friendly and welcoming. We've been coming to Hayward to camp for years and they're always making improvements to the sites. We were so excited to check out their new glamping option this year and it did not disappoint. Everything you need and so cozy. Can't wait to visit again soon!
