Originally established years ago, this park had great bones, and in the spring of 2024, we took on the challenge of bringing it back to life. Conveniently located between Oklahoma City, OK, and Amarillo, TX, and just a short drive from Elk City, our park offers a perfect retreat for travelers exploring the historic Mother Road.
We've worked hard to preserve the park's vintage charm while adding modern amenities to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable stay. Our recent upgrades include a fenced-in dog park where your furry friends can roam freely, a cozy sunken fire pit for evening gatherings, and a game area featuring horseshoe, corn hole, and tetherball for family fun.
The old office has been completely remodeled, now housing air-conditioned private bathroom and shower for your convenience. We’ve also added an air-conditioned coin laundry room to make your stay even more comfortable. For those looking to explore the outdoors, we offer horseback riding and hunting opportunities on the adjacent ranch property we acquired.

Lana was an exceptional host, and the bunkhouse was cozy and comfortable. I was greeted by horses when I arrived and woke up to a gorgeous sunrise. I'm sad I couldn't stay longer as this place has so much to offer! Tip: follow the written directions on how to get there, not the coordinates given by Hipcamp. I highly recommend this stay!

Sam’s Town and Sam himself are the epitome of what Hipcamp should be about. People who open their hearts to others and share their vision of what America is about. I came and stayed over Thanksgiving and it was exactly what I needed…. to disconnect, slow down and remember what is really important in this life. Sam I wish you all the best. You are truly inspiring!! Keep up the good fight and thank you again for all your hospitality. All the little touches mean so much and the care package for my puppy just warmed my heart. Sam is a wonderfully accommodating host. A few yellow jackets had slipped into where we were originally going to stay and kept landing on me. As someone who is deadly allergic, I was not comfortable staying there. We contacted Sam and he was very apologetic, offering to reimburse us completely if we needed to find somewhere else to stay, or move us to a different cabin in his camp. We took him up on the latter option. Since where we were moving from cost more money than where we ended up (the Writers Cabin), he reimbursed us the difference in cost. He got the cabin ready for us, and lit us a fire in the fire pit outside the cabin that we enjoyed relaxing by.

Very secluded private location on Lana‘s ranch. Visit with the horses and cows as they meander up to your campsite while you camp in their pasture for the night. Very quiet and dark, great for sleeping! However, if you have a dog, be aware, the ground is full of little tiny thorny burrs that get stuck in their paws, and the bottom of your shoes! Other than that a wonderful place to stay if you’d like to be off the beaten path.

Burl met us promptly when we arrived and graciously offered us any site we wanted. We chose a site next to the bathhouse because it was a bit further from the road. All the sites have full hookups and are mostly level. Burl and his family live on this working farm with horses, goats, chickens, and probably a lot more that we didn’t see. The bathhouse has a laundry room and one shower/bathroom that were cool and clean. We enjoyed watching them work with the horses after dinner and sitting in the rocking chairs in the shade. I recommend Deepcreek Ranch and would certainly stay there again. We couldn’t resist buying a few dozen farm fresh eggs for our journey.

We stayed in the barn and it was a great break from camping. However the campsites were quaint and nicely situated on the property as well. Easy stop off the I 40 with groceries, fast food and gas nearby. I may have missed “cash only” in the write up but it is cash only on site if you are looking to pick up goods from their store. Would stay again if driving thru.

Check out the Black Kettle Recreation Area for hiking, fishing, boating, and chillaxin', plus two camping areas. The Antelope Hills are another can't-miss. They used to be known as the Boundary Mountains, and they marked the 100th Meridian. Plus, they separated the U.S. from Spain back in the day. If that's not enough to keep you occupied, hang out at Skipout Lake or Spring Creek Lake for more year-round fun. Each of these distinct areas features hiking trails and campgrounds, so you can settle in for some good old fashioned explorations.
