Lone Mound Ranch is an idyllic, high plains, year round, working cattle ranch with a varied terrain that provides amazing 30+ mile views from atop the 1/4 mile long mesa to hiking the 3/4 mile long draw that cuts through the rolling hills. We have RV sites with 110 outlets for $10, 30 amp for $30 and 50 amp for $50 up by the highway or campsites available from groves of elm and evergreens to higher, dramatic elevations with inspiring, expansive views. You may want to visit our on-site ranch store for all cuts of our grass-fed beef and more! Cabins and remote camping sites include campfire rings for grilling and outdoor pets are welcome. If traveling with your horses, pens are available along with miles of unpaved, remote, county roads to explore the varied landscapes. You can expect to encounter, both on the ranch and off, white tail, mule deer, turkey, hogs, coyotes, quail, dove, road runners and friendly locals always ready to stop and chat. We love meeting people and welcome new friends to join us doing all things ranch related, from feeding cattle and horses to improving infrastructure. Whether you're looking for souvenirs or wish to really experience the heart of Lone Mound Ranch we offer grass-fed beef by the lb, free range chicken eggs by the dozen, pastured goat milk, cheese, butter and ice cream & in season a variety of organic veggies to smother in butter for the grill! This campsite, w/ fire ring, is located at the north end of our shallow valley, on the north side of our driveway. From your campsite you have access to 420 acres of varied terrain for hiking, biking, ATV's, or horseback riding. Bring your own horses/atvs/mountain bikes. Entrance 1: White gravel up through the trees, over the cattle guard, leads to the cabins and primitive campsites. Entrance 2: Red gate into RV sites has our large mailbox w/ white LMR. Entrance 3: Double silver gate and has the Lone Mound Ranch Country Store sign to the right. The ranch store/black Grill Barn is right up by the road and horse pens are located 1/8 mile behind the store. SITE #2 DIRECTIONS To get to your site you'll go in Entrance 1 and follow the driveway 1/4 mile back to the East. You'll pass through an old fence and dip down into a shallow valley. There are two small trees on your left (North) and the road to your campsite is just past them. Follow that road north and it will dead end into your large group of trees at Site #2. Country rule is: if the gate is closed, close it behind you. If the gate is open, leave it open.

The ranch store is right up by the road in a black, Grill Barn & horse motel pens are located 1/8 mile behind the store. Country rule is: Leave gates like you find them. Our gates are equipped w/ chains & snaps for secure closure. Please take a moment to look at the way the chain is secured before undoing it so you can redo it properly.

The Hillside is one of our favorite cabins. It's a rustic concrete dugout with two large rooms and large southwestern facing windows and glass doors. In the main room you have a king bed, loveseat, recliner and on the other end is the kitchen area with propane stovetop, fullsize fridge, and large convection oven. In the second room is the large bathroom with standing shower, toilet, and washing machine. Outside you have a grill and fire ring for campfires. Gate #3 is a double silver gate and has the Lone Mound Ranch Country Store sign to the right. The ranch store is visible from the road in a little black barn, and horse pens are located 1/8 mile behind the store. HILLSIDE CABIN To get to your cabin you will come through Gate #1 and follow the driveway about 1/4 mile back to the east. You'll go through an old fence and dip down into a shallow valley. At the bottom of the valley you'll take the Y to the right (past a large group of trees). Follow the driveway another 1/4 mile past a small pond and you'll see the burgundy roof of your dugout cabin and the small carport outside. When you reach the green gates, go in and park anywhere there in the yard. You'll see the steps that lead down to your cabin on the right (West). Beware that you don't drive too far as your cabin is on the edge of a small ravine. Country rule is: if the gate is closed, close it behind you. If the gate is open, leave it open. Our gates are equipped with chains and snaps for secure closure. Please take a moment to look at the way the chain is secured before undoing it so you can redo it properly. This sounds silly but we have literally had guests try to tie log chains as if it were a rope, completely disregarding the snap.

wonderful spot with wonderful people! met 2 other fellow campers who were friendly. No water hook ups currently, but we were full so no issue. Electrical worked great and some amazing walking areas! the hosts were responsive and we were able to get to the store ... plenty of shirts and hats to purchase and the meat was EXCELLENT (please note - the meat was frozen, but worth the thawing wait). and remember, if you meet the cows, "Moo" means NO! Also, be aware there are thorns and burrs that you will find if you are not careful... welcome to the outdoors! Had a great time, hope to stop back soon and best of luck!

Beautiful ranch just 5 miles off the highway. We stayed in a 30 amp RV site with our 32ft motorhome. Ground was well packed so driving was easy. My daughter loved being able to walk up to the horses! The cows and horses roam in the same field you’re parked in, so watch out for poop piles. The views were incredible, sunrise and sunset! Just was very responsive and helpful to a couple issues we had with the site and our vehicle. Over all we were very happy with this location!

Remote Southwest Hillside Cabin
I loved the Ranch House/ Cabin! I brought my 3 teen grandchildren. ALWAYS on phone...so I looked for something remote and open...loved the whole ranch. Got there and we got to look around. It was HOT but kids were okay with that. Went and got some hot dogs and stuff for s'mores. The sunset was beautiful! They couldn't use their phones so we did what I had hoped to do. They started a fire....grilled hot dogs and roasted s'mores...and we talked by the fire! Kids said they truly enjoyed being unplugged! The place itself was large enough to accommodate us 4. I can't wait to do this again. I would definitely recommend to anyone who wants to unplug. No TV was a plus! Lana has the perfect place to just get away. We also got to gaze at the stars. The open sky was just amazing!

Remote Bunkhouse - Lone Mound Ranch
We had the best time at Lone Mound Ranch. Lana and her daughter were the best hosts and we enjoyed their farm fresh eggs for breakfast. It was our first visit to Texas and it was a great, peaceful experience. Our 3 dogs had the best time as ranchers dogs. So glad we found this gem. Thank you!

Lana was quick to respond, very kind and generous with letting us check out late and encouraging us to check out their beautiful regenerative farm with our two dogs. It was peaceful, quiet and truly a feel for what a working farm looks like. True Texas hospitality at its finest. I would recommend this to anyone for either a quick overnight or extended stay to take advantage of all their amenities. We will definitely be coming back especially when the grass finished beef is in stock 😉 Thanks again Lone Mound Ranch & Family!

I love the wildness on top of the mesa, with views all the way around. We arrived at our Remote site just as the sun was setting, and it did not disappoint. It is breezy (windy?) but it's so refreshing after a hot day. Just be aware that you should have 4WD, high clearance and some experience with rough terrain. For me, it is absolutely perfect!

I loved staying in Lana’s bunkhouse. After a very long drive, it was the perfect place to rest for the night. It was great to find such a remote place so close to the highway. The highlight of the visit was the sliver of moon and sky full of stars right outside the bunkhouse door.

Definitely keeping this place in mind for a future stay. If you’re looking to stay in this area, I’d absolutely recommend it. Lana is a super attentive host, the bunkhouse is a true cozy gem with everything you need, and the land is beautiful.

the bunkhouse is cozy and well equipped, as described. we stayed 2 nights with our dog, and loved the views, the quiet, and the rustic cabin. unfortunately the ground was so covered with sharp burrs and stickers that our elderly dog could not walk outside at all, and we weren’t able to explore the land or even the site with her. obviously this is not the host’s fault! but if you are traveling with a dog that will be bothered by lots of sharp stickers, thorns, and burrs on the ground, this may not be the escape for you.

It was such a cool experience to hear cattle milling around my car and hear the coyotes yipping all night. Check in was easy and Lana was super responsive and lovely! I’d stay again in a heartbeat!

Remote Bunkhouse - Lone Mound Ranch
Lana was an exceptional host, and the bunkhouse was cozy and comfortable. I was greeted by horses when I arrived and woke up to a gorgeous sunrise. I'm sad I couldn't stay longer as this place has so much to offer! Tip: follow the written directions on how to get there, not the coordinates given by Hipcamp. I highly recommend this stay!

This is a beautiful space, not far from the highway. Peaceful, and quiet, except for the abundance of wildlife. We loved being among the cows, and listening to the coyotes in the distance all night.

Very secluded private location on Lana‘s ranch. Visit with the horses and cows as they meander up to your campsite while you camp in their pasture for the night. Very quiet and dark, great for sleeping! However, if you have a dog, be aware, the ground is full of little tiny thorny burrs that get stuck in their paws, and the bottom of your shoes! Other than that a wonderful place to stay if you’d like to be off the beaten path.

Amazing time at Lana and chancies place! We stayed in the camper because of the heat it was awesome and such a beautiful view and easy to get to in my 2007 Honda ! Love it

Remote Barn House Lone Mound Ranch
We loved staying overnight at Lone Mound Ranch. It is so beautiful and calm. A great place to overnight on our way to Colorado.

The views were lovely. It was a little confusing finding the exact campsite within the gigantic property, but my novice camping skills could have something to do with it. It was peaceful, primitive camping.
