We have 20 acres of lush river flats adjoining the pristine Brodribb River in the Goongerah Valley. Due to the pristine, clean water straight off the surrounding mountains and the rich fertile river flats, early settlers used this place as a market garden to supply fruit and vegetables to the local townsfolk. After our purchase in 2000, we turned it into a self-sufficient paradise, always welcoming visitors to come and enjoy the land with us. Our BYO campsites are near the river where you can reconnect with nature amongst the tall trees. Kanukadale is a working Nature Retreat Sanctuary, so additional to BYO campsites, we also offer our Bell Tents when the retreats are not running. Here at Kanukadale, you will share the space with very friendly horses, ponies, miniature goats and our donkey. The property is child friendly as the boundary, river and paddocks are well fenced. You can do as much or as little as you want during your stay. Be sure to check out our awesome animal focussed activities that we offer here. You can find them under Experiences. You are welcome to bring your own horses and dogs. Dogs must stay on a lead whilst on the property and responsible pet ownership is essential here, as is a respectful attitude towards all the other sentient beings on the property. We do not allow generators here. There is lots to do in the area with heaps of nature immersion. East Gippsland is one of the most bio-diverse areas on mainland Australia. You can explore rare, Old Growth forest, historic gold mines, climb to the peak of Mt Ellery and walk through the Errinundra Plateau. Mountain bike riding, horseriding, 4wd touring and bushwalking is awesome in this area. There is a camp kitchen with a communal fridge, microwave, stove and electricity. There is also a composting toilet and hot shower facilities. There is free wifi. THERE ARE NO SHOPS OR FUEL OR MOBILE RECEPTION. WIFI CALLING WORKS IF YOU HAVE THAT OPTION. THE CLOSEST TOWN IS 50 KM TO DELEGATE OR 70KM TO ORBOST. YOU NEED TO COME COMPLETELY PREPARED OR IT’S A LONG DRIVE TO TOWN. THERE IS A PUBLIC PHONE BOX UP THE ROAD.

Our RV/ caravan site is situated close to all amenities and also a short walk to the river. You can park your vehicle on a solid gravel road and enjoy the grassy area right next to your door. This spacious 6M Bell Tent is comfortably furnished for you to glamp while you camp. There is a queen size bed and two singles and still plenty of room to move around. You have your own firepit, stocked up with some firewood for the night. The Bell tent is situated a very short walk everything you want; the river, the hot shower and toilet and the camp kitchen.

Amazing night here stopping off during my cycle ride from Melbourne to Sydney - highly recommend for cyclists to avoid the highway! I enjoyed a quick dip in the river and sunset over the trees, beautiful!

Beautiful location with the river a stone throw away. Perfect place to have a swim to cool down in. Animals on the property made it a highlight for the kids. Hot shower & toilet was a bonus. Host Tama, was friendly and happy to answer any questions. We really enjoyed our time out here. Thanks for having us!

Luxury Glamping by the river
Fantastic glamping experience and Tama is an excellent host! The kids loved the activities too including crafting and Trails with Tails. The hot tub is nice and we had fun swimming in the river. Also enjoyed the beautiful farm animals especially the peacocks. The camp kitchen with fridge is handy. The farm animals make noises at night which some people like and other may want to bring ear plugs. Highly recommend!

Fantastic place to switch off and unwind to the sound of the river. Tama was a lovely and hospitable host who welcomed me on arrival with a friendly chat! I would recommend coming here to immerse yourself in a unique spot, go for some walks and if you wish - learn about the farm and Tamas story.

We both loved this place and wish we could've stayed longer to explore more. We stayed in the tiny home on the property which was beautiful. The hot tub was also so nice and definitely recommend it.

My stay at Kanukadale farm was just great for what I needed. This was my first solo camping trip and having showers, wifi and firewood made it very doable and pleasurable. Tama was very friendly, knowledgeable of the area and recommended some hikes to do. I had a hot tub on the second night and that was great. I would have loved to have had more of an opportunity to get close to the animals but it was a busy weekend so not possible. Beautiful scenery too. Highly recommend.

Great to have some downtime amongst the trees and animals. The sounds of the river, kookaburras, and of course Romeo the donkey were very cathartic. Tama was very hospitable, braving the rain to greet us when we arrived. It's great to see what she's doing to provide a sanctuary for such a broad range of animals.

Fantastic spot close to the stream! Highlight was the beautiful stars at night. Great to be away from the city. Toilet and shower were a lovely addition.

Shady campsite
We had a wonderful stay at Tama’s retreat. Our very shady site had lots of grass on which to setup our tent - it was also very private. The horses were grazing close by and we loved patting them. Overall a great stay that we would highly recommend.

From the moment you drive in, you feel at home. Greeted by horses, donkeys, and goats, it's a working farm feel nestled among the towering trees. We camped next to the river, which has crystal clear water. Tama and her farmhand were terrific hosts, making us feel at home. Our kids loved being able to roam around and the Pony Play was fantastic. The facilities are excellent, with a hot shower available every day and great cooking facilities in a large barn. Try the hot tub for a relaxing time under the stars!

Tama's place is great for some time spent relaxing in nature. The river was great for the kids to play in, and the camping site was clean and facilities really well done. Clean showers and toilets, and we used the kitchen for all meals! Well decked out! The donkeys and peacocks were favourites. So noisy, they made us laugh! Great little area for kids to play games under a tent. Thanks Tama, we loved our stay which allowed us some time to rest and relax xx

We really enjoyed our stay here. Tama was very welcoming and accommodating allowing us to check in a bit earlier, which was much appreciated after our long day of cycling from Orbost. Camp kitchen was well appointed, enabling us to prepare our dinner and a well earned cuppa. Donkeys were very friendly and our glamping tent very clean and comfortable. We also enjoyed a cool dip in the adjoining river only few metres walk from our tent. We highly recommend as a stop over .

Tama was such a great host. Unfortunately we only stayed for one night but we definitely are looking forward to go back and stay longer sometime in the future. We purchased a Horse experience for my daughter and she just loved it. She had the chance to spend time with all animals in the farm. While Tama looked after her I had the opportunity to explore the land a bit and jump in the river. Thank you Tama.

This is a quiet place close to a small river you can get to, including wading during the warmer days. The location itself is reasonably flat grassland, no problem for our camper trailer. The toilets and showers are kept clean. If you're looking for a place off the main track surrounded by forests, this is worth checking out.

We camped for 1 night in our campervan, 2 adults & 8yo & 10yo as a pitstop on our trip. Love the river, especially the chairs for sitting and relaxing. Love the eco friendliness of the amenities, compost toilets especially. The Peacock's are beautiful to look at, once you get used to their calls :) the addition of the games tent is fantastic.

Our family had an unforgettable 2-night stay at Kanukadale Forest Retreat. The camping site facilities were excellent, offering plenty of space and privacy for our setup. Tama and her team were incredibly friendly and welcoming, making us feel right at home. The highlight of our trip was the one-on-one session Tama provided for our son with the animals. Her patience and guidance gave him the confidence to be around and connect with the horses, ponies, and other animals - a truly heartwarming experience. The river added a refreshing touch, perfect for relaxing by or taking a quick dip. This retreat provided everything we could ask for - great activities, beautiful surroundings, and warm hospitality. Highly recommend for families looking to create lasting memories!

We loved staying here! 3 nights of peace and tranquillity, swimming in the river and visiting all of the animals that Tama has. Sites are level and grassed and the whole place is fabulous to relax.

Pity it hadn’t been mowed. Quiet, secluded site on the river bank - enjoyed private swims, bird life and the calling dingoes.

Tama's lovely property offers a range of great accom options in a gorgeous location right on the river. Beds in the glamping tents were super comfy though be prepared for a little noise from both the local wildlife and the farm animals. The lovely hot showers were a welcome sight after a few days in the bush.

Tama is a wonderful friendly host. Her property was a wonderful retreat for my partner and I + 2 dogs. The river was perfect for a dip, brought floats along and it was so peaceful. The wood fire hot tub is a must add on, nestled by the shetland, donkey and mule paddock, magical. Fire pit pre stacked with some wood and we bought two more wheelbarrows for our 3 night stay.

We had a great nights stay to break up our road trip. The camp kitchen set up made prepping dinner and breakfast easy and Tama’s commutation was excellent. The tent set up was really beautiful and the kids loved patting the animals when they came up to the fence.
