6 - WIRRITJIN WORKSHOP
I stayed at Rainbow Tree and loved the space, privacy and amount of available firewood. This felt like proper camping rather than setting up a tent in someone’s paddock. The walk to the creek is well worth the effort- I’d suggest a moderate level of fitness is required. Importantly as a solo camper I felt safe.

We spent two tranquil nights at 11 String of Monastery in Gurgulan mond over the Easter holidays—a hidden haven wrapped in silence and stars. Victoria, our gracious host, greeted us with warmth and kindness, even in the fading light of late evening.
The land welcomed us with open skies and whispering trees. Though the second night brought strong winds that tested our humble camping setup, the spirit of the place remained unshaken—resilient, raw, and real.
Toilets here are simple compost buckets, surprisingly comfortable, echoing the gentle ethos of the land. Showers are not part of the experience—embrace the open-air cleanse or journey 30 kilometers to a nearby town, where showers await, warm ones at the showgrounds for a modest $5 (payable at taralha General Store).
Our campsite, nestled in a patch of wild bush, was slightly uneven, shaped by the natural undulations of earth untouched. We pitched a dome tent under open skies, and though the ground was rough, the peace it offered was unmeasured. Other sites, we discovered on wandering, offered smoother land and spectacular views—each one a small sanctuary.
This is not a place of luxury, but of soul. There’s no reception, no noise, only gravel roads, clear creeks, and the distant hum of wind through leaves. It’s a place for those seeking serenity over convenience, silence over signal.
A few gentle tips: bring extra compostable liners, as reaching Victoria can be tricky in her absence. There’s about 1000 liters

Incredibly beautiful and wild property - felt like we were camping in a national park all by ourselves. There is water and composting toilet amenities which was a bonus. And walking distance down to a pristine river for swimming. Highly recommend if you’re looking for some peace and quiet !

Such an incredibly relaxing place, beautiful forest and wildlife, starry skies, Wombeyan caves, beautiful creeks and gorges for swimming, bush walking and all the little extras on site to make camping easy - BBQ, plenty of water, eco-loo, compost bin. Another great camping trip to the 11 strings.
I am still exploring the area, then chilling away the evenings next to a warming camp fire with a bottle of red because why not.. The hike down to the river is always my favourite part of the camp.

The dam and creek is quite a hike from the site, but lovely.

3 - BUDDHA TREE VIEW
We absolutely loved our time here. Victoria is so passionate about what she does and we loved crossing paths and having a good old yarn.
The instructions were easy to follow, though the track in might be a bit hairy in 2wd if it were wet at all - our rav4 and van had no troubles when we went.
The hike down to the creek is exactly as described, watch your footing or you may slip on loose rocks, and be prepared for the 3.5km trek back up to camp! Take it slowly and its not so bad - go fast and youll be puffing by the top!
The creek is worth it though, it is stunning and our pups absolutely loved swimming along while we waded and explored downstream.
We can't wait to come back!

Overall, the area was lovely. Close enough to the Wombeyan Caves and an interesting creek nearby whilst still feeling quite private. However, would advise campers bring their own stove/ cooking gear because when we arrived we realised the BBQ was broken. This was our first time camping ever so this was quite distressing. The toilet was just a bucket and we were not sure how to use or dispose of it (we mistakenly thought there would be a longdrop - looking back I should have read things more closely). Would recommend to experienced campers! If you are just starting off like us it might be a rough time.

Awesome spot! Close as you can get to being out wild without being out wild! Plenty of firewood scatered around and biodegradable bucket toilets. The walk down to the river can be long but it is worth it! Some good size Brown Trout in there too! Would highly recommend!

Wild & untamed.
Victoria, spends a great deal of time looking after the land with the aim of minimal human foot print. Lots to explore & get lost in if you give it a real go, adventure.

The camps are always well prepared.
Victoria, is all about sustained off grid living & how we can work with the environment for mutual benefit and it shows. She is very passionate about what can be accomplished, and it is always great chatting with her.

Victoria's property is a well thought out experience to ensure all visitors have a truly off-grid experience without damaging the environment. In fact, Victoria has considered impact in everything that the campsite comes with and this makes the experience a lot more authentic. The location of the property is breathtaking and its excellent to know that this is being preserved and nurtured for generations to come.

We loved camping at the Hermits Hut. It was one of the furthest away spots (about 1KM from the turn off), felt very secluded. Our group of 4 spent two beautiful starry nights there (complete with shooting stars) and even added some fresh oregano and mint to our camp food from the bushes nearby!! We also saw a little echidna hiding in the bushes ☺️ It was quite windy the weekend we stayed which was the only downside, but the area was somewhat protected with the campfire going strong and our tents survived without being blown over. We did a day trip about 30-40mins into the Wombeyan Caves area too.

Thank you again Victoria for the amazing experience. The spaces that you and the land itself have created here are so nice. The Creek was like something out of a fairy tale. The walk back uphill with my full pack was no fairy tale though haha. Great spot and I have already recommended it to a friend. Victoria was also a lovely host, great to chat with you.

Camping on Victoria's land was an amazing experience.
She was very warm and welcoming and does an outstanding job at maintaining her property to make it a pleasant experience for whomever stays there.
Being able to have pets there makes it an even more enjoyable experience.
There is some phone coverage which is helpful in cases of emergencies.
At each site there is a supplied large log for the base of a hefty, long-lasting fire. Sites are also spaced far enough away from each other, so you have ample privacy to really embrace your own individual camping experience.
I highly recommend camping at Victoria's property to anyone who wants a genuine camping experience and enjoys being surrounded by nature.
I will definitely return.

My 3rd visit to the Monestary.
This time back packing to the river for an overnight stay.
Gorgeous, camping next to the river.
Listening to the flow of water especially at night lulling you to sleep.
An amazing place to get away from it all, and feel safe.
I was the only one there so had the whole place to myself to explore.
A return is warranted as one night was not enough.
Victoria, as usual, was a great host.

This was my 2nd camping trip to the Monestary of 11 strings & was just as enjoyable as my first trip.
I explored a lot more on this trip.
Hiking down to the river getting a fire going, enjoying lunch & a coffee while watching the river flowing past was a highlight.
I met Victoria on the way to the river at the Magic Bus. We had a great chat over tea, & probably would have talked till nightfall if we did not have other places to be that day.
I absolutely loved the river & will be back again to do backpacking & camp along the river for a few days (or more).
Probably will be for more as so much to explore, & simply enjoy the serene bush environment.

Had a great time camping at Monastery of 11 Strings. We ended up staying at site #1 (rainbow tree) as there was some flooding on the road to site #3 (buddha tree view).
Victoria was a great host - very communicative, and we would happily stay here again. We met on our hike down to the creek and it was nice to have a chat. You can tell she's very passionate about caring for the land and giving guests a great experience.
There are unsealed roads on the way in but we managed in a very fully packed Honda Jazz, even during a particularly rainy period of May. Not easy, but manageable.
The hike down to the creek and back was a bit challenging but a nice walk, lots of changes in climate and scenery, and the creek itself was beautiful, lots of water flowing with the all the rain. Recovering bushland is a nice sight to see after the bushfires in 2018.
Overall, a great trip not too far from Sydney.
