Lewana is a historic ex-forestry workers' estate located on the Blackwood River and Tourist Route 251 between Balingup and Nannup. The 100-acre property is situated amongst state and pine forests, and the parkland setting features over 50 different tree varieties, creating a beautiful place to stay at any time of year. Lewana is the ideal base to explore the picturesque region of Balingup and the surrounding areas, including Donnybrook, Nannup, and Bridgetown. Surrounded by orchards and award-winning wineries, there’s plenty to enjoy during your stay. Experience nature by walking part of the Bibbulmun Track, cycling a section of the Mundi Bibbi Track, or kayaking on the Blackwood River from historic Wrights Bridge. Please Note: No campfires between 1st Nov and 10th May, subject to Shire ruling. Dog-friendly, strictly by prior arrangement only. Shower available adjacent to the old barn. Communal fire pit & gas BBQ. No generators or trail bikes allowed. Coffee Cart open when guests are staying with us.

Lewana is a historic ex forestry workers estate located on the Blackwood River and Tourist Route 251 between Balingup and Nannup. The 100 acre property is situated amongst state and pine forest and the parkland setting has over 50 different trees varieties creating a beautiful place to stay at any time of year. Located towards the bottom of the Lewana Valley, Base Camp offers majestic views of the wide open landscape above and the brook and ponds below.  The view of the ridge line climbing to over 300m elevation makes you want to climb up to the top to experience the views over the Blackwood. The open and exposed level site is most suitable for self-contained camp set ups with the ablution facilities located 250m away by the old barn.  The campground is not shaded which is perfect for solar panels however an awning of something to provide shade would be needed in summer months. Access is via a sloping gravel track with turning space adjacent to the campground, which most suitable for 4WD towing vehicles or 2WD tent set ups. Conventional caravans and tents can be used in summer. Access from the gravel road is via a grassed level track, however parts of the site are on a slight slope.  Lewana is the ideal place to base yourself to enjoy the picturesque region of Balingup and the surrounding areas including Donnybrook, Nannup and Bridgetown. Surrounded by orchards and award-winning wineries there is plenty to do during your stay. Experience nature by walking part of the Bibbulmun Track or cycle a section of the Mundi Bibbi Track, you can even kayak on the Blackwood River from historic Wrights Bridge. The campground is suited to self-contained caravans or trailer tents. Really beautiful landscape and walks all around that my dog also enjoyed. The dam is very pretty and everything very green this time of year. The bird life was also wonderful! Just loved the large and varied trees around the homestead. Would suggest screw in pegs for this gravel based campsite as I bent a few tent pegs trying to hammer them in. Looking forward to staying here again in the near future

Lewana is such a magical place, nestled in the valley in such pretty countryside. The camp facilities are excellent with lovely private toilet/ bathroom facilities unlike other camp spaces. The addition of the new “camp kitchen” made the camping experience a lot easier. We loved meeting Fergus the highland calf and the new baby goats,

Beautiful grounds, lovely hosts. Dog friendly, the hosts have dogs, so make sure you follow their rules and check in with them. Great spots, stayed at running site 2, both running brook sites are a little uneven, would recommend the first pad for big rigs, the smaller of the two could be challenging for van over 20ft No functional cell service but Starlink does work so long as your dish is out of the tree cover

Such a beautiful peaceful campsite. We booked Running brook 1 but changed to 2 as it was larger and more sun for our solar. This is a sloping site but we didnt have any issues levelling our van to suit and take in the views over the lake. It was a great location to tour the area and the road in was magical. Will visit again as we will miss the bird song and the frogs at night.

Easy check in process, provided with a little map to get to the site. It was well maintained, had a few doggy bowls there which was a nice touch (we have 2 dogs with us). Big fire pit at the camp site. The amenities were a short walk away with a toilet and shower. Everything was really lovely. Plenty of bird activity to enjoy as well.

We took our 17 foot high top caravan to the hidden creek site. Check in is past the site entrance so I’d advise parking down the bottom and walking up if you have a big van. We just turned around up the top. The owner Errol was absolutely lovely, he brought us some kindle. He’s definitely a dog lover! The views here are gorgeous, there are farm animals for the kids to see, and a little shop. There is plenty of privacy, a good spot for a caravan and a couple of tents. The little lake is lovely too.

We landed pretty late in the day but directed to Base Camp where we quickly set up, got a fire started, quick dinner & beer & off to bed for a cold night! Foggy morning & breakfast. Good spot 👍🏼

The site has quite a slope and surrounded by lots of trees only giving a couple of hours sunlight to charge the solar batteries. It lacks sunshine and view. Site 1 which is flat and elevated has much more of an outlook and maybe more sun.

We recently stayed at Base Camp at Lewana Cottages in Balingup and absolutely loved it. The grounds are honestly something out of a storybook: stunning everywhere you look, peaceful, beautifully maintained and full of character. Errol, Nola and their family were so welcoming and genuinely lovely hosts. Our kids had the best time with the playground and animals, and there was plenty to keep them entertained while still feeling relaxing for the adults. The walks and trails around the property were amazing and really added to the whole experience. The amenities were excellent and everything felt thoughtfully set up. It’s one of those places that makes you slow down properly and enjoy where you are. We’ll definitely be back.

We had a great stay at Lewana Cottages campground. It’s a peaceful slice of paradise with only a few well-spaced campsites, so you’re not on top of other campers. Being dog-friendly was a big plus - there are forestry roads straight from the campsite, perfect for long walks that our dogs loved. Lots of birds, kangaroos and even an emus made an appearance. We’d definitely go back.

Our second stay at Base Camp. As good as the first and we will happily return again and again. The surrounding landscape has grown in beautifully and this location doesn't get any better for training for the Seven Gravel Race. A secluded site in the valley of Lweana's property. The owners do recommend this site only be used for tents, however, given we'd stayed before and are familiar with how to get in and out they accommodated us in our van. Having said this, I would only recommend this site for 4x4 tow vehicles.

We loved camping at Lewana Cottages. We booked Running Brook 1. We loved the beautiful campgrounds, the dam, the animals, the coffee, the quietness, and starry sky. Errol and Nola were the perfect hosts! We loved meeting them and we appreciated their kindness. Loved buying honey from their farm also! Just the perfect weekend getaway! Would 100% recommend this place.
