Love loVE LOVED! This hands down one of the best hip camps I've been too. We did the roundhouse. Stunning views all around. Highly recommend making it to rainbow lake if you can. Moderate hike.

Moose Haven was the perfect remote getaway - my dog didn’t want to leave! It was nice being in close proximity to so many trails, but the cabin was also great for a cozy place to read, watch hummingbirds, and relax. I also appreciated the trails recommendations from Patrick and plan to come back to explore them!

Good place to overnight. I was confused a little when driving in but everything worked out. Road is nearby but not to noisy especially after 9 pm. We didn’t use the fire pit due to a fire ban but the pit looks good.

The area is beautiful and the cabin is very comfortable and well maintained. Deb had some really great stories and information on wildlife in the area when she greeted us. Overall the stay was amazing. Would highly recommend.

We had a great stay here. We appreciated all the kitchen supplies and other amenities. It was very peaceful and we saw moose and deer just off our porch. We recommend the rainbow lakes trail at the end of the street it was fantastic.

We had the most incredible stay at Boyer YL Ranch in Wyoming! We stayed in the historic barn loft and it was absolutely magical—full of charm, peacefulness, and the perfect mix of rustic and comfortable.
The host was so kind and welcoming, making us feel right at home. Our kids especially loved playing in the river just steps from the loft and discovering books in the little lending library. It felt like stepping into a slower, more beautiful way of life. We even saw a moose just steps from the barn!
We left feeling refreshed, connected, and already planning our next visit. Couldn’t recommend it more—we will definitely be going back!

Such a great getaway with AMAZING hosts and views! Mosquitoes were abundant over 4th of July weekend, but between citronella candles and DEET bug spray it was more of a nuisance than a deal killer. Highly recommended, and can’t wait to come back when the aspens change!!

Beautiful land! The accommodations, although rustic, were very nice. There was just myself and my husband and four small pups, but can accommodate many people. It was very secluded and remote which is what we wanted for the weekend. The shower was a very pleasant surprise! Was easy to communicate with Kelly and her husband came to show us around for check in. Would definitely come back!

this place was great! located in a quiet town not far from Steamboat Springs. we say plenty of wildlife in the surrounding areas.
The facilities were great too. just what we needed after a long trip. the hospitality of the host was unmatched and was on site if we needed anything.

A perfect spot to Winter Camp for an excellent weekend of skiing at Steamboat. Our host Taylor was more than accommodating and super helpful for me and the gang. An easy trip to town, in a nice quiet area with amazing open skies. Would definitely recommend to any van, truck, or rooftop tent campers.

Overview
About
Located at the base of Hahn’s Peak just north of the town of Steamboat Springs, Colorado, Steamboat Lake State Park offers year-round recreation and plenty of camp spots. Water skiing and jet skiing are popular activities on the lake and many of the coves and inlets are restricted to wakeless boating making it a great spot for paddle sports. Cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and ice fishing are the big draws in winter. Steamboat Lake offers both electric and non-electric campsites during the main season and fourteen RV sites with hookups during the winter months.

Tips for snagging a campsite
- Reservations are strongly recommended during the summer months and can be made up to six months in advance through the park’s website or over the phone. Reservations are only available September 30 through the week before Memorial Day—the rest of the season they are first-come, first-served.
- For easy access to the water, book one of the waterside tent-only sites on Bridge Island.
- Ten simple camping cabins are available for rent year-round and can be reserved through the Steamboat Lake Marina. They sleep up to six people, and some are pet-friendly. Campers must bring their own bedding.
When to go
Steamboat Lake State Park is open year-round. Summer is the most popular time to visit but the park can also be busy on weekends during the winter months. The drive from Steamboat Springs to Steamboat Lake is one of the best places to spot fall colors and colors typically peak between mid-September and early October. Winter campsites with electric hookups are available on a first-come, first-served basis in the Marina parking lot and the camping cabins are heated but require a 100-yard walk from the parking area in winter.
Know before you go
- Campsites include picnic tables, fire rings, and some offer electric hookups. Coin-operated showers, flush toilets, and laundry services are available at the Camper Services Building.
- Pets are welcome as long as they are well-behaved and on a leash. They are not allowed at the swimming beach.
- The marina store sells basic camping supplies, firewood, and snacks.
- Pontoon boat, canoe, kayak, and paddleboard rentals are available at the Steamboat Lake Marina. Reservations are highly recommended.
- If you bring your own boat, be aware that all vessels need to be inspected for invasive species before launching. Inspection stations are located at Dutch Hill and Placer Cover.
